I used to use bitcoin-qt, however, it's too slowing in sync with the network. So I switched to multibits.
and now I found that blockchain.info provide very nice wallet service which can be accessed anywhere
i am happy with it and hope it's secure enough

I've gone the route of live ubuntu cd, bitaddress to generate addresses, encrypt with gpg and store encrypted backups online in multiple places.

My safe deposit box is only a block away from my home. I went out of my way to live near a bank that I trust just for this reason. I aim to simplify my life, including my banking. I still like to walk and talk to a teller. I like to know the people who have access to my account info.

What i was thinking was to copy the encrypted wallet onto a couple USBs and also burn the encrypted wallet onto a CDs (incase an EMP destroy's the USB's. Then the only problem is if my house burns down and i lose them all so i really need to bury a USB/CD somewhere as a redundancy.

Maybe hide a USB & CD with my encrypted wallet on it in seperate presents that i give to different people i know, sounds like a good idea to me. Needs to be something they won't throw out, ever (fucked if i know what this is though).

I found that printing BTC and storing is a good way to secure virtual currency. https://rbitco.in/print shows how to print this currency and store it safe.
