Merit system was presented for the better. Which expresses human personality. Merit means more than you are good, efficient, as well.

If Merit is an instrument to show that someone is good, what can be used to show that someone is bad ? New Flag system ? Wrong answer, because person can get a positive feedback or neutral. What I would like to say, that there must be an option to demerit someone for shitpost Cheesy

The following table summarized the weekly sMerit distribution by week:

Bear in mind that the most recent week’s data is yet incomplete in the table, covering Monday to Friday (but still lacking the weekend’s data). Also dates are in Spanish, since that is my locale.

As we can see, over the last week there are around 500 to 600 sMerit weekly awarders that send sMerit (column nFrom). There are also between 800 and 900 weekly sMerit receivers (column nTo). Roughly, each week there are 4-5k sMerits being awarded. It’s not that scarce nor difficult to earn some, although earning a lot requires quite some dedication.

To be honest, I think that we should not take any artificial efforts in order to acquire merits. This forum is all about seeking and sharing the knowledge of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. Thus, one should acquire the knowledge from this forum and share his knowledge with the community. Merit is just a system to recognise the efforts of contribution, I would say it's just a byproduct of the process of quality contribution to the forum.

Most people on bitcointalk forum find it very difficult in knowing the reality behind getting of merits on the forum. I think it is a major issue that needs to be addressed and I would like to share the little knowledge I have about this merit.
To start with, we all make numerous posts and for every post you make to be catchy for readers on this forum, it should be constructive, of high quality and creative. If it happens like that, getting merits will be very simple for you. Can you also share yours here?

Hi guys,
I wonder how can i increase my merit ?
Thank you so much
Hey, coincidentally. I have the same question as you.
Merit can be donated from quality articles or updated every 3 months based on quantity / quality of posts. I'm not entirely sure about it.
From my readings on this forum, merits are not updated automatically on a periodic basis. They are earned when people who have the power to give merits  give you for your quality or useful posts.

Maybe posting some posts that are helpful to others can get merits, however, unfortunately, most of the members who need help are just newbie or jr.member, they don't have merits to give you.

Yes but sometimes if we make any post which will be helpful for even senior members, hero members and legendary members then they will merit us.

To get merit you need to write quality, unique, well structured and helpful posts and replies then if someone see your posts and likes it he/she might give you a merit for it.

Let them come naturally my friend. Do not worry about merits and increasing your status. Just try to be a helpful individual to this community. I bet slowly you will receive merits as people will start to appreciate your efforts in the forum. By the way, I have 0 merits, how should I know. right?

This is what I usually consider when posting and replying to threads, three easy and simple things to consider when posting. This may be common-sense but I hope this helps.

Steps:

1. Pick a topic.
Picking a topic to post on to may be the hardest part in the guide but any topic of your choice will do! I usually pick topics that are fresh(post that have few views and replies). Why? Because it would be an advantage if you answered the topic first, there would be no restraints and you can freely say what you want to say. Replying to the thread would be like a plain canvas waiting for unlimited possibilities. Picking an old topic is not quite bad either, especially if the topic is really interesting, but replies would be limited since most of the ideas are already laid off, including what you may be thinking and if this is the case, better not reply anymore and just pick another topic since this would just cause spamming of threads.

In addition, if you picked a fresh topic, people who are viewing the thread will see your reply on top plus it won't be burried with tons of incoming replies. Thus, giving your post a safe and sweet spot for any credit-giver.

2. Know the topic.
Question: Do you know the topic?
If yes: Good! Proceed to step 3.
If no: Research on the topic or go back to step 1.

Researching about the topic doesn't just mean reading an article or two, it can also be(but not required) watching videos about the topic or viewing some infographic about it. Anything goes as long as you understand and learn something new. If you think you're knowledgable enough to answer then proceed to step 3.

3. Answer the topic.
After researching, with your own words, try to answer the topic. Remember that answers may be short or long, it need not to be technical nor scientific. It just need to be clear, concise, and most of all sensible for everyone to understand. And don't even think about plagiarizing an article saying that you've made a good post, because people read, and if people noticed that you just copy/pasted an article then be ready for the consequences. Are you really trying to risk your account for some merits? Merits can be earned anytime but activities, reputation, and trusts takes time.

Now that you have answered the topic, be confident on what you have wrote and try not to think much about receiving merits. Continue on doing quality posts and im sure, little by little, people would notice and reward you for that. That would be all, thank you and godspeed!

In order to do that, you'll have to provide good quality posts on the forum; answer questions that really help people and then those individuals grant you merit.

Hope this helps  Smiley

I can boldly say that this is the most asked question on bitcointalk in 2018.
So the best way to get merit is to post helpful and quality post, dont just type for the sake of typing, let your post contribute something positive.
Merit can only be given,it is not automatic.

You earn merits from people once the content of your posting is in their judgement insightful,
and enriching. It otherwise it takes hardwork to begin to earn merits.

It does not matter the quality of posts because the system does not work properly. There are a lot of people who get merit just for shit comments. I for example lose for a post a minimum hour because English is not my native language and in the end 0 Merit. The system needs to be changed or made some modifications.

Dude to increase your Merit, you need a high quality post, but the bad thing here is even if you post high quality if they ignored it then you still can't get merits, try to impress them by posting lots of high quality and there will be a time the some one will recognize your efforts and he/she will give you a Merit points.

It is hard to get merit if you cannot write good posts with intention to help others in the forum. Helpful, constructive threads will increase your chances to earn merits. Don't try spamming the forum to increase your post counts, to satisfy requirements of campaigns. Doing this will put your account under blacklist of users who are ready to give merits away. Additionally, it also forms yorur profile with bad, low quality threads. It is not good generally.

Merit is given to those who write quality and very roomy posts. The level of merit is raised by the users themselves.
