I mortgaged my house to buy $300,000 of ETH at 800.   I dod not tell her.   This house was paid off in full.  Now I cant make the mortgage payments with my job.  I cant even sell the ETH easily because I live in NH.   Should i keep holding?   Tired of making excuses about wherr all the money is going.   I guess I'm what you call a loser.   Thanks everyone.
You're in a wrong move mate where you hide it with your wife..because what i stand for is that every decision that involves big risk both of you must know it and both parties will decide it.Cryptocurrency investments is a big risk and what you risk is your house inorder  to buy eth.I think you must need to tell her,no matter how she will react, its as good as the truth will set you free.Yes you can sell your eth though the price is falling but leave something to hodl and have patience to wait for the next bull run.
Just my opinion mate.

I think yes you are loser, your decision is so bad, But dont give up, you can through it

we know cryptocurresny is unpredicted, So dont sacrifice the the obvious thing to an unpredicted thing. You do this because in your mind only profits.. That's why we must think clear, tell friend, sharing information, not just think about profits. Just HOLD it because your money not gone, if Eth's price goes up your money will come back.

The truth is, your profits is not yet this time, you have to wait until the markets get recover, just keep hold and wait for the pump. And for about your wife, tell her the truth that you montage your house for ethereum, and you have to wait for the pump. I am not sure when it wilm but it will surly come.

however, you have already made the decision to mortgage the house to buy ETH. I want to invite you to solve the problem in a way, you must immediately work hard and sell half the ETH that you have with the aim of paying instalments for the next few months. and half of it you can hold and hope that ETH can rise in the future.

i do not intend to say you are a loser, i am also concerned about your current situation. indeed at this time it was very difficult to find a way out, there was no other way but to keep holding it.

indeed there are some conditions that make a person a loser, but in your current condition i think you are not a loser. You are only the head of the family, but i think you are too brave to mortgage your house for something very risky. just hope that next year the market will pump and your house will pay off.

Damn, what a history, i'm sorry about that, looks like you apply the 'Go big or go home' but in the way you fucked up hard. The only thing to do now is to hold and pray.

Your wife will get mad and really angry with that news, so, i would recommend to lie, tell her you but ETH but got scammed and lost all, i know, i know, lie is bad but think about how happy she will be when you tell her you to recover the ETH and the scammer is now on jail... After that comes the bad news about the market crash, but she will take it as not as terrible news.

I think this is the smart way to play it with the intention to conserve the relationship, you already lost the house, play it smart or you will lose your wife.

What a deep mess. 300000? It's pitiful and pathetic. It's going to be very painful but the deed is done and one has to face it squarely.  Once a cow is milked,  there is no squirting it back the udder. If your wife is the mature and understanding type,  look for a calm and apologetically way to tell her bit if not,  you better still continue coming up with stories because this is a kind of situation that breaks homes/marriage. My suggestion is this.  Look for a way to diversify your coins/investment. That is, use some coins to purchase some other promising coins out there that you think would surge in price and value over time.  Am also against you selling at a loss now but one thing is for sure,  you just have to wait till the value increases to achieve, at least, the minimum loss if you should sell. There is every tendency that there value of ethereum is going to increase a little bit next year irrespective of whether bitcoin decreases or increases.  But the geometric increase largely depends on the price valuation and direction of the bitcoin. Another good form of investing the ether is if you decide to do safe betting with a 10th or 20th of that amount. You have to set aside that amount for the betting and be going at it, one step at a time. Create a winning strategy. Maybe, sure odds with large stakes. Or get a good online crypto based casino,  maybe vegascasino. They exist as an online betting platform with limitless and unending bounds in casino betting. Features includes poker,  slot, blackjack, table games,  roulettes etc. Payment is in BTC, a cryptocurrency and this helps to simplify payments. They have multiple withdrawal option which includes cheap,  bank transfer etc. They offer juicy deposit bonuses and have a good customer support service system. The user interface is also excellent.    One can play almost as high as he/she wants but there is a certain restriction in place to ensure responsible gambling. With those bonuses and a good betting skills and strategy alongside discipline,  you can get something tangible from there too. Don't be grey and don't bet with desperation and only your instincts . It might not turn out well if you do. You should only do this if you are familiar with betting and casino and you like it or you are good at it

You mortgaged your $300,000 house, to get ETH. now lets observe a few things:

1) You are promoting a service in footer "denarium"
2) After June 12, 2017, you just came back to post here on December 06, 2018

just tell me, who advised you to invest in ETH mortgaging your $300,000 house? And why you jumped in a market that you have no idea about?

