it can be. Where i live (The Netherlands), there are still rather some of these old meters installed. Just hang a powerfull magnet under them and done ;-)

you do realize that they DO track power consumption not only locally at your power meter? This could slide past for a normal household but not for a 50-70 hi-end videocard setup which probably draws like 15kw/h or about $1500/month in power usage depending on your tariffs

1400 Kh/s right now.
Will be 2100 in few days as soon as my 3rd R9 280x will arrive!

I'm going to sit with that amount for a while and reinvest in a second rig as soon as this first one gives me some $ back, so probably the next month!

I started with 80KH/s in late October 2013.  I mined LTC and other ALTs and have reinvested a few times over to now be sitting at about 4MH/s.  Also, the occasional inexpensive GPU find on Craigslist didn't hurt either.

Just 550 kh/s with a single 7950 boost

SAME, til tomorrow then can wire up 5 280X beasts XD (MSI) and going to water cool them after they pay for themselves in about 2 weeks (If I mine new cryptos and dump ASAP after they hit an exchange)

Tomorrow will have about 4-4.8M/hash (depends if I wanna keep my 7950 going???

Also ASICs aren't anything to worry about, I heard because of GDDR6 RAM coing out this year that one video card with GDDR6 RAM could possibly hash up to 2.5 M/hash PER CARD, for the same price as a 7990, so in theory if that is true ASICs will fade away until they are better Cheesy lets hope GDDR6 can do that
