Simply put, the OP is just telling us how to post a hosted image and redirect it to a video. But I think the OP's efforts are also worth it when someone wants to post an image that directing to a related video. So I think it wouldn't hurt if we gave him some merit for his effort, right?

After reviewing the purpose of this thread, the answer is very identical to shahzadafzal post on the thread "How to embed youtube video in post?"

Embedding videos in this forum is not possible but using the image code includes the link directions, but you can create short videos in gifs, as if there is a new feature for embedding videos. LOL

I agree with the replies above. I know this was not your intention from creating this thread, OP. But the topic title is misleading.
Embedding a video means that you can play and watch the video on the post itself without being redirected to another website. This forum does not support this feature, probably for security reasons.
And to be honest, I don't think we need such feature in a discussion forum. If you want to refer to a video, just post its link.
hugeblack's suggestion is probably the best if you want to add animated content. If the video is really short, just convert it to gif format and upload it as an image.

This is not embedding the video as you did not even try to adjust the size and dimensions of the image.
The closest thing to embedding a video that can be done in the forum is to put animations of what you want to explain, or a video of your screen, then it can be included with a link to the video if the person wants to watch it in full.

When you do it that way it will only result in being a hyperlink. It can be an image, a text, or a link itself which after you click is it will redirect your browser to the hidden link in a certain image, text or a link. An example is the image you use where if I click it then it will redirect my browser to YouTube then I can watch the video. It can also be made like this where the shown link is google but it is the link of this thread https://www.google.com/. Try to click it, you will see that it will redirect to this thread instead of google dot com.

Well, you can use BBcode to embed a youtube video but as informed by other members Bitcointalk does not support embedded video(I am not sure why?). What you have shown in your post is basically linking a video that will take you to the platform where this video has been displayed. It is similar to linking a website url. This doesn't happen when you embed a video. If it was embedded then it will start instantly within the post.
Rather going through such complex linking you can link the video using text or you can display the video URL within the post by code.

In fact, it's just a link, and it's very convenient, but it's a bit cumbersome.

I’m not sure if embeded videos were ever a feature here on the forum, although at some point during 2016, there seemingly was one here on Bitcointalk. The post does not allow to view the video any more, and was edited a week after its creation (presumably to delete the video), but another user’s comment made me believe that the case did indeed take place:

<…>
how did you embed the video? it doesn't work when i try and do it.

You can't. Wink
The above seemingly points to there being and embedded video on the forum, although you do need certain privileges to do it …

Embedding video refers to on site playable video. If you have to go to another platform to watch the video, that's not embed. Bitcointalk doesn’t allow embed video as said above.

Bitcointalk don't allow to embed video, so your topic title is a bit clickbait. In this way you won't embed your video.
I thought OP was looking for how he cab embed video abd that's why I have visited the thread LOL.

Yes you are right. I am a newbie and was little confused with this title. However now I understand that embedding is not possible here. May be it's to keep the forum running smoother? Would have loved to see the embed option though because once I get to youtube I get easily distracted  Grin

Hello Leo! You can still win.
To embed a video means to fix the video code in a site in such a way that the video can be viewed directly in the site. What you did was to enclose a video link in an image, such that if one clicks the image it will redirect the person to the video source.
Besides, BTT admin has avoided activities that will make third party links work directly in the forum.
Anyways, thanks for the guide.

Actually, it's not embedding video. Bitcointalk don't allow to embed video, so your topic title is a bit clickbait. In this way you won't embed your video. It's just adding image with clickable link to your video
Actually, sometimes I miss option to embed videos and and social media posts on Bitcointalk. On the other hand, maybe it's not bad thing because it's likely that some users would overuse it and it would make reading experience worse.
