I am hodling...

I am amazed that you can all sing the praises of the OP's position. Admittedly funny, but quite possibly the worst investment decision that has ever been made by any one, ever. He decided to hold at the peak of the bubble, and we are now down a good 80%!!!
His investment would now be worth five times more if he 'SODL'ed.
And you worship this like it was one of the ten commandments.
Nuts.

On that subject, I read once that a common regret that people have had on their deathbeds was that the regretted not taking more risks in life.  I have tried to take that to heart and it has led to some great experiences for sure.  Some may have been seen as "foolish" such as when my husband and I decided to start our own business only to flounder at it for a few years.  But even then we learned so much through that experience and my husband was able to stay home with us more when the kids were young (he was traveling way too much and gone for weeks during the year.)  We wouldn't say we regretted it though and now we can say that we at least tried.  I think those experiences open up our world view and we become even greater risk takers.

It seems in my experience the greatest entrepreneurs in the world have one thing in common, they all were not afraid of taking risk.  And with Bitcoin we the luxury of risking a very small amount.  We don't have to invest more than we can each determine we can afford to lose so really it is one of the greatest opportunities some of us have ever had to be involved in.   This kind of investment with the opportunity to see the kind of rewards that we have potential to see down the road is not often open to those of us with very little capital or cash funds to begin with.  VC's often get the opportunities to get in on the ground floor of some great companies, but by the time the "rest of us" get a chance to invest the true "bubble" or growth period has been achieved.

Right, the distribution of coins have begun, this is the most interesting part. You will see what you need to see. Indeed, the distribution was necessary for the Great Game to begin.

This kind of investment with the opportunity to see the kind of rewards that we have potential to see down the road is not often open to those of us with very little capital or cash funds to begin with.

Very true but I think the richest rewards won't be the financial ones.

That's true, in the end I would be happy if bitcoin succeded even if I would only learn about it in 2020 and never invested a penny before.
However, there's nothing wrong with wishing to get rich with it in tbe short term Smiley

Why are we in despair phase? YOY we are still up

So sad.. many people in this thread are going to learn a hard lesson. Buying more coinz now is nothing short of wild gambling.

Eh, bitcoin IS wild gambling.  It is like buying tickets of the lottery.  A very very high chance that you lost your money.  But a very small chance that you will become very rich.  What's wrong with buying a few lottery tickets ?

Of course, you must realize that it IS buying lottery tickets, that is, with a very high chance of them being worth nothing.  So you must just use a small amount of money that you will consider totally lost.

But if it has a 1% chance to go to $ 100 000,- (15 years from now), then there's nothing wrong with gambling $300,- on that, no ?
It still means that you have an overwhelming 99% chance that you've lost your money.

If $3 000,- are nothing important to you, what's wrong with gambling that for 10 coins ?  If ever it works out, you're a millionaire !  If it doesn't (which is most probable), you've only lost the $ 3 000,- that didn't mean much to you.

You should not go all in in Bitcoin in any case, there are a few other promising options in the crypto world (not much tho).
Bitcoin has the network effect which is really important, but intrinsically it can potentially be deprecated by up and coming projects.

Daddy, what does regret mean?
Well son, the funny thing about regret is,
It's better to regret something you have done,
Than to regret something you haven't done.

INDEED.  Funny that YOU say so !

When my father died recently, my biggest sadness was about so many things that I didn't do.  Not about one single thing that I did.

Sorry for your loss Dinofelis.   Sad

...So many people talk about the risk of investing in BTC.  What about the risk of not investing, even a little, in the chance that it becomes mainstream?

So sad.. many people in this thread are going to learn a hard lesson. Buying more coinz now is nothing short of wild gambling. Don't listen to the echo chamber and make your own decisions based on fundamentals.

ie. are new markets emerging for bitcoin? No? Then who do you expect to raise the price back to the previous ATH?

There is no more willy bot and China is out of the game. Meanwhile, supply is rising ~3,600 coins per day. Don't throw away your money.

I think a harder lesson than taking a risk and losing some cash is living with that decision when they had a chance to take a risk but chose not to out of fear or worry only to see it become wildly successful later.  Many people that heard about BTC several years ago make comments all the time about how they wish they had invested earlier.

So many people talk about the risk of investing in BTC.  What about the risk of not investing, even a little, in the chance that it becomes mainstream?

Exactly BitChick.

And as far as RIISING goes,  how are we to know or believe when to sell or buy?  On your word? Based on?Huh??

This is a speculation thread with a speculation investment.  What makes you such an expert?

So if you are such a fortune teller, why are you wasting your time with all us losers?  You are trying to save us?  -Oh, how nice...
