There are many ways to promote cryptocurrencies , like through ICO where in their coin will be invested and sell to people , by means also in social media like facebook , twitter , reddit , telegram , slacks where more people are active. I think this is nothing complicated, a good team that understands what needs to be done at the moment and marketing. And then the demand itself will be if they see a breakthrough and improvement.Promoting is quite helpful but still you can feel if the project has worth the attention if the community and the team interaction coincides. What I mean here is, the promotion will not be successful if the community gain no interest in learning the stuff out of that project. How about we make some talk show in our city, and we can invite some expert in the crypto which we know, and that person can explain what cryptocurrency, the benefits of the cryptocurrency for our life, the easiest of using cryptocurrency and else is. Maybe this could work well as we see that many people in our city don't know about crypto and they need to be enlightened and then after the talk show is finish, we could make a schedule to gather them to talk about cryptocurrency. We cannot focus on social media only, but we need to reach people from our real life so they can know, learn and use crypto as we did. Promoting by social media or be the biggest way to make a promotion but why the Crypto investors will not make a promotion each social media platform if it happens then the new investors will definitely come to invest in here and the value also been stable by the demand.

Bounty campaign i think already filled all things to promote cryptocurrency or some projects. A lot of aspect already filled like Reddit, blog, youtube, social media, even in this forum already included in bounty campaign. 
I think that you could promote the project by publishing information about it on various crypto sites. Social networks are also good in this case, but there are so many advertisements of various projects and this is a more useless way to promote the project.
