Maybe it's not "as" bad now. But I still wouldn't use it, Quote from the page.

"You’re right. In fact, I helped the developers with the design of the protocol version 2 and I did a preliminary audit of the protocol. The fact that I haven’t post about it yet is because I have almost no time. My apologize."

Anyway, Bitmessage is flawed, do not use it cause its as good a plaintext email if not worse.

Right, technically everyone receives the message.

EDIT: This posts covered Bitmessage protocol v1.0 before it switched to OpenSSL ECC because of these problems.

Dude, is what I said. Is this parallel universe?

Yeah, I just realized.

Ok thanks for that I'll check all the tutorials and resources I find and see if I can understand the software better whilst using it.

Getting registered with Gribble is vital as well..

I'll check out gribble to and I will also check out bitmessage as I have heard good things of it.

Gribble is the bot that's in the #bitcoin, #bitcoin-dev and #bitcoin-otc Freenode channels.

That's a harsh statement to make.
Could you elaborate on it? Or do you have a source to support your claim?

As far as I know, bitmessage can currently only be used to sent and receive messages, not to encrypt files.

How well does http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitmessage work to encrypt data? I don't think it uses PGP but I might be mistaken? Bit Message is pretty easy to use from what I have done with it.

If you scroll down to "Operation" you can see how it works and what kind of encryption it uses.

Since you now have PGP, might be a good idea for you to get into WOT.

Web of Trust the browser add on?

No Bitcoin-OTC

http://bitcoin-otc.com/

Thanks for that I'm a newbie when it comes to things like this any other useful software that I should check out?

What OS are you using?

Currently windows but willing to install linux if it's got some useful software which you could recommend.

Yeah, http://gpg4win.org/index.html is the easiest software to use. But I prefer GUI-less linux.

It never hurts to have good AV software a firewall and malware protection.
Also check out TrueCrypt to encrypt sensitive data.
