I've been in crypto world for quite some time but not so much into ICO and I decided to do an ICO for the thing I've built.

I'm wondering how I'll make people know about it? How do I promote my ICO?

An ANN thread on here, bounty campaigns, maybe an airdrop... but if you want your project to be taken seriously, then you need: white paper, roadmap, use case, details of your own credentials and history etc.

If you begin posting more things about your coin then more users on here will begin to ask you questions about it. Do a campaign for better results.

I know an ICO that really lacks in marketing even though it has a great team. If you're wondering how will you promote your ICO then there's an announcement thread where you can post your ANN to let people know about your ICO. You can also do promotions same as the other ICO's like bounty and airdrop campaigns and let everyone participate. You can also promote on social media sites and other groups. See to it that you're able to answer any questions posted by a member as for me this shows a great support.

I think the most important of ICO is the promotion. It's important to introduce an ICO to people. How to promote ICO well and most potent? The simplest and easiest way to introduce an ICO is through Signature Campaign. And I hope you can make a campaign or bounty runs for long. Make it a minimum of 2 months so many people can be sure to know your ICO. Not just 2 weeks.

I only see ICO that got popular are the one who use Signature Campaign for long terms.

Its been a big help if you hired people to publish it in this forum. Having publish it in social media, it will spread your ICO quickly but of course you need to pay them for their services rendered to you unless it is voluntary services.

The Easy and free way to promote your ICO is to announce it on the Altcoin section announcement. Somehow people will tend to drop by on your post and try to look at it. Also, If you have enough money to pay in starting a campaign it is advisable to do so. Go and look for a better campaign manager that will help you promote your ICO but expect that it would costly and risky on your part. Also, Invest in social media. Social media is the best tool to use to advertise a product, services, and etc. It will take a lot of time, effort and patience in starting up an ICO. For better outcome, look for a partner who already have an experience in the industry and also look for an advisor it woul be a great help for you to understand the process and they could guide all through out.

Do not jump to that level immediately, mate. Try to iron out and finalize your ideas and organize them smoothly so that you will come up with a detailed and orderly arrangements of your thoughts. And then you cannot act alone. You will have to form a team that is composed of brilliant and determined individuals. You also have to consult some advisers and hire them even to be part of your team as consultants. Create a whitepaper, website, roadmap, present your objectives, etc.

Consider getting more involved in the bitcointalk community before releasing the ICO. No one will believe you have been in the crypto space for a few years if you post with a newbie account. Also, consider having the ICO after the upcoming BTC hardfork.

If you're in the US I hope you're receiving competent legal counsel for the ICO.  Very important in this regulatory environment

There's so many ways to promote or to let people about your ICO but you need a budget before doing that.
1. Make an ANN Thread in the Announcements (Altcoins) if you don't have time you can hire workers here but check their trust rate before hiring them.
2. If you make an ANN Thread make a bounty campaigns to promote more your ICO better to make social media bounties because many people using social medias now to attract them make a good description about your ICO.
3. Use Search engine ads to promote your ico.
4. Build a community it really helps you to promote your ico if investors see positive about your project.

Before you start, try to build a community.
You can also pay for ads during the ICO (Adwords, Facebook,...)

Announcing an Airdrop here is pretty much on the move, most of all for sh** coins in fact but some are serious.
Try to make people involved to get rewarded by AirDrop, not just a single action that will let you be forgotten next day.

You need to create a community for your ICO. You can run ads on tools like: Google, facebook, twitter ... You can also create bounty programs on bitcointalk to PR your campaign. But above all your ICO project must be good to get the consent of the investor.

You can just start a bounty campaign here in bitcointalk or any other crypto related site. You can contact a manager for paid help and there are a lot of good managers in the bounties section or even a group of managers that can assure to you a smoothly running ICO.

Try the signature campaign here in Bitcointalk.  Almost all people who are INTO cryptocurr and of course ICO are here.  The best place to sell something is the place where everyone else is knowledgeable/aware on what you are selling.  Then, there's social media. Cheesy

This is the main reason of why ico's are being regulated right now, because of this kind of newbies that are abusing the system by creating ico's for ridiculous purposes, maybe he built a PetShop, and he want to run an ico to raise funds in order to buy showers for their customer's pets.
Good luck mate, but if you dont know how to do it, or you dont have the funds, you are not going to raise a single eth from that ico, and you are going to lose a lot of money, because it requires a good amount of money to start.
