Try to make some earning by yourself than show off to your friend and then your friend will start interest for it. For the first attempt, can try to treat your classmate or office friend some food because you're using bitcoin instead your own money.

This is how some people I tell Bitcoin about react. They look at it as too time consuming and unnecessary. This will change with time though, as Bitcoin becomes more simplified to use and more retailers accept Bitcoin. Then people will start to see the advantages Bitcoin has over regular fiat, and more will hopefully start using Bitcoin.

Maybe they used faucets . If they want want to be not bored they should buy btc to their own pocket to see the used of bitcoins much better.

sadly bitcoin is mostly considered as an investment instead of some sort of currency and a new and better way of payments.
and while this is the mentality of people and the price is low and price history currently shows a downward trend and a stable state, people are not going to invest and since they most people don't consider it a currency they don't buy and use bitcoin either.

Yes, but in the meantime while you wait for it go back up...whoever recommended bitcoin to their friends and family...I'm pretty sure those relationships are expiring pretty fast right now.

The guy who gave a wedding gift in bitcoin to his brother, I pity him right now. The brother's wife even told him not to accept the gift. LOFL. so sad.

catch is you are screwed either way...I told them so I could tell them end of 2013........and they think I'm quite mad!

now if BTC takes off I will catch crap for not explaining the whole process good enough to them and did not convice them to join (say about end of 2016)

Don't introduced it like a paypal because we all know that paypal is so easy to hack and the process of it is so slow.

i would introduce it like online banking but without needing to login into your onlinebanking to send a transfer or make a payment, you find it odd but a lot more people pay their home bills online because they dont want to visit the bank or they just simply dont have the time.
