When our brain believes there will be a positive outcome, it releases endorphins,

I'm not an expert in this field, but your statement seems wrong to me.
Our brains release endorphins AFTER a positive experience or outcome, not before that. The expectation of a positive outcome doesn't necessarily lead to our brains releasing endorphins.
Controlling your emotions is easier said than done. I don't believe that emotional control is the most important thing when it comes to winning more at gambling. You could make perfectly logical bets and still lose money. We have to remember that gambling is about luck, not about emotions and logic. Just keep making small bets and gambler for fun. That's my way of dealing with my emotions while gambling.

More often than not, you control your emotions not to win more bets but to prevent your losses from getting bigger and bigger.

It's probably not your brain that tells you to continue betting, to chase after your losses, or that you will hit the jackpot soon and become rich. I think this is all your emotion. Your brain is probably logical and is silently telling you the reality, that if you won't stop you'd lose more, but you shut it off because your emotions got the better of you.
When we hear the word gambling, ofcourse we ought to be careful, the first thing that springs to mind is self-control, because we will undoubtedly lose functionality whenever we fail to keep control of ourselves. Emotions are constantly present to persuade us to stay or continue losing money, particularly when we have yet to achieve significant earnings. The brain has been detected and keeps our system stable even in dangerous circumstances. Winning is our primary objective, and we're committed to making as much money as we possibly can.

Exactly what every gambler should know, do not play with all the money you have to avoid losing everything just deposit the amount you wish to play with and once you play there is nothing more or less your emotions will control you to do something else. Every gambler is risk taker but the ability for the gambler to make up his mind to accept that in gambling you  either win or lose and for the reason one must be ready to accept any our come weather good or bad.
I agree with your what you said about the best way to control ones emotions in gambling and win more bets. One thing the most gamblers especially the the gambling addicts are yet to come to terms with is the fact that it's totally unwise for them to gamble with more than 30% of their income. Gambling with more than 30% of ones income make the person to always stake more bets even when he's not winning because he wants to make sure he gets all the money he's already staked and most times you see them going totally bankrupt because their quest to make sure the recover the loss.

Sometimes it takes experience before we can start thinking clearly because we have been on that road before and we know what comes next. Rekt!

That is why experience says more of how our emotion should be guided. If we have been a thing in a longtime, there is tendency that we have better understanding than those who are just new, like a newbie is not same thing compared to an old user. So a well experienced gambler knows gambling is about winning and losing so if in a loss occurs, a more experienced gambler knows when to walk away. I agree that there is a link between winning or losing to emotion and how our brain function.

How can you brain calm down, if the whole gambling scene are geared to target the stimulation of those endorphins? Let's move away from Sports betting and focus on Slots...

The third party Slot providers have perfected the strategy to develop games that actively stimulate the brain to release those endorphins... but just enough to keep you going for longer and longer. Example : Most slot games will let you win small amounts on a continued basis.. which will trigger the release of those "good feel" endorphins.... and you will subconsciously continue doing it, because you gradually get addicted to it.

They cannot develop something that will not give you those small "rewards" ...because you will stop playing... so they allow you to win small amounts..... but if you look at the overall graph of your play, you will notice that you are losing all your money over a longer period. (This is the pattern ==> lose lose lose ...small win .... lose lose lose lose .... small win..... lose lose lose lose lose .... free spins... lose lose lose...... )  Roll Eyes

Not about brain function or not but with some gambler more push forward their greedy than stopping for more bet, its not difficult how to control emotion actually when winning position. Put and use limit of winning amount when betting in some gambling platform, when your winning amount have reached target is not any ideas keep more betting and stop immediately without think will lucky and earn more winning. Second way can adopt when raise amount target is withdrawing about 70% until 80% in gambling account fund, you can bet with 20% fund left and if can't winning yet with amount left is time for stopping.
Don't push in greedy actually in the winning moment because you can loss all your winning amount if not stop yet.

