I understand where you're coming from. It's understandable to want to maintain a low profile, especially when it comes to finances. It's important to prioritize your privacy and security above anything else.

I’m very surprised reading the comments of people here. If bitcoin is legal in your country, it’s okay to be open about it. Bitcoin isn’t some dark secret that one has to hide in his closet. The people around me know I am a bitcoin enthusiast, what they don’t know is how many bitcoins I own. My wallet address isn’t public and I use multiple addresses for transactions. I live a comfortable life, I do not flaunt my wealth or the things I have achieved by investing in bitcoin. My life isn’t in any kind of danger, there are others who also accept bitcoin payment in their business they haven’t been robbed either. Being known as a bitcoiner doesn’t invade your bitcoin privacy if that makes sense.

If there is anything I should keep a secret or low key it should be my financial life. I don't let people know about my bitcoin life. Nobody even my family members don't know am a bitcoiner.
Not all family members are good people. We cannot know what they will do if they know you own bitcoins at home. It is one of reason but another reason is you will avoid pressure to buy or invest on behalf of your family members. Many of them will not be ready to learn and just want to send money to you and ask you to buy and hold bitcoin for them.

What will you do if in buying process, you make a mistake (address typo) and lose money or you fall into a trade with a scam trade partner? What will you do if you lose your wallet in holding process by a hack, laptop steal ...?

Will they be ready to accept such personal mistakes or accidents of you and let their money go easily?

If there is anything I should keep a secret or low key it should be my financial life. I don't let people know about my bitcoin life. Nobody even my family members don't know am a bitcoiner. Letting anyone know am into bitcoin is never a big or they will discourage me, I prefer it's private. I almost made such mistake when I started bitcoin trading initially, I let one of my friends know about it, he discouraged me to the point that I almost quit bitcoin investment. I am glad I did not because it could have been the worst mistake I would have ever made.
looks like you are in an environment that is not good for what you enjoy. if you already know how the people around you respond negatively to what you do. forget them, you did well. but what about your family? I'm not sure they will reject and respond negatively like your friend. start by being open with your family. it doesn't matter which assets you have in Bitcoin. but regarding light things about Bitcoin and crypto news in the media. you have to start with your family first. and your friends, who cares.

The truth is, I discussed only with people I have personal and the same interests with and as a matter of privacy I talk less and I will rather you text me a conversation rather than engage in a discussion with others.

what is the need of letting others know how much Bitcoin we own, Bitcoin gives us the freedom to remain anonymous and not unlike fiat currency that involved third-party, if it's paper money your accountant or the bank manager may know how much money in your account, but Bitcoin have no third party so you can remain anonymous.

more or less my life as a bitcoiner is almost similar to what you experienced.
I also really care about my financial privacy, especially about bitcoin and other cryptos.
because things like that don't need to be talked about.

only a few friends know that I invest in bitcoin, people who know that I really have to tell because one of my friends is very curious about what I've been doing so far.

It depends a lot on personal character.Because not everyone's mood is the same. But what you said about bitcoin live style is very disturbing to me.Because I bought small dollar amounts of bitcoins which meant I had to sit in front of the computer all the time as I traded.
I took the trade hoping to make a profit that I had to put myself through such a frustrating situation. But those who have more patience can do this task easily.

Anyway the little I understand is that living a life style is about the character of an individual  it depends the type of person, even here in the forum we see people that boost of there investment on bitcoin an even mok low rank members in the forum, to me I don't even have what it takes to invest big for now because of other side expenses I am into so the little I have invested in bitcoin dose not add anything in my life for now,I can see in the forum there are so many high rank members in the forum that have made a lot of money by having a job through campaign,so I don't think investing in bitcoin makes it a life style to me,but believe to invest more to and hold it for a long team so that I can make more profits.

On a normal day, I am the type of person that keeps a personal lifestyle that too has a big connection with Bitcoin life because it is not physical and it can't be seen in you that you are a Bitcoiner or a crypto trader, Therefore, only people that very close to me know about me and know exactly what I do for sustenance because yo be frank, Bitcointalk forum is a place I relied on as far as my sustenance is concerned that is why I keep it on a low to avoid any issues.

Keeping a low life with bitcoin is the kind of lifestyle to live and it is possible to do because bitcoin itself has provided that kind of system with anonymous and decentralized operations it has. It guarantees your freedom of secrecy and so no need that we begin to brag ourselves about it because of the danger of possible attack. People usually weighs your financial status with the price of a bitcoin without knowing if what you have is just little fraction of Satoshi, maybe 0.0009btc.

