It's better to use cold storage, so there is less chance that your money will be stolen, and do not download any third-party applications, often people who are seriously working in this area have a separate laptop for some transactions.

really nice question and i do not think how to answer it correctly as the is no recipe in being defense against scammers
in any case, even scammers become more and more sophisticated in their invention. If it would be so easy to circumvent fraud, then this issue would not be relevant for today.

Don't invest in a project that you haven't gotten reviews on. Seek to know what the crypto audience think about it. Check and weigh out the responses. Make sure you are convinced enough before investing in it. Do not share your info easily with anyone you meet. Guard your details as much as you can. stay safe.
you can ask some peopel from the community you are going to invest and listen carefully to themthis is how ypu can avoid scammers

Don't trust anyone easily or totally. Everywhere is infested with lurking scammers waiting for their prey, they would do everything and the most stupidiest thing just to convince us and bite there bait. We have to be careful dealing online and secure everything we got.  Do some research first before jumping in to something, google is always there for us.

Avoid deception in the ICO - it's almost impossible. All developers begin with the goal of honestly and noblely implement the project and on the near and far future to impoverish their lives. Failures can overtake any person. I believe in ICO and its developers-good people.

It's better that you keep asking about it in this forum, learn a lot from the conditions that are listed on each Exchange.
Then go back to this forum and see the replies from the people who support you here.

Need luck and a little care. Although at the moment there are scammers who create projects a head higher than the real working group.

No luck brother, you just need to be careful and if you even get a 1% doubt then dont get involved in that ICo or if you are buying and selling something they always use escrow.

No one can avoid to be scammed. The best thing I can suggest is to examine careful the projects you want to invest in. Don't be lazy to read the whitepaper and find the information about the founders. Listen the other suggestions, but remember that you don't have to blame anyone, cause it is your choice.

i think first you have to learn the basics and how to value a project based on the whitepaper, the company behind it and similar things which requires a lot of research.

I think it's impossible to protect yourself from all scammers at all. The only thing possible to minimize attacks. These are reliable purses, as well as promising projects. And of course very often monitor news and all the latest information.
