Going by the algorithm it would take well over a year to gain hero status. You can buy an account but people do charge 2BTC+ for one.
Its much less now. I saw one seller trying to get 0.55 BTC and still waiting.
All those suggesting the OP about buying a Hero Account should also make him aware of the risks involved. The original owner who sold the account or got the account hacked may come back to claim it, or if the account can be banned if it had shared IP with a lot of accounts which were spamming.
Another risk is that the account could get negative trust if someone notice the sale. This could make the hero account useless if you plan to use it on sig campaign or running a business.
