Because only stupid people buy low-end computers. And only stupid people are part of botnet.
you cited the wrong reasons, and the wrong reasoning, but yes, pretty much with a few exceptions you can expect botnet machines to be below average.

I don't see necessity for bulletproof server. For Pool? For C&C? Both can run on either VPS or .onion.
yes. you dont even need centralized c&c these days. it depends on the specific botnet. all i said is that bulletproof costs more than $300 if that's the route you will go.

I tell about 30 to 40% might notice slowdown and do something about it. Remaining 60% are so dumb that nothing will make them think about something being wrong. Including constantly opening/closing DVD tray. Still the possibility to lose 30% of bots is idea many bot herders don't welcome.
you can expect botherders to be VERY fucking pissed if you make them lose bots

Mining will not kill. 51% will kill.
yes, you expend a sizeable chunk of your botnet (which would otherwise be making A LOT of money) to 51% the network with unsure results, at the cost that you may lose a good portion of those bots. good job, you just put your botnet to the worst possible use you could ever put it to. i'm not saying a few people in eastern europe & other locations couldnt do it, but rather that atleast tentatively they have no specific reason to do it, or even to cooperate in letting/making it happen.

again: the botnet threat is grossly over exaggerated.

as soon as the users notice their crappy, slow computers are being even crappier, slower they will do something about it (you/botherder will lose bots)

botnet machines are, for obvious reasons usually much lower-spec hardware. cpu or gpu.

Still the most vulnerable OS is that good old XP, and who is running XP on any decent hardware these days, come on
XP have more security flaws but the reason is that XP distribution is much easier to modify to include rootkit and distribute. And XP also runs everything as admin vs Win7 who needs to launch with elevated privileges for malware to survive reboots.

Why the hate against LTC? I can only see it as a positive addition to the crypto currency "ecosystem" Smiley

Lol, good luck getting a botnet with i5 or better CPUs. Most of the GPUs are crap too.
Do you have any sockpuppets on bitcointalk? Seems like you slipped.

Botnets you can buy do have somewhat public information about the specs if you request them. I'm also interested in other areas of cryptography than just cryptocurrencies, thats why I have some knowledge in the whitehat sector.

3)if people start doing this in any sizeable amount, this will cause an increase in the price for bots.
4)you wont get nearly the amount you think you will. botnet machines are, for obvious reasons usually much lower-spec hardware. cpu or gpu.

the botnet threat scenario is grossly over exaggerated.

Throwing away business idea.

That is the best thing to do with it.

LTC Scrypt is designed to pessimise GPU calcs with CPU calcs. So CPU mining is easier.

What the hell is a 'pessimise'?

you make it sound so easy but doing all these takes time and it is hard to find the right people for the right programs youll never have a botnet unless you have experiance with this and the kids that sell you mix countries for 0.03 have already sold it to 5 or 6 more people . These will bot kill you fast and you will end up losing all so yea go ahead kill liteoins i ll get you the botnet and ill give you the miners hahaah

People illegally mining LTC will just end up with it in an exchange for sale somewhere, and now we have more LTC i don't see how this kills it.

I fail to see how mining on a bot net will kill LTC.

People mined BTC on bot nets for years (and probably still do)....

Maybe if you gained 51%, but it would take many more bots than you suggest... plus the little tidbit that there is little to no incentive to do it..

Throwing away business idea.

1000 malware installs costs somewhat below $100 on dark market.

Its a botnet of 1000 hosts for $100.

LTC Scrypt is designed to pessimise GPU calcs with CPU calcs. So CPU mining is easier.

1 Intel Core i5 bot will bring $5 a day.

1000 bots will bring $5000 a day.

So
1. Buy botnet for $100
2. Buy bulletproof server for $300
3. Install ltc mining pool there
4. Infect botnet with ltc miner
5. Get $5000 a day.

I don't have time for this shit so I throw it away. LTC is shit.

You forgot to factor in the most critical metric... A good nights sleep.

Karma's a bitch they say.

Yes, but ltc (scrypt) is 10 times more vulnerable to botnet cpu mining comparing to bitcoin (sha2) due to more efficient cpu mining.

Most bots I see are Core 2 Duos or Celerons within corporate sector. Surprisingly many PhenomII CPUs, probably owned by gamers looking for crack. Slowest CPU - 700MHz Pentium3 and fastest FX-8130. Core i5 are very rare and not nowhere near 1000 units and even then most of i5 are mobile units in new laptops.

Constant CPU mining will damage botnet. Bots will start to disappear at greater rate because users might notice the constant 100% load. Might pull off 51% with extremely large botnet but with difficulty as it is now I don't know. I have no idea about hashing power required for this.

The whole idea is not so novel. There are people doing this and some have switched between BTC and LTC mining due to price and difficulty fluctuations.

Math adjustments.

1000 installs costs $8 on dark market (mix countries). Brings $0.5 a day.
