the most secure are the hardware wallets such as ledger and tresor but also mew in combination with metamask offers a fair degree of security, for mobile the best wallet is trust wallet

It looks like the OP has chosen which wallet he want to use to store his Ethereum. If so, I suggest the OP to lock this thread if the problem is resolved. MEW and Trezor are good choice for storing Ethereum safely. I myself have used MEW for the first time and also ImToken, both of which are very safe and easy to use.

Hi, what is the best way to store Ethereum safe and what wallet should be used? What is more secure to store all Eth in one single wallet or use more wallets? Thanks.
It's really easy to actually store Ethereum into a wallet, you just have to use a single wallet with a two-option model, first the hardware option and the second one is the software option because basically the way to keep the wallet is all the same, that is, never give someone else's private key or leave a wallet To other people, when it comes to dealing with valuable assets like Ethereum, no one can be trusted, except for yourself.

So far, MEW, trust wallet, are the two most safe for me. Because, this has been proven and tested to me for a couple years past.
Even other faced some issues about MEW, I am not affected by their bad experienced, because for me as long as you are doing the right
thing especially keeping your private key safely, there is nothing to fear or worry about it.

It goes without saying that the best method to store any cryptocurrency is to use hardware wallet like ledger. I bought a ledger few years ago and I assured you it's very easy to use.

You can try to use mycrypto desktop wallet and this is the best wallet to store ethereum and ethereum asset. You can also try to create your own paper wallet from mycrypto easily and this wallet can be used in offline mode as well.
I think that it's better if you can divide your ethereum into the some wallet but if you are not feeling good with the fees and you can store your ethereum in one wallet.
The only main concern is about how you can secure your sensitive data related to your wallet.

I use Trust Wallet to store my Ethereum, in which I control or having the full custody of my mnemonic phrases. But later on, I may transfer some of them to my Ledger Nano S hardware wallet. It’s not recommended to store your Ethereum to a centralized exchange or wallets that you don’t own the keys.

you want it to be safe? if you store your eth in exchange it's not safe, you need to store it in a hardware wallet, make sure you don't lose it, or use myetherwallet, keep the key, and never share it with anyone, never login to other peoples computer or in an internet cafe where you don't know if there is a keylogger or something, open your wallet to you own pc to make sure it's always safe.
To be safe, hardware wallet is not the only wallet to use. You can protect your cryptocurrencies if you are good at security for your passwords (wallet files, computer log-in sessions, etc.) and care about the websites you visit, then any link you receive (click on it or ignore it).

With MyEtherWallet, people can choose a password or not choose it.

Extra word
Quote
If you choose to include an extra word, understand you will ALWAYS need this extra word with your mnemonic phrase. You can not change it. It becomes a permanent part of your phrase.

Read Recovery Phrase: Should I Include an Extra Word?

If you choose extra word, at least 9 characters, you will have a different wallet.
You can test it by create a wallet on Myetherwallet, choose extra words and try to log in your wallet with and without extra word.
You will get two different wallets with different addresses (after you log in).

If you send your ETH or ERC-20 token to extra word wallet, and don't save the extra word, you will lose those crypto. The wallet without extra word will be a different one and the ETH or ERC-20 token you send to extra-word wallet will not be existed in non extra word wallet.

Back up seed phrase and extra words.

It depends on how much eth you got. If I have decent amount of eth then I will metamask or mew but you can import your mew account ti metamask then write your private key on a piece of paper then cover the piece of paper using plastic cover. Use a storage device that doesn't have internet connection. You can also use hardware wallrt which is also safe.  Don't ever give your private key to anyone except yourself and don't ever send your wallet file.

[BIG LIST] Ethereum Wallets (121 wallet). Please check that big list for more than one hundred of wallets.

You can consider some wallets in that list (get links in the list).

- MyEtherWallet.com for ERC-20 tokens: non custodial
- Metamask: If you want to have convenience to connect your wallet and swap tokens.

The MEW wallet is the best option for storing Ethereum securely. So far MEW is one of the crypto community's favorite Ethereum wallet. The reason that MEW is so secure is that important data such as private key and password are not stored on the MEW server, so you can store your private keys on your computer or in another place safely, in other words (you have complete control over your private key).

I totally agree as recommended by Coolcryptovator, hardware wallet are safe places to store Ethereum, because hardware wallet are not always connected to the internet. This is what makes hardware wallet a very safe place to store your crypto asset.

Thank you all for the answers. I think I will choose between the Mist desktop wallet or the MEW with trezor.

A long time ago I use Mis. I am not sure whether there were any positive changes but I won't recommend it for sure. If I remember correctly you need to download all network data to your PC.
Also, I see many suggestions to use MEW as the default wallet. This is also not particularly safe. very amenable for a keylogger, there were many phishing websites who's look identically as mew and it's very easy to give someone important data, private keys, passwords etc...
it happens even to experienced users.

If you have a Trezor hardware wallet, I think it's fine for you to use his official Trezor suite application.

First time to hear about Mist wallet, I wouldn't use a wallet that I don't know but how did you know this wallet?

The Mist Wallet is the official Ethereum wallet
I don't see it on the main Ethereum's website.

--> https://ethereum.org/en/wallets/find-wallet/

But I saw a link that it has on github.

I found something for you, it's just that you have to choose it according to the features you want. There are so many wallet recommended for you, but if you have a significant amount of Ethereum then you should choose a hardware wallet because I think it's the safest of all.

Good choice for Trezor, a known hardware wallet. I was about to suggest the other one but you've got already a choice which is also one of the best hardware wallet.

+1 for MEW. Most ancient, original, and easy-to-use one. People behind actively work and release updates.

This depends on how much eth you own, some holders of cryptocurrency tends to use more than one wallet, one from which they can send out transactions regularly; a hot wallet and one which is used for cold storage. For very high amounts, you can use different wallets for cold storage, you can however use the same software or hardware.
I won't suggest people to create more than two wallet for any amount of assets they have because when their number of wallets increase then their risk of exposing it also increase. So as you said one for regularly using for that a multicrypto wallet is better and a hardware wallet for storing the assets which intended to hold for long term like for years.
