i mine for fun at really low khash (doge, moon)

rather invest into the coins than buy the hardware

the only coin worth investing into hardware is probably bitcoins (if you can get Ths)

spend 1k on a graphics card or buy a thousands of each type of coin

don't put all your eggs in one basket! Grin

I've been mining litecoin for awhile and switched to bitcoin (til the big jump).
Messed up with the hardware and bought 3x 5770s.. should've went with 1 7950 or something instead.

7950's are the way to go.

Been mining for about 4 months now, running a few rigs...
Though I have a feeling at the end of summer, GPU mining will be pointless. Pick up some cheap FPGAs!

I tried mining with an old PC with a GeForce 8600. Gave up after I made 0.001 or less BTC in 2 days.

I'm also mining just for the fun of it with CPU+GPU not even at max. (around 2MH/s), it's not for the amount of bitcoins but I understand this helps secure and distribute the network by putting my little grain of sand, so the miner is my new background app on the PC like the clock but much more social Wink
did you ask your parents that you could waste their money?
I don't consider running the miner in the background while I use the computer a reasonable waste, I still turn off the computer when I go to sleep.
