Look what i found:
"Bter says that it managed to trace the stolen 7,170 BTC to a Bitcoin mixer (a cryptocurrency laundering service) called Bitcoin Fog"
I don't know if it is legal or not but this is the website http://www.bitcoinfog.com/
How is that possible if the bitcoins were really in cold storage? Somebody would have to have access to that private key somehow. They recovered NXT in the past. They got stolent 2 millons dollars in NXT

it's an excuse, they steal your coin on purpose if they are short with fee(not gaining much because too much competition) then they come up with the fact that an hacker have stole coins on their cold storage which is a no-sense

it's obvious that those hackers are internal people that operate with the excnhage

the whole mixing service is some sort of money laundering which is illegal in all the countries as far as i know. so all of them are in some sort of a grey area when comes to being legal or not.
but even if they have traced it to that mixer i doubt if they even can do anything about it.

Bitcoin mixers themselves are in a legal gray area. Bitcoin Fog is a popular Bitcoin mixer on the darknet. It is rather shady though and I wouldn't trust them with large amounts of BTC. In fact, I don't trust any mixer with large amounts of Bitcoin.

Suppose I create an online wallet with https://blockchain.info/ in Tor browser and keep a small stash of BTC in there. It's an anonymous stash, right?

Wow, this JoinMarket is super cool, I loved it! I really advise guys to try it, super cool.

The ShareCoin (https://sharedcoin.com/) also appears to be nice. Not sure what is better and why, I'm reading about yet, if you have experience please advise Smiley

BTW, if we have too many members at USA concerned about gov why not access the forum via VPN in other countries or proxies? I don't care because I'm not USA, but it could give freedom to them and anonymity to say what they want / think.

Thanks.

Yeah, I also like JoinMarket. I think it's a great idea and good implementation. I only wish the incentive rewards were higher, but I guess it's low risk so returns are low (for makers).

Hi,

Super b! In general, what is your profit per month as a maker? Like 1%?

Do you mind in answer some questions about it?

1) I saw a chart with name of wallets of investors and values. Where is it available?

2) Is there a way to see how many coins are happening per day or hour and average value?

3) The script generates a "HD wallet". However on the commands there is no output. What is the output? How many address it generate? For both send and receive or they should be exclusive?

4) Really idiot question, but I see the transactions are with internal wallet, what is the benefit? I mean, internal transactions are not public, right?

5) If we could recover the whole wallet and money with the key, it means that my coins are not with me, instead they are on a third-party server, right? What means if someone hack this system? I mean, what security do we have?

6) In practice, have someone tried to track the coins joined? How hard was it? Was possible?

Thanks.

Hi all

I'm thinking about it for a long time and I can't find a proper answer. I really don't like people and gov tracking me and BTC is everyday more traceable and less anonymous, so to avoid giving my ID I trade direct with persons, however the transactions are still traceable.

What we could do to make it really anonymous / no traceable?

1) Recently I was reading about http://zerocoin.org/ but it never happens and I'm not so sure if it would give full anonymity. Anyway, it's not available yet (and maybe never will?).

2) I was thinking about laundry services (such as https://bitlaunder.com/bitcoin-laundry-faq). However I have a few questions about it:

a) Is it really secure? Or is it scam? Someone here use? With success?

b) Some guys from California University points that laundry could still be traceable (http://www.wired.com/2013/08/bitocoin_anonymity/). What is your opinion related to the service above?

c) I believe that not just bad people use such kind of service and I'm one of them, so I'm concerned in get my money "marked" as black money or related with bad things. Is it possible to happen?

3) Exchange between virtual currency such as Litcoin / Bitcoin would help?

Thanks.

Just user a bitcoin mixer, extremly difficult (if not impossible) to trace.
There is a very interesting aspect of being "anonymous", you can only be anonymous if a lot of other are also anonymous. Think about it, if you are the only one wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, then will everybody know that you are the guy wearing a Guy Fawkes mask. BUT, if everybody weare a Guy Fawkes mask then does nobody know who is who. Same with the bitcoin mixers, when a lot of people uses a bitcoin mixer, then is it impossible to analyze the connection between input and output to the mixer. Since your coins will be mixed with others coins.

I would just cycle the coins through a couple of gambling sites (someone should make list of good ones for this purpose) and then use shapeshift.io and maybe shared coin in blockchain.info (be aware that they log your IP)

Till now, the best option that I have seen and even got scammed because of it, Localbitcoins...
At Localbitcoins, whenever you send your coins, they get mixed with other coins and whenever you ask for your coins in different address, you will get them through different address-es...
in that case you can easily use an exchanger. there are many of them that don't even need your identity. you can easily deposit in one address and on the withdrawal, they will pay you from another address.
the good thing is there is no mixing fee, and only the normal 10k-20k satoshi fee.

OP, just in case you want anonymity, because you are planning to commit online crimes, I have an advise for you:

Calling someone a criminal without evidence?

I call you a shitty troll

Take a glance over his post history  Roll Eyes
He is an obvious shill for morality Bitcoin (and an obvious purchased/hacked account). The purpose of this thread was to advertise for the scam site bitlaunder, just look at the title of this thread, no other mixing service uses similar terminology.

I'm not American, so I'm not concerned at IRS Smiley

Which is fine.  But anyone living in the USA giving correct advice to launder BTC is subject to USA laws.

So I live in NJ, USA and if I advise you how to launder your BTC the USA can truly harm me.

I only posted here because  a lot of us on site are USA based.  The USA has made so many  laws about money and moving it from place to place that this type of thread is not a  good place for a USA based person to give  advice.

There is already a network https://www.reddit.com/r/joinmarket/ for coinjoin thats been live for some time. Coinjoin-ing is now almost trivial.

You can also CoinJoin transactions to anonymize your Bitcoin. It utilizes a function of transactions where there are multiple inputs and multiple outputs. The idea is that if all of the outputs are the same amount, then no one can know who owns what output address. The only problem is getting all of the users to sign them and it can a bit of a hassle. I'm sure if you poke around in the service section you will find people offering to do CoinJoins.

It is possible to maintain complete anonymity if you're very careful, but the problem is we are human. At some point, someone is bound to make a mistake sooner or later
