My blockchain can beat up your blockchain
I just went through a few of the threads you created from your list. I'd have to agree that they are very merit worthy. I've been plateaued at senior member for as long as the merit system has existed. I've been a member here for many years and I try to follow proper etiquette as best as I can. I've designed unique signatures for people for free on multiple occasions so they would better stand out from the crowd. I basically gave up trying to climb the ranks even though I was very proud of my progress before it came to a sudden stop. I never spammed to up my post numbers either. I have this one account. (I did run an account for a company I worked for but I didn't create it and it was only temporary. Back in 2016)

I applaud you for your perseverance, tranthidung, and for your contributions to this forum that I love and will always love as the birthplace of BTC. I am happy as a senior member. I am blazing crypto trails around the world on a daily basis and can't focus a great deal of time here trying to rank up. It's promising to know that someone rose to the challenge, though. Congratulations on the success from all your hard work.

About two months passed and I have already earned more than 200 merits over that period. It is a new achievement for me, and deserves a bump for today.
Last several days, I saw some topics in Meta & Beginner & Help boards asked for how to rank up. Maybe those people will see this topic and find something helpful as well as inspiring.

I've read a bunch of your posts and it's obvious you put some effort into them, which is what a ton of members who registered in 2017-18 and who are still Newbies-Jr. Members don't take heed of.

So to all the noobs who are wondering what the trick is to ranking up these days, look at OP's post history.

I quoted this post, and I think it makes sense.
I locked the topic around a week, then unlocked and bumped it. What's wrong?
If you don't like my thread, and other threads listed in the OP, just ignore it. If I don't do wrong thing, just skip this one, and move to others.

Crowded threads - which have posts by different users posted in-a-row, and look like active discussions - do not equal to a good, quality thread.

Moved it to Beginners & Help, locked for now, and I will bump it once a month.

Bumping trash thread does not help you earn a single merit.
An other trick to rank up seems to be by bumping your own threads in Meta and Beginners boards.
You should read forum rules before commenting posts lite this.
I usually do not bump my thread each day, around 3-days per one bump, or even longer. There is nothing wrong about that, especially if thread owners bump their useful threads.

If it doesn't really help then why would you bump that thread?

I mean, people already ignored the topic because it wasn't good enough and maybe you didn't provide the information they're looking for. So there's no sense if you'll bump a trash thread.
--

In my case, I always keep the discussion lively and give good statements that will encourage them to reply. So through that, the thread will automatically bump through the opinions or statements of other members than spamming bump on the thread.

I suppose this is just a small "accident de parcours" because I am quite sure a Hero Member has too much honor and dignity to lower himself to such practices.

This humble Senior Member would nonetheless suggest not to repeat it. It sets a questionable example for lower-ranked members like this one, or this one, who have been punished for bumping their Merited posts recently.
If repeatedly vioate rules, punishments to come, sure; but by now, just deleting bumping posts (more than once per 24 hours) as warning, I think.

So to all the noobs who are wondering what the trick is to ranking up these days, look at OP's post history.  If you're not willing to put in that much effort into your posts, don't expect to rank up past Jr. Member.  This is exactly what the merit system was supposed to do, by the way, i.e. force members who want to advance their rank to make constructive posts.  And for the handful of members who've actually managed to claw their way toward Hero member status, it's worked.

Just wait for me!

I'm on the way to hero member with pure merits! I mean those merits that I've earned was from my intellectual mind not by arse-licking. 21 merits left and I'll become a hero member too. By the way, I always see your posts and you always give updates to your existing threads, that's a responsible poster because some people are just leaving the thread after creating it.

I'm a full member that time when the merit system was implemented and make it this far, we'll reach the top soon.

When you started as a newbie you believed that you'll to this stage someday, and you put in your best from the onset without doubts. Big congrats to you cos it's never easy.
No, it is not what I imagined in January of 2018. During those days of 2018, I simply had a dream that I could rank up to Full Member rank, with huge decent efforts, and with a long period, likely 2 years. But now, I actually moved much farther than that, what I did not thought of around two years ago, honestly.

If you read my story, you will see that I spent ~ 13 months from Newbie to Full Member ranks. After that, I spent  about 6.5 more months to move from Full Member to Hero Member ranks. It means I received 4 times of merits within half of a period (from Newbie to Full Member ranks).

Everything is difficult and really challenging at beginnings, but if you dedicate your time to improve yourself (first), and help others, you will well moving forwards.

Congrats! you have made it. Don’t let your achievements stop you from what you are doing, thus make it inspiration and let yourself push more hard and strive for yours improvement because your next journey (Legendary) will be much more tough. Smiley
Appreciated your 2 merits to help me hit the rank faster a little bit. Whenever we are closely to new ranks, we all usually go crazy. Making constructive posts is a habit with me, by now, so I will not stop doing this.  Smiley

I strongly believe that I will hit it within the next two months. It means that I will spend around 6 months to move from Senior Member rank to Hero Member rank.

