Its impossible to tell exacdtly when it will stake, but what is your block size and current age? Right now a block of 1k should take anywhere from 10-20 days on a 24/7 wallet. Less wallet time online, means less chances. So keep it up as much as possible.

Smaller amounts that 500 or so HYP could take ages to stake at this diff level (although they seem to stake fine for me).

How do I tell block size and current age? I've been keeping my wallet open and staking for several days and even before the wallet upgrade, my previous version of the wallet was staking for 5-6 days straight.
My current weight is 7437 and I have 12 active connections. I also have 2200 hyp in the wallet.

This information can be found in coin control. You should enable it in your wallet (if not enabled by default):

Tools -> Options -> Display -> Display coin control features

Then go to SEND and click Coin control.

Ok that doesn't help. I see coin control, but then what? It's like telling someone how to drive a car by showing them how to open the door.
Maybe that's why IT people don't make good business leaders

You can send it to your address where you have staking blocks. A block, not address, stakes.
