Those arrogant fuckers! Here's an explanation of the actual law, basically it's like a VAT on how much bandwidth you use, so on top of paying ISPs who are taxed the consumers are also directly making payments to the government.

http://rt.com/news/198032-hungary-internet-tax-protest/

Now this was an extremely unpleasant thing to wake up to in the morning, I'm sure anonymous will have something to say about this.

Its funny how we depend on a group of rebels, but those rebels have done so much for us, it would be ungrateful to question their rise. Apart from that, the internet taxation bullshit is fucking crazy. I understand its like VAT, but don't we already pay for that to our internet providers?!

Nearly 20000 people on the capital streets.

It does not exempt sales made on the Internet from taxation, as these may be taxed at the same state and local sales tax rate as non-Internet sales, just like mail order sales. The Act did not repeal any state sales or use tax.

Anyone care to explain how the tax will be calculated? Do we have any numbers? That's worrisome because if successful other countries might follow...

It will never happen.

I have difficulties to believe that the Sith lord Tongue advocates for internet tax in this day an age... he couldn't be the Sith lord with such a mindset... Grin

I doubt that anyone is really a "friend" with Mr. Soros. After all, he is invester who invest money and expecting them back with profit. So when he is a "friend" or "support" someone, then people should be very carefull about that person.

I would think that the world could be a better place w/o Mr. Soros.

You make it sound like it was so bad, where does this mindset comes from? If you can't deliver on what you promised on a business scale, what can tell me you can achieve anything on a personal level, and as such why even follow a slippery path on a limited time frame?  So harsh with him, why so? Do you have something against Speculation? What's your problem with him in particular? And what does he has to do with this internet tax?

edit: or is it the Sorros way to troll?

The friendship with George Soros is because he is Hungarian born, but yeh just another one of the slave masters

That friendship is a bit more complicated thing. Back in 1989 the Soros Foundation provided a scholarship to him and to some other members of the Fidesz (these blokes forming his inner circle now).

Have faith.
Yep, I know very well how it is. I'm from the neighbor country, at east. This region's governments don't seem to know to do anything else than increase taxes and steal them. And yes, Cyprus, Malta, .. and don't forget Switzerland, are indeed the countries they support.
Current Hungarian government has another "best of": they are now good friends with Putin.

Yep, revolts are the only way to go!

You summarized pretty well what they are doing Smiley.
To be honest I'm more concerned about their friendship with George Soros than about their friendship with Putin Smiley.

Converting foreign taxes into your own infrastructures... an innovative concept? Normally the plan works until you meet the pension accounts of serious dudes in the USoA... then nail guns are out, and of course the amateurish looters discovers what the soup can do, even to the biggest, "cleanest hand" pen holders...

but chant after me, E.U., E.U., E.U... rofl.

Well done! Really.
Maybe it's a small tax, but it means that the government is stupid enough and cannot "function" with the available money, needing more.
Maybe they should think more on using better the available money than adding more taxes, any taxes. And this is the way to make them think!
So again, well done!

They using it very well Smiley. They are boosting the economy by building many new villas (as some of those are real architectural masterpiece they are doing a lot for arts). These guys are also supporting car dealers and many other parts of the economy.
To make it even nicer they are not greedy. They making efforts to boost other country's economy like Cyprus, Malta, Swiss, Belize, Luxembourg, Cayman Islands  Wink.

sat, 2 ways...

The main reason is restricting access to information.

Europe, what a beautiful Union, where values like respecting the opinions of others, or simply letting them speak alone is so important...  Roll Eyes. But like said in another topic, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree... No Google, Facebook or anything innovative... but why? why? why? I can't get it Wink.

Maybe they should think more on using better the available money than adding more taxes, any taxes.

I think that you don't understand how money is used in Europe, remember they don't even have expenditure on an army... so where does it goes? Who benefits shall you ask... let me dress it: 40+, University educated, aka the paper said they are smart (so they are, what you ask if it's true, you are sick), having income from the gov, wanting more income for leisure and/or special expenses (what each room doesn't have a full suite?), and worst very jealous, ohhh some one working their ass hard has more than them, UNLAWFULL, UNFAIR! tax them.

Edit:
That tax isn't that small for an engineering or a hosting company. Even home users can pay a tax comparable to their monthly Internet bill if they are watching HD stuff on Youtube.

Getting money is just the icing on the cake. The main reason is restricting access to information. The main voting base of Fidesz is the over 45 population. They are not or just occasionally using internet. However some of the emerging opposition parties and movements are largely dependent on internet and social media. In addition the news sites and blogs what sympathizing with these new movements and strongly critical to the current political establishment (and the only platform for some whistleblowers) are almost exclusively keep themselves up from advertisement incomes and from donations on the site.
However be careful with this "revolt" as it's been organized by the pro-eu/us leftist and liberals whom losing ground in the past few years and now fiercely fighting for voters and funding.
