Availability of the HYBRID tokens

The most frequent questions we receive these days are about where our crowdfund participants can see their tokens, or when they will receive and be able to use them.

In line with our milestones roadmap published on our website, the Internet of Coins beta wallet will be released in Q1 (end of March 2018). After release, the HYBRID tokens will be distributed on this wallet.

Then why are some XHY tokens already traded on exchanges? Right after the crowdfund in 2017 there was a limited window of time (until August 1st 2017) in which highly experienced crypto experts could send in a request to claim their tokens if they wanted to maintain them in 7 manually created wallets. Because of these experts, you can see some tokens are already being traded, for instance on EtherDelta.

The final release of the tokens for all our supporters (not just the crypto experts) will take place after Q1, in a safe way, when our IoC beta wallet has been released. By that time all participants will be contacted via the e-mail address that was used to participate in the crowdfund. Make sure you still have control of this email address! From that moment on all participants will be able to receive their tokens.

Mining HYBRID tokens

Another question we often get is whether it is possible to mine Internet of Coins tokens. The short answer is no. We don't have that option since we did not choose for a 'mining' release model. You can however participate actively in the network and serve as an allocation node, which will earn you fees for swapping cryptocurrencies for others. See our roadmap for an indication of when these features will become available.

Awards time!

The year has just started, and the Internet of Coins project has been nominated for a 2018 Internet Innovation Award by the Dutch chapter of the Internet Society. KISS, KISS, KISS

We added some documentation and a startup script on our github to make it easier for tech savvy enthusiasts to get up and running with the hybridd node system. It automatically pulls in all direct runtime dependencies like nodejs and regenerates the views before starting. For other dependencies, we added some simple instructions that should allow our supporters to get started with less hassle. Keep in mind the software is still in alpha state, so do not store large amounts of value on it at the moment, until the stack matures.

Fundamental cryptography: 'all our bits are belong to us'

This week, members of our team have been busy further strengthening the cryptographical routines used to secure communications between hybridd node and its clients. We reviewed the latest insights to come out of the 34th Chaos Communications Congress in Leipzig, Germany recently and are in the process of reviewing the current scientific literature and best practices, to make sure 'all our bits are belong to us' (see http://ccc.wf/allyourbase) and that this will remain so in the foreseeable future. In other words, we are working hard to make sure your information remains safely encrypted and cannot be read by any eavesdroppers or third parties, since we are firmly commited to the privacy of our user base.

Put another star on it

The wallet now supports the option to favorite assets by giving them a 'star' in the Assets overview. Their current state will then show up on the main dashboard immediately after login. This will save you an extra click and makes the dashboard more user friendly

Насколько я помню, там было две опции, ждать кошелька, когда его до ума доведут, или тех, кто понимает, могли их получить во всех сетях. Если вы покупали токены, то можно написать им письмо или сходить к ним в чат и узнать свои опции, что можно на данный момент сделать.

Всем привет, было интересное обновление от проекта, все у кого есть Гибриды будет интересно, токен залистили на EtherDelta - символ  XHY, объемы низкие, но все же
Сейчас тестят сеть Эфира и довольно успешно, теперь добавляют Эфир Классик. Работают над добавлением других криптовалют. В общем работают ребята.

Hybrid listed on EtherDelta

Together with the early holders we did a token upgrade over the past two weeks. To adhere to the latest ERC20 standards set out by the Ethereum foundation, we upgraded the token and arranged for it to be listed on EtherDelta. You can now find the token on the decentralized exchange there under the symbol name XHY in the dropdown list. Currently the volume is still low, and we expect this will remain for a while, until we reach the point where we can create a unified market between the hybrid chains.

Ethereum Classic

After testing the Ethereum module with success, we now have also added support for Ethereum Classic. We are adding more cryptocurrencies, and will be working on the implementation of token handling. With the support of tokens, we will take another important step towards supporting hybrid assets in the wallet.

Less is more

We have developed a forage cache mechanism in the browser that makes the Internet of Coins wallet more bandwidth efficient after the first login. Libraries used for transactions now no longer need to be pulled in on every login. Instead they are cached to make logging into the wallet much faster.

Usability

Luca is putting effort into making the user interface more user friendly. She is first focusing on making the CSS style sheets clean and tidy. After that she will be strictly separating any user interface code from functional code to make sure these cannot cause confusion for other developers.

Legal efforts

The past weeks we have made progress in formalising our organisational structure. A draft of the statutes for the custodian foundation under the Commons Conservancy, that will safeguard the open source technologies developed by the Internet of Coins project, is now undergoing scrutiny by legal experts. We have also found three people willing to chair the Internet of Coins foundation, who will hold the Internet of Coins team accountable as to how assets are allocated to further project goals according to our crowdfund terms.

