This is getting out of hand. Bitcoins are still not ready for "my friends"

Couldn't agree with this more.

While at the conference I tried making my first non-online, person to person purchase. It was a nightmare. I couldn't setup the blockchain client on my iphone with using a computer (which we didn't have with us).

The website for blockchain won't let you scan a qr code because it says you must use a supported browser.

During the poker game I hosted, there came a point where we actually ended up typing in someone's entire address manually (it may have happened more than once).

The transactions are slow and confusing.

If i can't get it to work without being quite frustrated, there's not much hope for many of my friends.

I was going to troll and say... Well that's what you get for useing an iPhone.  However the same problem exists for some droids. It doesn't seem to like the stock browser or Opera Mini.  Chrome however set to default works perfectly.  I have to admit for myself I would rather use chrome for most of my mobile browser needs.  But some people don't venture outside of the stock browser.  .

Is Bitpay how to start accepting Bitcoins on a website?

Bitpay abd Coinbase are pretty easy for quick injection.  You do have many devs who have taken the time to build scripts for some of the popular commerce software.

Put bitcoin paper wallets with directions in geocaches.  I think I am going to do this myself.  It would definitely get some more people into bitcoin.

Geocahes are awesome. That is the "Treasure Hunting" hobby right? Where people leave codes/trails for each other to follow/solve.

Yeah..I'd def go in search of some bitcoins :p

I have tried to try out that hobby a couple times but never actually followed through.

Run naked through the streets with bitcoin slogans painted on your body.

Great...make sure to have a QR code on your back so people can scan it as you run by and send you donations.

I am speaking to local business and pointing them in the direction of bitpay. this cost them nothing brings publicity and helps bitcoin become excepted. I tell them they may not even get any bitcoin transaction happening yet but they will be noticed. small business seem to be very receptive to the idea.
If you search the forums there is a link somewhere to a couple PDF copies of trifold pamphlets that you might find useful.
Yeah thanks

It started the rebellion in Egypt Smiley Remember?

I remember rebellion in Egypt started because coalition of fucked-up countries decided to overthrow no longer suitable regime put in place by themselves earlier, through pouring a lot
of money and other resources including co-ops to NGO and other similar spying agencies. Primary use of Facebook was to pinpoint at least some members of the resistance (those dumb
enought to use Facebook themselves or those who have friends dumb enough to use Facebook and post info on their resistance friends not using Facebook) so they can be neutralized,
bribed or whatever else the easier way.

Are you watching Fox? I bet you do because you seem to have no clue about anything that matters.

Lol, no I don't watch Fox. And I'm glad you can make such a generalized opinion about me from talking about Facebook. You're a real open minded guy.

Ok,   now I see where you're are coming from.  An Alex Jones type of guy. Although I'm not a main stream media user, I do watch Fox sometimes for the comedy.( actually I watch Alex Jones also for the comedy...)

Yes , there is a possibility that the rebellion in Egypt was sparked by "powers" from the  outside . But the will of the people to participate was there 1st and the "evil" facebook/twitter was part of it as well. Especially in getting the word out of Egypt .

You both are living in very fucked up part of the world, maybe to move somewhere else? No, wait! Stay where you are and report on how bad situation is at your place so that we
others can make proper decisions on what to accept and what to reject. Future generations will be thankful for your sacrifice and might even promote you to saints or something.  Cheesy

Just because we live in a fucked up part of the world, doesn't make Facebook any less useful.

I'm confused.

How is it out of hand? And what do you mean coins are not ready? Don't you mean they are not ready?

Jeez , you are going around spreading this FUD while at the same time saying that we have to get the "real world" businesses into bitcoin. How do you propose to do it and have no connection to facebook, youtube, google and the rest? this IS the real world today ( as much as I hate it).

Yeah. Even real world business is having to look to facebook to get an audience. How can you expect to merge with business if you won't even connect with them?

The age old question.... What was life before The Facebook?  Lol

Lol. I don't even remember, I was in like 8th, 9th or 10th grade when it became popular. So it's been here about 1/3 of my life.

1. Join and make Facebook groups, ex:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/BitCoinNews/

2. Make YouTube videos and hare them with your friends, ex:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dy4-0tJrGnw

Do not deal with Facebook, Google, Twitter or any other dataminers, profilers and privacy invaders! Do not listen people like FinShaggy, who are missing the larger picture here and
might actualy be co-ops. Bitcoin and other cryptocoins are not just another normal thing out there, they are already labeled as a threat to existing system, by the system itself.

I don't use social networks anymore due to the amount of drama that follows them.  However sad but true fact is some people would be unaware of the world around them if they didn't see it on sites such as FB.  But I will also ssy with that logic being known a face book presence would be wasted effort.  Bitcoin isn't pretty. It's peer to peer but isn't social. This is the social side of it.  A good number of the trend whores on FB wouldn't even take the time to use this forum for research or question and answer.  I'm not saying everyone who uses FB is an idiot mind you.  I am saying if they can't plug and play most won't buy into it.

Lol

So you think it's stupid to talk about bitcoin on Facebook or Google or Twitter?

It sounds like you don't want anyone to hear about Bitcoin, and I'm pretty sure YOU might actually be co-ops, trying to keep cryptocurrency silent.

If they labeled it a threat we need MORE voices. We need people to see that cryptocoins ARE normal things and that NORMAL people use them. If we can get that message out we can make sure no one is getting arrested for Bitcoin behind closed doors.
