This thread has so much fail in it.

BTC won't be $10k, probably $1 by then.

If you believe that you should sell all your Bitcoin and delete your forum profile because posting here will be a waste of time.

He doesn't sound like a very happy bitcoin user. Tongue

I apply a similar logic as OP to my purchasing of lottery tickets. If there is a huge jackpot, many people buy 2 tickets. I only buy one, because; when I win with the first ticket, the second ticket is a waste of 2 dollars, so if I purchase 2, I am actually throwing two bucks down the drain. Winning!

Do you believe Bitcoin will rise while the dollar falls?

If so, the price of bitcoin reaching $10,000 by the end of 2016 is not that huge of a leap (1000+% gains on average for the past 4 years means over $10k/BTC by 2015).

If you bet just .5 BTC (about $60 at current rates) on this:
http://betsofbitco.in/item?id=1532

it is like an investment in your future. When the bet is won, you will likely at least double your money since so many people believe it will not reach $10,000.

So if you win you will get back at least $10k worth of bitcoins. If you lose, you are out 60 bucks.

And the earlier you bet, the larger the cut of the winnings you receive. So betting now will give you more than those that wait.

Easy money.

If you believe this it's much safer to just buy Bitcoin. In that case, if it reaches $9999 you don't lose but win. Also if the price >$20000/BTC buying the Bitcoin is superior. Finally bestsofbitcoin can easily fail.

I think the best way to make $10,000 with $60 would be Devcoin

As nice as the bet and opportunity are the odds of a "draw" will keep me from touching this.

You're assuming a 100% likelihood that betsofbitco.in will still be there in 2015.

+1

Bitcoin: Trust yourself.

Maybe Bitcoin isn't a land where all profits are secure, all wishes come true and dreams aren't regularly crushed into monstrous nightmares at the worst possible time under the mocking heel of terrible fate.

It's bizarre isn't it.  A piece of beta software with super happy fund time profit.  What are these people smoking?

Whenever I explain Bitcoin to noobs, I never mention the "price" until asked.

The price is a byproduct of its awesomeness and meme.  Awesomeness and memes can be superceded/die.

This is not my prediction of it being $5000, this is just my proof of this bet being stupid:

The OP wants to get us into this bet:
When the site is still up and the price for BCs is $10.000-> you have $10.000 (aka doubled your bet)
When the site is down and the price for BCs is $10.000-> you have $0 (total loss)
When Bcs are worth less -> you have $0 (total loss)

If you just leave your 0.5 in your pocket:
When BCs are worth $10000 -> you have $5000
When BCs are worth $61-$9999 -> you still made a fine win
When BCs are worth less -> at least you have still something

The bet would double your stakes for a chance of way less than 50% and a long waiting time (years).
You are better off playing Sathoshi Dice with that sum than taking the bet. Even playing in a casino would be.

This. It's a bad bet.

It seems like every week a new poorly conceived bet pops up in the speculation forum. Roll Eyes
