On telegram people are in a hurry and actively promoting their coin to be voted on Kucoin because of it's vote based features on telegram, I just voted one of the coin I'm holding and I'm sure many holders will also this, besides Kucoin is a good and trusted exchange.

That sound a good system to list a coin but how much daily trade in BTC/USD does KuCoin have? Does it make it worthwhile to try to get listed there?

I don't know for the other site but here are some deal how much the payment or fee if you want to list your coin.
check this from cryptopia https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Paytopia
And KuCoin here https://www.kucoin.com/#/vote

I think KuCoin is vote base no payment or fee needed if you wan't to list a coin in their exchange site so it is depends on people votes.

I found a thread same as your question so this thread will help you know about the other exchange sites fees here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/exchanges-coin-listing-fees-3285119

Binance is becoming too big, okex is also a big exchange and needs to compete with binance. More competition will help to lower the listing fees. In the mean time there are new exchanges like crytaldash where you can get a listing by community votes

So many exchanges out there right now. How can someone make a decision which one to use?

I do not know. But I heard that the fee to list on Bittrex exchange is 4 BTC. I listened to this from a friend of mine. Hope this will help you if you want to list your penny on Bittrex exchange

4 BTC is a huge amount. How much do they trade per 24 hours?

You have to give evidence links that prove that what you say is true. I do not think that to list on Binance exchange will need to $ 1 million. Binance is a good exchange and has very cheap transaction fees. So I think the coins will not have to be paid when listed on Binance

So you think Binance is crypto's buddy?

They only exist to make money. There are now so many shitty projects that the big exchanges can pick and choose and charge vast amounts and they know they'll get it. Why would they not charge for something that can make others vast amounts too?

Great information in the link, thanks for that but the $1 million is so excessive. Those exchanges are raking it in !

So that is why I love and use Kucoin exchange. It's a great exchange for new projects. Kucoin always listens to the opinion of the community. So they do not charge the project and let the community decide on the issue

The smaller ones may list prices. I doubt the bigger ones will give out that information freely if they have that policy.

Back in the day Dash paid Kraken $50,000 to get listed on there which is one hell of a bargain.

I've read that in addition to the listing fee Binance demand ongoing annual payments too in the hundreds of thousands of dollars and possibly more. The only way around that is to make your coin so huge that Binance and other exchanges would be throwing money away by not listing it.

Bravo. Now that part of your post is the best way to teach those exchanges a lesson !

So many exchanges out there but does anybody know the fee they charge to list a coin?

Upon the familiarity and usage most of the exchange taken the token or coin to list in their exchange. I am not sure is there any paid service to list the to token in the exchange.
I recently voted for some projects to list on kucoin exchange via voting bit on telegram mate.
Hope you can get any project with the same possibility soon dude.

If I am correct Bittrex was charging 5 BTC to list a coin. But It was last year and since they may have changed the rate with the bitcoin value
Edit: sorry, Bittrax says it doesn't charge a fee according to this
Bittrex does not currently charge a fee for listing a token on our Exchange. We believe in promoting the blockchain industry, and we have spent, and will continue to invest, significant resources to review tokens for listing on our Exchange

Binance isn't decentralized
I can confirm bittrex fee is 5 BTC also i think it is very strange for centralized exchange to charge a fee of 1M$ in BTC  while other exchange fee rated from 1 btc to 10 BTC like kucoin , cryptopia and hitbtc .
But i like the way of community voting to be listed for free specially with shardex , kucoin and cryptaldash .
Lets wait for new generation to come (decentralized exchanges )

Kucoin is based on vote and each vote costs 0.5 KCS and each user can vote up to 50 times per project
Yobit listing is based on auction More BTC in Yobicode - more chance for listing
Poloniex doesn't charge a fee, it's based on multiple criteria
HitBTC same as Poloniex
Crypto-Bridge charges 2 BTC
Bitlish doesn't list any coin
