It depends on the standard of living that you consider satisfactory, and the country where you will live, since the cost of living is an important factor. But I believe that anywhere, 100 BTCs would be enough in twenty years.

Indeed.  It also depends on the country you want to retire and live and spend your retirement fund.  I would suggest to live here in our country since cost of living here is cheaper just like countries in Asia.  I would make more bitcoin as far and as long as I can because I do not know what its price is for the next 20 years.

If you want to retire in a country with cheap living cost, it is possible to have 100 bitcoins in a few decades.

Amout is based on country you live
It may be that 1000 wont be enough and soe where 10 is enough

i suggest you better buy alt coin or any upgrowing coin in beginning stage, and put it i  cold storage..

you cannot just put an investment to a strange random altcoin ,
will be better to invest on a well-known coin like bitcoin ,
it has a bright future rather than any other cryptocurrency ,
you need to make a reserch , but i can suggest the best altcoin to invest so far are ethereum.

Yeah and we cannot afford to hold our altcoin for a long term as it is very risky as we are not sure how long it will survive but we can surely hold bitcoins in long term.
higher risk higher possibility you can earn profit ,
isn't it a principle base of investment? no risk no profit ,
everything will worth to the risk you take , so take it easy ,
you just need to put a little money for long term investment on ethereum.

Agree if you dont risk at all then you cant earn much or you cant earn anything! Trading is a business ! taking risk is normal so that you can earn pretty lot from it!. If you are really into trading then you should risk your bitcoin or money! It is useless thing if you dont risk at all.
but a long term investment did not require a high stake risk ,
for example in this case when someone who want to do invest to retire in 20 years ,
in bitcoin world who everyone know something impossible can turn to very possible ,
today you invested small value of $500 and noone know in 20 years will be $500k?
If you have a lot of earnings and put a little money on investments and hope to be big in the future I think it is not so bad, if it turns out that in the future the price doesn't go very high. But if you retire and just hope on investment, you need to put a sufficient amount of lots. about 100 btc may very well.

To retire in 20 years you will be needing alot of bitcoin probably around 100 if prices go right cause you'll want to live nicely.
But maybe in 20 years the bitcoin will be dead already or replaced, cause 20 years is a very long time for events to happen.

Instead of investing in bitcoin as a retirement fund, I think it would be more secure if we earn bitcoin now, engage in business with it and the fruit of your hard work and business in bitcoin, put it in banks as fiat and that would be secure that way, whether  bitcoin success or fail, your retirement fund will always be safe there in the bank.

Assuming that 20 years from now bitcoin is still around, I think I would have to have around 100 bitcoins. I would be old by then and I would probably have some health issues which I'd need to spend some bitcoins on. A retired life could be hard especially if you are depending only on a small pension but if bitcoin commands a good price by then, I might just retire securely.

i do not think you will need so much money as a retired fella as you lose your youthfulness so probably 100-300 btc unless you want a very luxurious life style 500-1000 BTC will do

Personally, I am buying as much as I can, but not more than I can afford to loose, because you never know what will happen with the value of Bitcoin, how many do you need if the value is really low later in the future.

Twenty years from now, if the bitcoin continues with a good growth rate, I believe that 120 bitcoins would be enough in the place where I live.

I think that is going to be enough if the price of bitcoin is going to reach $1,000 so if you are going to have 120 bitcoins then total you are going to have $120,000 and I guess that is already enough for your retirement because you can start to have your own business with it. Because if you are just going to spend that without returns then you are going to fall into poverty.

Well, if you will just live within your means then 100 BTC is even more than enough to enjoy life, if I will be ask I would also make the same answer because I do not want to live a lavish life to be happy, I just want my life to be simple and do a healthy living with my family.

100BTC is too much considering it's price 20 years from now. But if you want to have chill life, then go on and stock now some BTC while it's price is cheap.

For me 100 BTC is not going to be enough just to survive your remaining days here in world if you are going to retire in 20 years.

Because we are not sure what is going to be the value of 1 bitcoin by that time. I guess it is going to be a good range if you need 1,000 BTC and higher.

So whatever is going to be the value of bitcoin by that time it would suffice.

I'm sure you will need many bitcoins to retire in 20 years. 20 years are very long time, maybe you need around 1000 bitcoins. It's depend on yourself though, if you can live with low life, you only need less bitcoins.
of course you would need wast amounts of bitcoins for that in my opinion, you would need at least 400

Of course you need a lots of bitcoins if you are going to retire because you are going to save that and you have so much plan right ? you need to compute it all or save it more than you are saving i think you need to work hard to work for bitcoin until your bitcoin wallet looks like your keyboards number like 987654321 bitcoins.

There is one thing that i know and that is that you need to have allot bitcoins to retire in 20 years for now the bitcoin price is just 600 dollar and i dont think you can get any higher with it because no one  is spending

When no one is spending, it is good because the price will increase as demand surges and that way, even 100 bitcoins are fine.
Or if you are unsure, just take the exact number of what you see it in price and that's 600, as 600 x 600 is $360000 which is not less to live a luxurious life after retirement.
