My issue is why it constantly occurs and had there been no way of solving it. It's obviously a Ddos attack and it's quite disturbing. Imagine being unable to access the forum for about three hours! Is this the longest or are we going to see more
You probably weren't here just before the forum started using Cloudflare DDoS protection. The outages were far more frequent, and sometimes the forum would load so slow for hours. What happened today was one of a kind in a long time.

However, I have noticed that the frequency of the DDoS attacks seems to be on the increase once again. But this happens to other sites too from time to time and not just Bitcointalk

Everyone who checked the site at that time would definitely face the same issue and it was more than 3 hours of downtime. It's a domain error and I'm glad it's back on now.

This same thing happened in June and was later notified on the X platform, but the same was not the case this time.

Was this a record and if it wasn't, whats the longest that forum has been down? If you have that info.
I don't know, my scraper was blocked by Cloudflare for days (while the forum worked) in the past, so I can't really know this data.

The forum was down for 3 hours, and almost 24 minutes between post 62982720 and post 62982721.

Maybe it just felt that way, but for me it seemed like the longest one in the last 4 years since I joined the forum.

This is my first time of noticing the forum outage that took this long to restore. At a point I was worried as I am already getting addicted to the forum. Glad we are back online.

No wonder you were scared, I have experienced it before and when I came online and saw the error I just went ahead to do other things irl. But this one seems to have take a longer time to be resolved.

Let's all blame AlexandrTDS Tongue

I read some news about strong waves of DDos attacks in recent days. Perhaps the forum was caught in the middle of these attacks.
Unlikely: Cloudflare worked just fine. Unless there was a DDOS on the forum's real IP address, but I'd assume it's hidden.

I can't be the only one who saw this new outage today that was ~3 hours long. I checked DownForEveryoneOrJustMe and other websites which confirmed the case, when I tried to go to the site and Cloudflare gave me the 504 error.

But may I ask what was the cause of the outage in the first place?
In one Telegram group someone posted it was a DDoS attack but I know only admin and the tech savvy guys can explain what happened and why it took this long. I am just a Bitcoiner  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Anyway, these are situations that can happen. The important thing is to be back.

Absolutlely.

But it would be great if they won't let us in the dark during this day. I also checked Twitter (aehh I mean X) and couldnt find much about it.
I mean, we are back in busines for a few minutes so we should calm down but I would appreciate if the staff would share some updates/infos about this downtime.

I myself have never experienced such a long downtime here. Huh

I also experienced this outage for some hours as well seeing the error message displayed I thought we no longer have forum again. Although not too familiar with this errors and I tried to asking around people I know they said is just a common system updates or upgrade this time it will work more effectively.

I think this problem is with me not being able to access the forum. I also think something will happen once the forum returns to normal. But I didn't notice anything different at this time or I didn't realize that there was anything new after almost 3 hours after my first post today, the forum displayed the gateway time-out error code 504.
I don't know... But I want to know why this gateway time-out occurs.

Finally we are back in business and the thread in Meta has started. Was the first place I checked to be sure that I was not the only one, though I had already got same replies from other members on telegram.

But this is not the only one in the recent month. Hope admins can get the problem solved soon.

Theymos just forgot to pay the bills this month. Better make sure to remind him to set some reminders.
LMAO!

Thanks moderator for getting back, Yes more than three hours site was down. I make one post today 4  hours ago and after that I want to make a prediction but site was down. unfortunately I missed today contest prediction.

This is thirds or fourth time I experience with the site down error. This error force me to think " How hard life without Bitcointalk". This forum is now became a part of my life and I spend most of time here.

someone on the Bitcoin party discord mentioned that he heard there was a vulnerability on HTTPS which allows easier DDoS attacks, not sure if it is related or not and the person who posted that info on discord seems not sure about it too.

would be nice to hear something from the admit regarding the recent error 504

I checked the Twitter account @bitcointalk and didn't find anything but https://ninjastic.space/ recorded zero posts in the last 2 hours, a few posts 3 hours ago which means the error lasted for 3 hours and 20 minutes, let's hope there is an update or Less on Twitter next time.
It keep the same session and I am not asked to log in again.