By keeping as much of a low profile as I can. People knowing you're wealthy is mostly a disadvantage than an advantage. Sure, people respect you a lot more when they know you're well-off, but the disadvantages heavily outweighs the advantages. This is regardless if you're holding cryptocurrencies or not.
True. Some just do not care at all anyway.
In Facebook, I almost never post what's happening into my current life and in fact I have never even mentioned that I was using cryptocurrency to do some transactions though I do tread around Facebook groups related to crypto sometimes just for funs and not really for something that I would interact with other people anyway since that platform is hella scam pit.

I myself have never displayed my cryptocurrency activity in public or on personal social media. For me, only my closest family and friends need to know. Because in my country there are still no concrete regulations for crypto activities. But so many other people love to show off their results from NFT, Crypto, stocks etc on social media, The Government tax department is immediately happy to see them showing off. Indirectly it makes it easier for the tax department to record their income.

A very interesting question.
Personally, bitcoin is not my lifestyle but an investment in my future, and that's how I look at it.
I always separate work and money from my private life and conversations with friends, because these are personal and confidential matters.
I have personally seen in my life that when you try to discuss financial matters and investments with your friends, or even give them financial advice, it usually ends badly.
Investments can help your lifestyle, but they are not exactly a lifestyle  Grin

I was watching a TV programme in one of our local TV channels, it was an interview section/discussion with a certain popular musician as a guest in the studio, soon afterward as the discussion was going on the presenter asked him a particular question to which I found very interesting and absorbing. The question goes like this: "How do you maintain your private life in the view of public eyes".
So I decided to ponder on this myself and also to  bring same to the forum for forum users to share their thoughts on this, as a bitcoiner, a bitcoin trader or investor how do you maintain your bitcoin life in the view of public eyes?
As for me; I keep mine on a low cause personally am someone that love to keep a very small circle  and so I do my things my way not to attract public eyes. I don't post about being a bitcoiner on social media like facebook, Instagram, and rarely talk about it in any gathering except in demanding situation's.  I like it when people have no clue about what I do rather assume things about me than being certain especially not about my financial life which is supposed to be strictly private for me.

According to Socrates, "The unexamined life is not worth living", so can you take a minute to examine your bitcoin lifestyle in in terms of public view and share with us if you're the private life kind of person or you prefer the public lifestyle of letting almost everyone know you're into bitcoin.

Mind you, this is only intended for a discussion purpose.

I think most of the bitcoiners would prefer staying as private as possible. Some might even go to an extent to not comment on this thread too  Grin
Bitcoiners like to stay anonymous which is why they don't socialize much. Talking about myself, I keep my bitcoin life as private as possible.
If someone asks me then I do provide him the knowledge required to get started with bitcoin but otherwise I don't talk about bitcoin to others.
We are actually better off keeping it private because we don't want any unwanted attention.

I don't think there's much of a lifestyle when you are in Bitcoin.

On the other hand, it might be boring though, I mean you constantly need to be in front of the computer if you are trader. If you have other day job, then it's going to be exhausting if after work you have to check your investments. So it's not a lifestyle for me, and as what others says, don't flaunt it, keep a low profile. If you are in bitcoin or crypto in general, then you might take your privacy very seriously.

Sometimes it makes me feel bored, having to sit in front of the computer all day is really boring and tasteless. But it makes a profit, gives me a job to care for my family, and I think it's worth it.
Apart from my relatives, my neighbors don't know I'm investing in bitcoin, all they know is that I work on a computer. I never want them to know about what I do simply because I don't like being compared or being the subject of discussion. You are right, those who invest in bitcoin are for profit, but they are also people who are very concerned about privacy.

I know about bitcoins just as many other people in our society. If I know about bitcoin, it does not mean that my life is suddenly at risk because of this knowledge.

I think he referred to holding Bitcoins, displaying sudden wealth or not. Or how people go about it.

I know about bitcoins just as many other people in our society. If I know about bitcoin, it does not mean that my life is suddenly at risk because of this knowledge. Bitcoin is not a top secret program and knowing about bitcoin does not mean that I have plenty bitcoins in my keep or that I am super rich. Someone can know so much about bitcoins and still be living close to the poverty line. Unless one begins to live in a manner that is loud and to show off, only then can one's life be in danger.

In the view of the public eyes I always like to appear like I do not know so much, even though I have an idea of whatever is being discussed.

Although there is a very big difference between the life of a celebrity like a musician and a bitcoiner who holds no social status. It is quite a difficult task for celebrities to live a private life. I some times feel for them because even in the mall or eatery or shopping stores you will see people will always want to record a celebrity with or without their consent.
Why so many people like such a lifestyle of always been in the news, some also detest it. I do not like such a life and I do not also present myself to be into Bitcoin unless my Bitcoin friends who know.
This is because in my country you can easily be called a scammer when you make or receive payments with bitcoin.
