Topic: How She ROI’d Her Mining Rig in 8 Weeks in a Bear Market (Read 800 times)

Well I actually ROI'd a GPU in less than 6 hours when the ZEC launches back in Nov 2016.

Back then the price was crazy high on Poloniex, basically one ZEC was worth more than one BTC and if you were on an actual pool that paid you could of been one of the first few deposits and made crazy gains for almost no work.

The issue with this is that we don't see these gains everyday. It was basically pure luck and it won't help you out in the future.

Haha I did same.  I had 30 x 6 card machines at the time and hit zec as soon as it went live and sold it as soon as it hit my account.  Man those were the days...,  People were FOMO hard on Zec - Supply and Demand baby, it's a beautiful thing.
I also remember those days, but I happened to be unlucky and couldn’t find a working pool that processed withdrawals in time as a lot of pools either delayed withdrawals or didn’t let you withdraw immediately at all, so I didn’t make nearly as much as you guys did. Still broke even after a while on a six card rig, which was the only GPU rig I had back then. A bit better than the gambling some people do today with mining an extremely low difficulty coin and hoping it goes up in the future, but such a situation likely won’t ever happen again.

It was pure luck. There were many pools but only 2 of them actually paid out a few hours after the blocks matured. I think suprnova was one of them.

However you had to use the regular address, I think it started with a "t" instead of the privacy address "z" to get paid. So even if you were on the right pool, the payouts to "z" address were delayed by a few DAYS since the ZEC launch had issues processing those transactions with those addresses and pools stopped sending out any payouts.

The ZEC launch was madness. I remember all those "ZEC Cloud mining" services that popped up and most of them became very bad investments to whomever bought a contract.

Crazy to believe it was almost 2 years ago... time sure flies.

That's the second moment for me, the first one is PayCoin (XPY) in 2015, has everyone remember this moment? I'm still using Antminer S1, S2, S3 and some of Dragon miners. Did you all remember about GAW?

Wow - so what is the special coin that everyone is mining?

I'm seeing 1 Gh/s on Nicehash / Westhash go for almost 1 BTC (per 24 hrs) -- while normally it is 1/5 the price.

At ZEC's moment, I was starting from Testnet (that's funny) On the Testnet I just using CPU mining, I use GPUs when the genesis block launched. This is one of the best moment we have.  Cool

bait.  Roll Eyes

since thats all she was interested in, its an accurate description pertaining to her & her mining endeavor

initial investment was tied to a USD value, that investment has not been recovered yet.   so yeah. bait.

My first day of mining when I received my Z9mini on 6th Sept was 0.08802152 ZEC

WAKE UP!! NO MORE PROFITABLE MINER NOW!!!  Angry Angry Angry
And you started on September 6...
The video was uploaded on the last week of August but it indicated "ROI'd in 8 months", means that there were already thousands of Z9 ASICs mining Zencoins and others 8 months before that video.
bait.  Roll Eyes
Nope, it's "clickbait".
Not to encourage Antminer Z9 sales, but for youtube views Smiley
The bad thing is, some users got the confidence to buy Z9s even if its too late because of this post,
and it's 90% their fault for not researching (not VoskCoin's).

I always strive to illustrate this in videos now, especially when it comes to ASIC mining because the returns diminish so quickly

DON't buy ASICS, especially not from BITMAIN, the Batches are so huge, that the DIFF will always skyrocket and all your ROI Calculations are not working out.

I ever heard that at the first time Zec price was hit 17 BTC (at that time, BTC prices still under 1K). Did you start to mine Zec from the genesis block?

Well yes, but It doesn't matter, because she was sold all the coins after the video shoot. Is it right Vosk?  Cheesy

What I saw here isn't only about ROI, it's more like "If you want to profit from mining, you should choose the right mining hardware" and also pick the right coin to mine.

For those who have not received batch 2 is in danger...
Another Never ROI miner is born ...  Cry

Bottom line: If you are lucky one who bought the first batch and received at end of June then you are ROI now!
Second batch only shipped at end of August, and with shitty hashboard cannot overclock over 681M but first batch was overclocked to 750M!

Step 1: buy an ASIC
Step 2: plug it in
Step 3: walk away
Step 4: 8  weeks later = ROI Cheesy

Such skill, much wow Cheesy

haha im just razing, good job Mrs.Vosk!

Haha well you did really sum up the life of an ASIC miner, she’s my baseline for someone that mines a bit but it doesn’t consume their lives.... like us xD

I’ll pass this along to her Cheesy

I saw a return of capital investment several weeks ago by luck.  Paid for a unit with LTC when it was over 160USD a coin; about 11.5LTC all in.  LTC dropped like a rock to 60USD while waiting for the pre-order.  I figure the best way to judge a return on capital is to auto-exchange the output for the coin spent.  The one little Mini has been averaging .25LTC a day on MiningPoolHub using 330watts (OCed to 15,500 sol/s).  Has generated about 18LTC to date.  I'm still short as of USD but I'd be hurting anyway if I just held (HEDL?) the LTC.  Now I have a profit, coin-for-coin.

.25LTC a day on 330watts?  Eat your heart out, L3++.  Almost like buying Biakal Minis before the Dash price explosion of early 2017.

Yeah I hear ya, was semi frustrating last year I’d be buying hardware and I always had more USD, but I was holding less and less coins! lol

Now this year with an opposite market.. we are getting the reverse, more coins and less USD

In the long game, seems more appealing to me

Those miners were awesome @ that time lol, my baikalminer mini was definitely one of my favorite miners.. was also my first ASIC so maybe I have a soft spot for it xD
