here are Muslims in India and he is stating that the sex ratio is worse among the Muslims in India than among the Hindus. India has both Muslims and Hindus. Pakistan, however, has almost no non-Muslims. That is because in countries where the predominant religion is Islam, for some reason, people of other religions seem to leave over time...

damn some people are really deluded.. is divorce generally prohibited in their culture/religion?

So...
The husband has to say "I divorce you" three times.  It has to be done over a certain period of time (months) and they have to try some couseling to save the mariage.

Wow, what an unholy PITA, no wonder he just killed the first wife.

Totally wrong

The tree time divorce (not saying "I divorce you" this part was only true when marriage was not registered and marriage was done with witness, the same was for divorce and the "I divorce you" has to be said in front a certain amount of witness we are talking 7 century or so laws here) has nothing to do with divorce.
In Islam when you divorce it's done, but like in modern civil law, there is a period of time before the divorce is effective to leave a room for reconciliation (30days I think) once this period is over they are free to do what they want. As for the tree time divorce rule is about reconciliation, once you divorce and reconciliation 2 times the third time you divorce there is no reconciliation possible and the divorce is definitive and you can't remarry the person you've divorced, unless they married someone else.

This guy is a psychopath and need to be punished accordingly, sometimes in some culture divorcing is a kind of taboo and I think that's might be one reason why he resorted to such thing, but I'm just theory crafting here I don't know about Pakistani culture, but a part of it doesn't seem that good to say the least, I hope someone correct me if they have the correct knowledge about this point (since in Islam as explained above, Divorce can happen without major issues)

More importantly: "If husband asks for divorce and intercourse has occurred, he pays full dowry." Well, he invented a more cost effective way to divorce.

Their laws are seriously twisted. A wife killer can be out of prison on bail if their son forgave him? That's a life imprisonment in developed countries Roll Eyes

There is also something like blood money. A murderer can bribe the family of the victim, and can walk away scotfree in a matter of few days (probably free to kill again and again).
This system was good for a historical period, which is related to Muhammad's life. But for now some of these laws are obsolete and even senseless. That's the reason why countries like Islamic Republic of Iran are never trying to implement them without modification.

Let the Pakistanis do whatever they want. I don't even want to think about them. Let's just make sure that the Pakistani migrants living in the Western nations don't bring their stone age customs to the host nations. There are quite a lot of them in the EU. In the England alone, they number more than 1 million. Many more in Norway, Netherlands.etc.

The husband of Farzana Parveen, the Pakistani woman stoned to death for refusing to participate in an arranged marriage, told CNN he killed his first wife so he could marry Parveen.

Authorities said the first wife was killed six years ago.

“I wanted to send a proposal to Farzana, so I killed my wife,” Mohammad Iqbal said Thursday in an interview with CNN.

Zulfiqar Hameed, district inspector general for the Punjab police, said Iqbal’s son from the first marriage alerted police to the slaying six years ago.

Iqbal was arrested but later released on bail because his son forgave him, Hameed said.

The son, Aurengzeb, who is in his 20s, confirmed his father’s statements to CNN. He said his father served a year in jail.

Parveen, who was three months pregnant, was beaten to death with bricks Tuesday in the eastern city of Lahore by a group of about 20 people, including her brothers, father and cousin, police said.

Police have arrested Parveen’s father and are searching for the other killers in this all-too-common crime.
