I've been thinking a lot about the moments we missed and the ones ahead.

So I made WhatifBitcoin.org - it's a quick way to see how past Bitcoin investments might look today.

Would love to hear your thoughts   Cool

Is there something I can add to make it more informative for newcomers?  Huh
I must say that the site is very stunning, so professionally made, and houses a lot of bitcoin related contents that are very informative, educative and useful to the core.

The only part I really don't like that much is the way back machine, tell us what would have been today if we invested a certain amount of money on bitcoin way back as far as 2010 till date.
I go through that and I am full of regret, i hate to go back to what is already past and gone, because regret is always majorly the outcome of doing such, and it could lead to further failures if the person will end up dwelling In that past, forgetting there is a future to work for.

Aside the above, the site is incredible to be honest, I love it and kudos for a great work there.

as something of a designer myself, i quite like the design. simple, to the point, and easy on the eyes, though not so much on the heart. lol
i'm not one to regret things, but using the calculator and seeing the numbers, my disappointment in myself is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

it's a small detail, but please update the BTC in the favicon. that green reminds me of that parasitic shitcoin BCH.

It looks like a useful tool, but maybe I would add additional currencies other than US dollar, maybe Euro and some others could be good to have, or just add something like currency calculator/converter.
I know DCA means Dollar-Cost Averaging so that part doesn't have to be changed.

You could also add other Bitcoin price predictions, for example Hal Finney said this:

I came up with an even more extravagant estimate of $10 million a couple years ago on the cryptography list:

http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg10152.html

I compared the stock of bitcoins to total worldwide wealth, rather than GWP, which is the amount produced in one year.

I DCA for real to make some charts. Once a day, once a week, once a month and once in a while. No lies.

It prints a graph.

I just added DCA. More features to come  Grin

Thank you for sharing ideas, guys.

You are awesome.

I think that you should move this thread on Project Development board, that will be more appropriate place for discussion.

Your project is amazing. I especially love the way you designed Bitcoin Supply Countdown. I think it will be good if you also include the portion of lost Bitcoins in red color in that supply. If you are a developer, this project is a good presentation of some of your skills, include this website in your portfolio.
Put donation address if you would like. I believe, some people might donate.

To be frank, your website makes me sad, especially when I set years to 2009, 2010, 2011.
The website looks great, but at the same time it can be a reminder to the missed opportunities we had along the way, and while this may not be too much of a big deal to some people, since they invested enough money in bitcoin to make a positive difference on their lives, there is also a large group of people that never did so or that lost their coins in some way, so those people need to be careful and let go of those feelings as it makes no sense to regret something that we cannot really change.

I like the website's design. It's simple, it looks alright, and it's nice to play around with the numbers like that. I can see that there are also other interesting sections, like price predictions by famous and influential people, and a nice Bitcoin supply visualization.
The only thing I'm hesitant about is the impact. I mean, I don't think people should focus on regret, on how much money they could've made but didn't make. It should be an inspiration to move forward, not something to bring a person down.

Hey, I love your site! I had sometimes used https://dcabtc.com/ to calculate on past investments but that site does not allow to calculate the investment with lump sums and I see that yours meets it perfectly. For me, these sites should help people to make realistic forecasts. Investing $1,000 at a time and investing $50 a month for a cycle is not going to make you a millionaire, for most mortals DCA is better but if you invest little it will take you longer to reach a significant sum.

2. You can click on a date and the calendar box will appear

3. You are right. Updated, will deploy soon  Grin

2. I didn't notice such option. I only tried clicking calendar icon (left side of slider bar).
3. I see you already updated it.

And while i'm at it, you might want to replace some website mentioned on Bitcoin Sources section with websites such as,
https://www.nobsbitcoin.com/
https://learnmeabitcoin.com/

Great little website! Simple, minimalistic and straight to the point. If I'm honest, it is a little depressing, because it brings back all the memories of the early days of Bitcoin, thinking what we could have done differently, especially us who were in the scene since quite early. The $5 I had spent on my Minecraft account between 2013 to 2015 has now costed me over $1.500, probably making it one of the most expensive accounts ever bought. It's hilarious how easy it was to acquire Bitcoin less than 10 years ago, and how much things have changed in less than a decade.

Nice! I would like to see an option to see how that compares to other investments though. In side to side with apple or nvidia stocks, bought at the same time and maybe visuals that represent the difference clearly (charts etc).

But i love the fact that you use examples like how many gaming rigs or restaurant visits you would get. That would be fun to see as in comparison in the start. Like how many cigarettes, expensive dinners you could buy with the initial investment during the time of initial investment, if you decided to buy something else.

Wow! This is incredible, I love the layout and how much detail you put into this OP. One thing that I’m not so sure of is if people will elect to share their Bitcoin story with the amount listed haha

Damn, great job! On what did you build it? React + frameworks with the hooks, probably?

The app is purely a self-hosted Next.js Cheesy Happy to share more if interested.

Did you do it from scratch or used some designs in regards of the overall look? Not talking about the icons there.
Anyways, great job!

Nice one, buddy; others have already applauded you for your work above and the little time resources that you have spent there.

Just a little thing I notice on the wallet section: BlueWallet is not just a mobile bitcoin wallet; they also have a desktop version of it, which I believe it will be nice to also note it there, just as you did for Nunchuk. Electrum also has a mobile version, which is only available for Android users.

Awesome design, amazing work.

I love the way the page is designed, the red on the dark background looks amazing. There are two things that I particularly liked the most. The first one is the chart displayed from the date selected to the current date. The second thing is the circles showing the percentage of the predicted prices of people.

There are a couple of things that I wanted to mention. In the section where "Buy First Bitcoin" and "Bitcoin Wallets" are mentioned, I noticed that you didn't mention the most popular centralized exchanges such as Binance. I first thought that maybe because it requires KYC, but then I thought that even Cash App requires you to pass KYC before you can purchase Bitcoins and Kraken as well. I also believe that Electrum wallet deserves to have a number higher than 5, also, Electrum is also available on mobile, so you should add "Desktop/Mobile" in front of it.

I also had one suggestion about the chart if you can add it. I noticed that currently, the timeline is set to weekly which means the interval between shown price points is a week. Can you add more options for that such as 1D, M, etc.?

I'm very impressed with its UI, but I'm curious to know the reason behind choosing a green favicon, as opposed to an orange one... Hopefully, it's not there to give the impression that it can only go up in value.
- BTW, With regard to the DCA part that you're currently working on, you might want to also add an end date.

Is there something I can add to make it more informative for newcomers?  Huh
The historical data on "archived pages" of the New Liberty Standard [first Bitcoin exchange] might come in handy [their data starts from "October of 2009 (roughly nine more months of data)"].