Good topic about duality of survival instinct and endorphins. I don't exactly think survival instinct drives us to negativity tho. It orders us to do something. Something impactful for our life to increase our survival chance. Trying to make more money is behavior directly tied to this order. Many rich people are less stimulated with this than us. Yes when we lose this can totally drive us to negativity. But trying to achieve something impactful is very important in life.
Endorphins can actually be negative sometimes because of relaxing feel that makes you try less.

So, it talks about the brain functions.  Grin

It's difficult to tell our own brain to calm down, I think many will agree with that. When you are in a moment where you are losing and feel like the RTP is not working at all, that's when you try to chase losses without even thinking further. Our brain hates losing and we just want our money back or maybe more.
I don't disagree with this but telling yourself to calm down is a feat that is not gained thru the first time a player gambles. Sometimes it takes experience before we can start thinking clearly because we have been on that road before and we know what comes next. Rekt!

Sports betting has always been a very exciting scenario for many people, but at the same time I see that it is a very unstable ground for newcomers who do not know where they are entering, so it is very important that they know how to manage their emotions during games and not underestimate the power of the mind because that will certainly be the difference between a successful experience with gambling or a sequence of losses that would be quite frustrating.

This is certainly not an easy thing, as "emotional management" involves a lot of discipline and strategy, something that most gamblers unfortunately do not have, which is why it is essential that every player sets financial and time limits in gambling and that he strictly adheres to them. regardless of the outcome. That way, it's easier to stop gambling than simply waiting for that "voice of conscience" to come telling you it's time to stop gambling for today.
It is also important to overcome the temptation to always increase bets to try to recover losses, thus avoiding the dreaded spiral of losses that will make you reach the bottom of the well faster.

Patience is a crucial virtue in guessing. Not every day will be a victory and understanding this is essential to keep emotions under control. It's important not to get carried away, as making impulsive decisions can result in later regrets.

Why learn how to control emotions? It's human nature therefore it's just a common behaviour. Just keep ourselves responsible and disciplined at all times. We can't avoid being emotional especially when losing and there's a regret. For example, a gambler under a big loss will be emotional and there will be things in his mind telling him to chase those losses. Fortunately, that gambler is always responsible for his actions and instead, relaxes his mind and decides to just take a break from gambling for the meantime.
We need to learn controlling emotion because it may bring bad impacts if the emotion is  out of control. In gambling, when you become emotionally, you may lose all your funds a day because you try to recover the losses. Sure, it is human nature, but if you have no ability to control it, you are probably out of control. It is the same as discipline and responsibility, you can't master them if you never learned them. You gave the example of people chasing the losses, they will never remember about relaxing mind or breaking if they can't control emotion. When gamblers feel emotionally because of losses, they will always try to gamble more and more until they get enough wins.

honestly, you will still gain fame for being the biggest thread creator in this section of the forum. but talking about emotions, gambling involves many different games, in gambling games that depend on luck like roteta, dice, slot they don't need things like emotions, this doesn't affect the outcome of the game, for example games like the lottery , if a person buys the ticket while they are sad, happy or anxious, it will not affect the lottery result. in the same way that if a person goes to a casino and plays slots while that person is sad, depressed or happy, the result of the slot game will not be changed, so emotions do not change at all in games of chance where winning depends on luck

card games, which are games in which you need to have knowledge and strategy and which are games in which you need to control your emotions very well, while in the case of sports betting you also need to control your emotions and analyze the games very carefully, are very sensitive games in which the result of the bet depends on the choices that people make, for example if a person is a fan of Barcelona, even though that person loves Barcelona a lot and I need that person when analyzing the Barcelona game against some other team that person don't put their love for barcelona into the game and look at barcelona's strengths and weaknesses

and be honest and don't make the mistake of betting on barcelona even though you see that the opponent's results are very good, there are many markets within a game, there are over and under goals, there are cards, corners, so all of this is necessary to analyze and bet with Be very careful, without emotions to be able to make money with sports betting

The thing is aside from the @OP list of what the brain can do to make one survive, the brain can also be the cause of one's ruins and devastation. If left uncheck, dopamine can ruin all the brains control.  Since this chemical sets our brains to look for more fun and it do want the same level or higher level of excitement but the same activities degenerate the level of excitement so we tend to take our action to the next level and then to the extreme.

