Congrats. I see you are a newbie and you already have a few merits. This means you are doing things right. Perhaps you can share your journey with others and earn even more while helping the newcomers. I'm a Jr member, I have 0 merits. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I will keep improving till someone notices. It just gets harder now to post unique content when there are so many posts already. Starting a thread that is already there seems to be a bad thing so it's much harder for us than it was for the others in the beginning. Never give up. Keep going. Merits will come.

Agree with the guy's ideas. Practice makes perfect, so let keep practicing, be helpful and kindful all the time (might be most), write as high quality posts as possible. Then sweet results will come to you.

Write your threads with the objectives to learn knowledge, to help users, to share experiences, not to get merits; then merits will come naturally.

There are so many available topics on the same question like yours, so you don't need to start a new one. What you should do is searching and reading around the forum, especially in Beginners & helps; Meta sections, where you can find answers for what you want.
In short, what you should do to get merits are:
Be positive about merit system
Think different, be creative and write high quality, creative, unique posts
Be helpful in the forum naturally; don't try to be helpful.

Doing those steps daily, then practice makes perfect and merits will come to you.