That you mortgaged the house was a big mistake. Therefore, everywhere they say that investing in crypto is a big risk and you can never invest more than you can lose. But you can leave your ether and wait for the market to recover.

What a very big mistakes using your own property for the sake of investments in cryptocurrency. You should never use a borrowed money to use as an investment, because the risk is very high specially if you don't know how the market works. It's like gambling, you bet, you may win but sometimes you may lose.

in my opinion you are not a loser but you have to be more patient in holding your coins like ETH especially the market situation that until today is not stable, my advice is to hold your coins until the market price is fully recovered so that you can sell your coins right away and you will not feel a loser because you have benefited.

Oh it is really very sad but you need to tell her everything, I think if she loves you then she will understand and will forgive you. I don't think that she will leave you only because of this

Today's market makes many people disappointed and pessimistic, including me and you. I buy small pieces of BTC when the price of BTC is $ 6000, if I sell it today, I only get a loss.

so, my choice is to hold it until bullish comes again, tell your wife, that we only need time for the bullish market.

you can follow my strategy.

With such a huge capital you should have invested it in trading rather than putting all your eggs in one basket. As I always tell my friends and family never to sell of their property or take loans to invest in crytpo because of the risk involve.

It's not that you are a loser. The fact is that you did a terribly stupid act. A loser, this is when you do everything right, but circumstances that do not depend on you are not in your favor. And I can't even imagine how it was possible to mortgage a house and invest money in a cryptocurrency. This is a very, very risky event. I sympathize with you, but luck has nothing to do with it. You have done a very stupid act, and I hope that cryptocurrency will soon start to grow, so that you stay with your home.

Your like the only BOT here telling the truth? Why is this??

IMHO this story probably not true, but people like these kinds of story's, whether they be true or not, and what's most interesting is NOBODY has came out and said "SELL, RUN"

You got 99% here, that don't even read, they're talking about BTC, and the OP is talking about ETH, which leads me to believe these are just bots triggering on a sad crypto story,

Most likely the exchanges are paying bots to post "HODL" story's, so no matter how bad your loss your still supposed to HODL, cuz they ( exchanges ) told you so,

YES, STUPID crypto's are a dice roll 50/50 even or odd, you bet all on a roll and you lose all, its called 'gamblers ruin', if this story is true, most likely the OP is  a compulsive gambler ( or village idiot ), especially the part about the house being free&clear, these kinds of people (gamblers) are always in debt to their nose, ... me smells much bs in this post.

Village Idiots don't live  in free&clear houses, and if they do, their custodians don't let them hold title so they can be swindled.

Lastly, who tells you ETH will go up? This is a shit-con, and the TECH of ETH sucks, its much worse than bitcoin in terms of inability to scale, and its internal programming language is a dog, ETH is what you expect of a high-school genius to write software and get rich, now that BUTERIN is an adult, maybe he can start from scratch and create ETH-2.0 that has a future? No matter what these professional LIARS tell you high-school kids don't have the experience, and math skills to develop a bomb proof crypto when they're just coming out of diapers, this is a multi-discplinary field, and what BUTERIN did is that he was first, and got a following, but his code ( REV 1.0 ) has no future.

I can sense the honesty in your sad story. All I can say is that you should hold your heart and be courageous to tell your wife the truth. You don't know how long the ETH price will remain low, also, how long do you intend to keep using your job to make the payments? Let your wife know the situation so that both of you can manage it together.