So we better moderate and have responsible gambling in order to keep ourselves within the boundaries.  With the winning aspect, I do not think our brain have the effect on it since gambling game results are random.  No matter how force our brains to win our session, it will be futile and can even lead us to depression because of the things not going our way.  It is best to moderate ourselves and accept whatever the result of our gambling session is.

Being carried away either during winning or losing will really trigger being emotional. We can't avoid that.

But as long we stay being responsible in gambling at all times, those emotions will be manageable and won't be able to affect those good decisions.

When our bets were losing our mind continues to wager with the bet value being doubled so to recover back what we've lost earlier. This used to recover back what we've lost, but the same makes an end card for gambling. Most of the time I've encountered it, at such situation keep on doubling the bet amount and at some point the mind decides do or die going for a single roll with the available balance. This is completely risky and majority of the time I've ended losing everything. When we're into gambling we need to have control on emotions which can be achieved by lowering the bet value on losing bets.

Doing something like the above doesn’t mean we have a gambling problem. It means we have to understand how our brain works. Then, we have to realize that our brain doesn’t understand things the way our mind and consciousness do.

We can then pull our brain back by saying something simple like, “Brain, calm down.”

For me, I will say that the only best way to control your emotions when it comes to gambling is to accept the fact that in gambling, anything can happen, and as such, to stop having high expectations whenever you gamble (i.e seeing it like a do-or-die affair), whereby if you lucky to play and win, you accept it in God faith, and likewise if you are also not lucky to play and lose, you also accept it on good faith, knowing that those are what comes with gambling, and as such better not to worry about things you know that you can't change.

Leo is resting.
Just limit the damn money you use on your bets by depositing only a specific amount instead of, well, everything. Your emotions can get in the way of you, but in the end, a gambling session (mostly for casinos I guess) is in the end a method for you to release emotions, to enjoy it more specifically. If you really want to win more bets, increase your bank roll and play more. The games always have a 50/50 (maybe less because of house edge) chance of win/loss most of the time, your emotions only influence how much you "play", not "win'.

If only it were that easy to tell our brains to calm down. But that's true because the brain tells us to do something we want to do. The brain gives the command, followed by the will and the body. But there is a heart that is also a filter of what we want to do. If the heart feels uncomfortable, the body will respond such as anxiety, worry, sweating, and others. When the brain still forces us to do something but the heart doesn't agree, that's where conflict occurs and can make us confused, and what's worse is that our head will hurt.

But when the heart can control everything, the heart can calm the brain to calm down, which is immediately followed by the body responding too. And immediately, awareness will come to us by showing the impact. However, that is not always the case because the reactions can vary.

You can actually control how you react to certain things, so it's not an excuse that we are 'hardwired' into something when we can avoid them if we consciously wanted to. Again, being aware of what's the problem is always the hardest past of freeing yourself from impulsive decisions and bad habits related to gambling. A lot of people submits to the 'fact' that we cannot control what we are while in reality, it's the opposite.

We can then pull our brain back by saying something simple like, “Brain, calm down.”
And after giving your brain some words like that, take a deep breath. Inhaling and exhaling will help you to come down so that will be able to control your emotions.

Just limit the damn money you use on your bets by depositing only a specific amount instead of, well, everything.
That's doable but if someone who's too easy on himself will be able to cross that limit and pull everything that he's got. Whether it's from his pocket or from his savings or holdings in crypto. Loosing control to one's emotion is definitely gonna make us crazy.