Thank you. You know what? When your posting habit changed, become better, then you will do your contributions naturally. You will not stop your contributions, and make your good posts.
It's certainly a great achievement and what's even more impressive is that it took you less time to get there than most users here. I hope to see more of your positive contributions to the forum. Congratulations in advance!

Thank you, too. Everything will start extremely difficult for forum new comers, I had it years ago, too; but if they have good attitude, and good practice (for reading, learning, and writing), they will do move forwards to their next ranks, higher over time.
OP, you'll get there.  I've read a bunch of your posts and it's obvious you put some effort into them, which is what a ton of members who registered in 2017-18 and who are still Newbies-Jr. Members don't take heed of.

Thank you, too. I do my thread, namely: Inspirational stories from self-made promoted users, due to reasons you mentioned.
I think its nice to have personal achievements and personal stories shared with the community and the Off topic sub forum is spammed on a daily basis which means it would just get lost.
Thank you, God bless you.
Great, you have made it faster than most other people. shared another 2, hope you get the rank within this week.
Thank you, too.
You might be right. I nearly hit it! Once again, merits are not scarce, right? They are floating around us, just waiting for chances to drop on our heads.
Let me guess, you'll rank up today or tomorrow, 10 Merits is only what you need, so there will be another person that will take the opportunity to grant you what you deserve.
Hey, fella! Let me tell you a secret story.
Months ago, I admired you so much because you earned much more significant merits than me, when I was a Member (self-made Member) and struggled to earn each merit, then when I hit the Full Member rank, my pace of merit earning boosted, then I hit the Senior Member rank several weeks or even more than one / two month(s) before you. You dropped back, but then you fastly moved up to Hero Member, faster than me.
Our unofficial race to next ranks (Senior Member, then Hero Member) is interesting, right?

Also let me be the one to congratulate you as the first one when you reach the Hero Rank. Welcome my friend, I hope to see you on the next Legendary League sooner or later as you are one of the quality poster here unlike me who wasn't a good topic starter. And to all, let this be an inspiration to you, as ypu can also reach what we have achieve in this time.

I agree, it doesn't have to do in meta anyway.
Seems pretty Meta to me, but that's for the mods to decide if anybody bothered to report OP's post.

I'm not sure whether personal stories or achievements should be posted in Meta its probably more suited to the Off Topic sub forum due to it being about a member of the forum and not the forum itself but thats being pretty picky if I tell you the truth. I think its nice to have personal achievements and personal stories shared with the community and the Off topic sub forum is spammed on a daily basis which means it would just get lost.

@OP looks like with the help of TMAN you can reduce that initial 2 month estimate by a lot! If you keep making the posts you are making I can see you ranking up within the next week!

OP, you'll get there.  I've read a bunch of your posts and it's obvious you put some effort into them, which is what a ton of members who registered in 2017-18 and who are still Newbies-Jr. Members don't take heed of.  Nobody is going to earn any merits by writing short, lazy posts that are usually in very broken English.  If your grasp of English isn't that great, you can overcome that with effort--I've seen it done.  Plus there's the local boards to earn merits on.

Definitely, I think introducing the activity ranking system was an attempt to prevent account farming. If I remember correctly, signature campaigns started to pick up during this time, as well as the value, and publicity of Bitcoin. Therefore, the forum was subject to more posts, and more account registrations. I'll have a look at the data of this later on when I've got a bit more time, so this is all off my memory at the moment.
Is this one the first signature campaign in the forum?

Anyone who have the interest of the forum at heart will agree to this especially if that individual have been around for at least two of those three eras (stages) you listed above. This system (merit) brought about more informative, educational and captivating topic. The merit system have achieve its initial purpose (that's bringing about quality discussion). We just have to build on it from here henceforth.

OP, congratulations on your soon to rank up. Thought you'll get there before @cabalism13 though you're almost there. It has been a journey, can remember our days of Full member like yesterday, another user I'm routing for is @r1s2g3. Took you guys long enough though congratulations.

Therefore, the forum was subject to more posts, and more account registrations. I'll have a look at the data of this later on when I've got a bit more time, so this is all off my memory at the moment.

So the activity system was introduced to prevent users ranking up by spamming, and then potentially trying to scam. Back then we didn't have a trust system, and high ranks were considered more trustworthy, because it seems our society values higher, and longer term members than newer ones, which I think we as a forum have been proven wrong on this assumption multiple times.

The merit system was then finally introduced to put a significant end to low quality users, account farming, and spammers. I think we'll always have a problem with spammers, and low quality users, but at least these days they don't get rewarded for it. Again, we'll always have account farming, but for different reasons. The majority of account farmers are now those that register hundreds of accounts to bump, and advertise their services.
