Many merchants have been trying to use bitcoin especially in the hype but idk if the numbers increased or stay after that and bear market soon after so mass adoption is really a challenge.
Every day new and new users are entering the bitcoin community and we will not be able to know who acquire and how much each person holds, eventhough the price of bitcoins is fluctuating the market will start to recover soon with a huge bang which can bring a breakthrough for all the bitcoin holders.
I can't count how many people are using bitcoin in the world, maybe all of country have people use bitcoin although their country still not available for using bitcoin as transaction payment.
It is very hard to count that how many people are using bitcoin and how many people are investing because there are allot of countries that has millions of people who buy and investing in bitcoin. But we cannot count them in number. I think in entire world almost 99 percent of people are using it and making investments. 
Just to get an idea of how many people are using bitcoin.
All I can say is that there so much people right now is using bitcoin as it is the most popular crypto this time. I think there more than billion, I guess? But in some circumstance bitcoin's value drop from the start of 2018 and I guess that is because people are leaving bitcoin?

There are very less people have more than a BTC in his hand because Bitcoin is very popular in recent time so the recent people had no Bitcoin as much as possible the world investors who invested in the previous time they will hold their large amount of Bitcoin as their investment in their wallet.

Not all the people has bitcoin meaning they are using this cryptocurrency specially the moment you posted this thread in 2011 when most of the people who bought bitcoin hold this and just this recent years they have spending,and same reason why many bitcoins are floating in the air because those who hold the crypto turns up to forgot their wallet addresses or private keys Just to get an idea of how many people are using bitcoin.

It's quite tough to count exact amount of bitcoin people have but you can have some idea from different types of ICOs projects. Nowadays user of bitcoin getting increase day by day across the world because bitcoin is very popular among the investors.
From the time I started using bitcoin, I think bitcoin users are just few. As time goes by, users of bitcoin are getting higher and higher. The only thing I do not want when its users became high, I am seeing many posts from socail media that says bitcoin is a scam. In fact, bitcoin is not a scam. The only thing that scams people is the investment site where they invested their money at the wrong time.
no one can know how many people have btc because there is no system or regulation that can record the use of btc for each person

I prefer to keep altcoins. Therefore, I think that not all users of a cryptovalue own Bitcoin. I think from time to time there will be more and more users who own a cryptocurrency but do not own Bitcoin.
Investment is a choice, and the choice of each investor will be different from each other depending on his search for interesting information according to each version. Maybe for those who don't have bitcoin they only search for information about altcoins, including you. However, you need to know how the history of crypto currency and bitcoin is the forerunner to the existence of crypto currency. No body can not tell exactly that how many people have bitcoin but any block chain account tell about that in which account bitcoin is contain. But that account can not show any identity of account holders name and address of owner of account.
We cannot count with numbers especially those who hold also anonymous, which certainly still holds a lot and may also lose.

we cannot exactly count in numbers. Since there is no tracking or centralized domain managing the usage. There are few countries approved the use of BTC but still there are countries not legalized BTC. But what we can see is if the person earning profit through crypto means he can have few BTC. But
