This newbie jail is restricting my freedom and hindering my pursuit of happiness

lol

I'm thinking the same but I understand that it is a good idea to prevent spamming the main forum.

newbies will spam this forum and many more experienced persons will likely avoid this part of the forum as a direct result. Therefore, only newbies will answer newbies questions, which doesn't seem very helpful at all to me.

I've got over 2,700 posts, and over a year participating in discussions here at BitcoinTalk.org, and yet here I am seeing you post in the Newbie Forum.

Here's a link to someone with over 9,000 posts, and over 18 months participating in discussions here at BitcoinTalk.org, and yet there they are are seeing and responding to a post in the Newbie Forum:

There are plenty of experts who frequent and participate in the Newbie Forum.

thank you for this - that way at least we can keep our spam to this section instead of all over the newbie jail.
i think the newbiejail is pretty counter-intuitive as it promotes spamming the newbie section of the forum just so you can post in the real forum.

It should promote intelligent and useful discussion in the Newbie Forum along with time for Newbies to learn a bit about Bitcoin and the Forum.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of Newbies who have the patience of a 4 year old, and feel that spam is a much more useful way to get 5 posts.

I mean isn't the point of a forum to allow people to post wherever they want? Huh

No.  The point of the forum is to allow people to engage in intelligent and useful discussion on a topic of shared interest.  The restrictions help reduce the amount of unintelligent useless spam, trolls, bots, and flames in the other topics.

it is probably not so much to restrict real life people, but more to restrict bots and spammers.. i am guessing

I personally don't like the restriction of where people can post and do not think it is the best idea. I have not seen other forums doing this, so I was just wondering why this forum was doing it? I mean isn't the point of a forum to allow people to post wherever they want? Huh

It's 5 Posts and 4 hours logged in to be able to post everywhere.

It's 10 posts in order to put links into your signature.
