HODL'ing is good of course, but for longer term storage, consider moving the coin to offline wallets, exchanges are handy but they do break / go away / run away sometimes.

You can keep a fraction of the coin in your portfolio there (on exchange) and still be able to monitor coin price with your main holdings being safe in your custody. (Just remember to keep an eye on the coin / wallet updates should you need to update wallet, unless you have the privkeys - recommended)

Number of holding coins depends on your risk management, if you are looking for high risk but high return, you can always put focus on 1~2 coins will do, but hold them a lot. But if you are not a risk taker, then it is up to your financial ability to hold more coins, diversify risk to more coins.

I have more then 15 different coins. But a big amount only in 5-6 coins. And now I decided to hold more in BTC and ETH (around 30% of portfolio).

I am not sure this is a god strategy, I have 5-6 coins, and try not to keep more than that as it becomes impossible to keep following the coin's news.

Is holding up to 5-6 coins only too risky ?

how many do you hold and what is your rationale for that number ?

when i started trading i dont withdraw my earnings i just bought it with coins i think thats id worth keepin
sadly the platform delisted some so i lost a lot
now i learned that you just dont buy and buy , you have to choose your platform then if its for long term choose a coin thats atleast on the top 20 to be safe
and of course take some profit.

just holding 3 coins. I think my holdings have a lot of space to improve because their developers are active and always updateing investors on their slack and telegram channel.

maybe at the moment I'm not holding much of my investment coin is more likely to hold bitcoin and a little coin ETH as an investment, because I don't learn much about other coins that have more advancements than Bitcoin and ETH.

i think its not too risky to hold 5-6 coins because you can easy to manage the coins itself and you can make decision for selling or just hold for a long term. if you have more budget, then maybe you can use for trading and keep that 5-6 coins for long term and you can use the other coins for daily trading.

I think its depend on how much your budget and how good you handle each coins, if you are newbie in trading, I suggesting to hold until 7 coins but its up to you. if you think you can hold until 10 coins then go a head but if not, I think 5-6 coins is enough for you. its better to hold for a long term as in the end, you can make big profit.

quite risky if you can not manage it well. I prefer to hold 3 coins. because I focus more on managing the coins. Information about the coins is more observed

Hold 7-10, re-evaluate the weaker ones to make sure they're projects are staying on track, potentially sell and make room for more promising ones.

I hold quite a few ... Probably too many, but I mostly invest in BTC, LTC, Dash and Etheium.  I kept the BCH.  Then a made a small investment in a some new comers, OMG, Qtum ... A few other etherium tokens.  I also mine Verium and share some drive space for Storj ... About 15 altogether.  I'd also want to add Monero and Ripple.

It's all pretty manageable, since except for the Verium, all my coin can be held in Exodus's Eden wallet.  It's kind of a prerequisite for me because I like to see everything in one view and not mess around with a bunch of different wallets.

I hold about 10 coins. I know, it's a lot. But I really just invest heavily in two, and the other remaining eight are almost equally spread apart.

I have just started to learn about bitcoin and this bitcoi.  And now I knew that as much as I wanted to earn some coins,  I cant because I cant join signature campaign. So I tried faucets and by hardwork I finally earned 1waves coin. And right now,  thats all I have.