We are hiring

Last week we had several meet and greets with talented programmers to help us out in implementing key aspects of the hybridd infrastructure. All of them have experience in nodejs and high availability javascript coding. Various specialists on the crossroads of mathematics and information theory were among them. Each of them will receive a special challenge to give them the chance to prove their mettle and show off what they will bring to the team.

On our chat channels there was some confusion over a message that did not come from us, and instructed people to make a wallet. Be sure only to respond to instructions that come from Internet of Coins directly. As per our terms (https://coinstorm.net/terms) we will release a public wallet to receive the tokens in the first quarter of 2018. See 'The release of the tokens' below for details. If you have any suspicions about emails claiming to be from Internet of Coins, or using the IoC name, please forward the contents to [email protected] so we can take appropriate measures. Internet of Coins is an independent initiative and has NOT instructed any other organisation to speak on our behalf.

Alpha wallet updated

Our ALPHA wallet (only for testing purposes) was updated and now integrates many improvements. We invite people to try it out and give us feedback per email about their experience. Please keep in mind this is experimental code, so please do not store large amounts of value until the testing phase has been completed. The alpha wallet can now be reached at https://wallet.coinstorm.net We'd love to hear some feedback on your experience with the wallet.

Tell me more, tell me more...

We now have a working implementation of deterministic Ethereum functions, so the ETH blockchain can be connected to our ecosystem. We have integrated the REST API into the command line wallet for testing purposes. Processes in the code have been segregated, or split up into separate streams, for more security. Account credentials are checked at login using a validation algorithm to prevent typing mistakes. Also our connectors to other RPC (remote procedure call) interfaces have been improved.

'How we roll'

We noticed some questions about the token release cycle in our email inbox. Some supporters asked how and when they would receive their tokens. For most people, the tokens will be released in the first quarter of 2018, when our integrated and user-friendly wallet has been developed. The last requests for early holders are now being handled.

The release of the tokens

There have been questions regarding where the HYBRID tokens are 'visible' and how donators can know where their tokens are stored. We build on earlier achievements, and hence the infrastructure to carry our tokens will be developed using the (crypto)currency that our supporters donate. At the present moment, this means your registration information is your ticket for our Fundraiser. Make sure to keep a copy of the TXID of your donation, screenshots of transactions and confirmation, your PIN and/or the confirmation email. The deadline for those without any confirmation of their donation to contact us was September 1st.

Once the network infrastructure is functional, each donator will be able to create their own account on the newly developed system. This account will receive the amount of HYBRID tokens reserved according to the USD value of the donation at the time of participating, as per our terms. In the course of development, the network will be connected to different coins and token systems, also those included in the fundraiser.

Preparations for exchange underway

This week we made progress in arranging for options to trade hybrid tokens via exchanges. We are in talks with a third party exchange which is adapting their exchange to the technologically new hybrid token concept; where value is held on multiple blockchains simultaneously. We will keep you updated as these plans unfold. Next to a centralised exchange, the tokens can be traded on decentralised platforms in the course of august. We are enabling trade with the tokens so that our Internet of Coins donators can already exchange value on existing platforms, as well as to further the development of the integrated app, to be realised in the course of 2018 (see our roadmap for details).

'How we roll'

For the hardcore experts, who want to create seven addresses on seven different chains by hand and know how to manage their tokens securely, it is important to follow the instructions on our early holders page very precisely. If you make a mistake, your tokens will be sent to the wrong address and you will LOSE them! Once your tokens have been released, there is NO WAY for us to get them back and we cannot give you a refund. If you really want to receive the tokens now before everyone else, please send your request with the required addresses to us before August 1st, 2017.

Please send your request from the same email account as the one you used to sign up for our crowdfund. Do not forget to mention the correct TXID(s) of your donation. If we get all seven addresses correctly, along with the TXID (transaction hash) of your donation, the token release will be done at the end of the following week.

Our policy against scammers

We are are grateful for the generosity, trust and support of our crowdfunders. But sometimes we have noticed individuals attempting to commit fraud. When a fraudulous claim is detected by us, we will remove the scammer's records from our crowdfund database completely without notice, since we refuse to negotiate with thieves. Of course, it is possible for mistakes to be made and if you have sent in a lawful claim, but not heard anything from it within two weeks, please communicate fully and clearly, providing us with as many relevant details and screenshots as possible. Send your appeal to [email protected] along with all attachments and information regarding your donation and we will consider your case.
