Buying a Ledger is a good idea but if you want to saved some money i really think that using metamask as an alternative is quietly good. because as of now I never heard someone has hacked metamask. After I get something on my bounty Job I will gonna buy a Ledger right away but for now metamask is ok.

The main rule is to keep your passwords on a separate USB and open your wallets with a SEPARATE browser and preferably on a separate laptop, which isn't connected with Internet, it should be LINUX or Mac os x cause Windows easily gets malware.

Cold storage and backups are certainly the best way to protect your wallet. Come to mind wallets such as Nano Ledger
Divide your tokens between hot and cold wallets. Leave on the first only what is necessary for trading, payments and other transactions. Cold should be on a laptop, an old phone or another device that never connects to the Internet, ie, which is physically isolated

And always make it a habit to change your password regularly to make sure hackers cannot come over to your account, but be sure to memorized your password when you change it. And always have a back up of your files.

The solution to this problem is simple, observe simple precautions. Or just buy a laptop, create an address for the wallet, transfer there all the coins that you want to store for a long time and disconnect it from the Internet.

I'm not too strict security, but there has never been a hacked case that happened to me. I only keep my computer clean without spyware, and my private key is hidden by me. Just so is safe enough

You need to use a cold wallet for example, a Ledger. If there is no Ledger, then at least have a meta mask.

I try not to open third-party links and I think that because of this my wallet has never been hacked.

The best way you can protect your wallet from third-party and hackers is never to give away your private keys nor backup keys. because with this anyone can have access to your wallet.

I don't have a special method, I only use wallet hardware. and as long as I use it until now I have never experienced anything that has harmed me. and for me this is the safest.

The most important thing is not to store your wallet on the computer, use a flash card. Also, check your computer for malware. And no one does not trust your wallet.
Agreed. The best way to store money is offline, when no one except you has access to it. So save to flash drives, hard drives, and more.

I think everyone knows that cold wallets provides the highest level of security of your funds - it is very safe to store your wallet offline. If you don't have enough money to buy such device, I can recommend Metamask extension for browser.

This is for those who use wallets with cheap transaction fee, such as ethereum based wallets.
There are some who cannot yet afford to purchase a hardware wallet. On that note, i have a suggestion on how your wallet can be safe from hackers. I have always noticed wallets that get easily hacked are those that are subject to public view.
Try as much as possible to have a separate cold wallet address that you do not copy and paste the private key, and neither do you share the address with anyone. You can use it to store most of your valuable coins.
Even if you want to transfer any coin or token to an address belonging to another person, first transfer it to your public wallet before sending it out.
I used the offline wallets without any risk and the harmless. These wallets give me a reliable and the most it's secure my coins/tokens for the long term. It is easy to use.

MEW & TREZOR

The MEW is vulnerable to hackers, as it is easy to steal information from users and log into your wallet, many fake websites pretend to steal information, have a hacker case. was more than $ 6 million from tens of thousands of MEW wallets

You are right but I don't think that you are totally right at your point because you meant to say that this people who can't afford hardware wallet , can't make safe Thier wallet Sad
In actual this is your big mistake , here I will say one main thing that is precautions , if we will take attention at all types of the precaution before to choose wallet then we will remain fully safe from all the sides .
Here in my whole life with cryptocurrency , I found that in the most of the cases when any wallet of anyone get hacked then it was due to the reason of lack of security in the PC and use of third party wallets .
So here everyone can afford pc or at least a simple android mobile and they can use simply many types of open source official wallets easily with full security and there will be not much chances to loss , and also second attention should at the bitcoin/another coin address that , we are sending to accurately to that wallet which we want ( I am saying this because sometimes hackers spread clipboard copy viurd in pc and everytime when we copy the address , then same address of the hacker will remain in clipboard , this is a very rare case of viurs ) .

you need to carefully store passwords from your purses, even if there is a hardware purse. and of course, store eggs in different baskets

Thank you for the valuable information! It will never be superfluous again to check the security of our wallets and carry out software prophylaxis! Wink
