I would say 50 bitcoins! In 20 years it will be around 10k and 500 grand is enough to retire imo

Its not good to hold our coins for next 20 years, if you want to earn profits from it then buying and selling should be done on regular basis, higher price will give you profits and lower price will give buying opportunity.

That is too optimistic. I think we need at least 10 bitcoin. I reckon the price of each bitcoin will be between 100 to 200k US dollars.
After 20 years 1 bitcoin will definitely not help you in getting rich or having good retired life as its difficult to imagine price reaching to the moon, at least we need 50 bitcoins to have a good life.
I suppose you are right. Bitcoin has a great potential but the time for millionaires is over. I don't see investing in bitcoin making you a millionaire now.

If it's for your retirement after 20 years I would not recommend to you buying bitcoins right now. We do not know if bitcoins is still there 20 years after. But if you are really willing to buy 1 to 5 btc will do, but you should not leave it alone. You should monitor the market and don't let your btc sleep in your wallet just to be sure that after twenty years of bitcoin activity you have sufficient funds for your retirement.
No one is sure with the future of bitcoins but at least we live on what we believe to achieve, the amount you put in terms of BTC on your retirement will determine how much you trust bitcoin in the future as you gamble for it.It would be unwise to invest all your money into bitcoin hoping it will flourish some day. I did invest around 10% of my funds into bitcoin, and honestly all that i get back i consider as a bonus.
Because bitcoin is the same as venture capital, The amount of risk vs reward can be compared with gambling and thus I wrote it off.

Maybe in 20 years they developed something else for paying.
For me 100 bitcoins is enough amount to have a mid class life when you retire. And it's better if you use at least 10 or 15 bitcoin from that 100 to be a capital to be able to start running your own business because business is one of the best way to continue making money and in business also you controlled your time and you are the boss .

The problem is how to earn that many bitcoins for retire to the next 20 years. 10000 bitcoin are so many though, but if you are a rich man, you can easily buy bitcoin and no need to earn it.
It's too hard to say now what they will be worth in 20 years. I think you should diversify in several types of investments, not just bitcoins. Maybe try to get 10 bitcoins, but put some money in stock, bonds, and gold as well.

100btc is indeed a great amount to have for the long term. the only problem nowadays is that the majority of the people can't afford to buy that many coins as the price has gone up significantly throughout the years. fact is that a lot people already struggle to collect themselves 1 whole bitcoin. it will only get harder and harder as the price will increase further in the coming years.
