Tokens can be earned by joining Bounties. Go to the Marketplace>Bounties and you will find several ICO campaigns there. Aside from ICOs, you can also earn tokens from Airdrops, however profit here is not guaranteed - tokens from airdrops sometimes get dumped. You can also offer services related to your skills.

If you are the able to view the tokens on etherscan but they are not showing on myetherwallet, then you need to add a custom token. View the token on etherscan and click on it, select the smart contract tab and add the custom token information on your MEW, it will begin showing when you are viewing your tokens on MEW.

you may have to add Custom token, then enter the token address, token name, and decimal token, then click save and it will automatically appear in your balance.
myetherwallet is a universal service. Even if your ETH walelt doesn't support ERC20 tokens, you can load your private keys to the myetherwallet and see your tokens.
There are a lot of ways to get tokens. First, you can join random airdrops and wait for their tokens to come to your Wallet. You can also join campaigns which let you get a lot of tokens because you are part of their campaign period which helps them to be known. You can also buy tokens but you have to be cautious when buying tokens.
