Can anyone help please?

there's not much else we can do from here. you can try asking the mods on the coinbase subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/CoinBase

or you could try asking at https://ethereum.stackexchange.com/ as well. maybe there's something we're not thinking of.

the way i see it, there's a few possibilities:

1a. the merchant's seed is wrong
1b. you sent tokens to an address not in the merchant's wallet
2a. the reddit info is incorrect = the derivation path is wrong
2b. you are inputting the derivation path incorrectly
3. you haven't derived enough addresses or scanned for the address correctly

so this is all my merchant did

1) they use https://iancoleman.io/bip39/

 Already used path : m/44'/60'/0'/0/0
                              m/44'/60'/0'/0

they checked first 150000 addresses was show up (in both path)

2) now they did :

They send some small amount of USDC to that address (address which I Sent USDT)
now in master Coinbase wallet that small amount USDC is showing and it's can withdrawal from Coinbase (this means Coinbase can access that address private key with merchant mnemonic phrase)

Coinbase write some kind of smart contract that when anyone send USDC or ETH amount in that address automatically send to Coinbase account and after merchant can withdraw (only USDT can't because , they don't support USDT so )

question 1 : we sure that Coinbase have that private key of address and they can withdraw USDC but not USDT, (so private key must be in merchant mnemonic phrase) which path? because we try both path suggesting by Coinbase (m/44'/60'/0'/0/0, m/44'/60'/0'/0)

question 2 : what is possibility of address in each path of mnemonic phrase ? (because it's seems like millions of addresses there)

question 3 : if any another wallet or Ledger use same path for ETH address also USDT, will it possible that 12 words mnemonic phrase put in ledger can be recover funds?

question 4 : is this legit? it can be solve issue if we setup off-line ? https://github.com/Mrtenz/FindETH

question 5 : merchant mnemonic phrase is definitely correct, there is any another way we can open only that address with mnemonic phrase?

Please anyone help me will be so much appreciated and rewardable

it's should be m/44'/60'/0'/0/0 - we apply this and it's start like this m/44'/60'/0'/0/0/0 , m/44'/60'/0'/0/0/1 , m/44'/60'/0'/0/0/2 , m/44'/60'/0'/0/0/3...n

or it's should be m/44'/60'/0'/0 - we apply this and it's start like m/44'/60'/0'/0/0 , m/44'/60'/0'/0/1 , m/44'/60'/0'/0/2 , m/44'/60'/0'/0/3 , m/44'/60'/0'/0/4...n

which one please

the first one (bolded)---at least according to a moderator on coinbase's subreddit. we obviously can't verify from here whether it's truly the correct derivation path.

to the right of /1, /2, /3, etc should be the addresses/public keys/private keys you are looking for. if you increase the gap limit to 1000 or 10,000 and then search the page for the address you sent USDT to......still nothing?

no still not getting anything, I check 100k address now result,

there is anything I missed?

For ETH & ERC20 tokens, Coinbase Commerce has implemented a forwarding machinery, ensuring that all payments eventually end up at m/44'/60'/0'/0/0.
Oh, yeah this is the one.

there is any way to find address directly ?

because it's still search 50000 address found , still more and more .
Unfortunately, no, it's the only way I know. Is the derivation path on BIP32 Derivation Path is m/44'/60'/0'/0 ? base on their support mentioned in reddit.

need to select BIP32? or BIP44?
Try in BIP32 and choose custom derivation path and paste this m/44'/60'/0'/0/0.

And yeah this is a derivation path issue as mentioned above, I can't find an exact derivation path on reddit base on their supports response and seems they manage to make changes every time.

this is a derivation path issue. apparently, no 3rd party wallets support the new derivation path coinbase commerce uses. this guy wrote a script to deal with the issue but i don't believe it supports ethereum-based assets yet. https://github.com/scott-huson/coinbase-commerce-external-wallet-tool

it's so much technical to do?

so m/44'/60'/0'/0/1..n.   - this won't work?

There is any way that we can unlock only the address I sent the payment.
I bet you can, using https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ though I suggest to do it offline, by downloading the whole website, you can check the github repo there's an instruction how to do it.

  • Paste the mnemonic phrase on BIP39 Mnemonic
  • Choose ETH - Ethereum on Coin select tab.
  • On Derivation Path choose BIP44
  • Find the address on the Derived Addresses, assuming that the merchant has too many address already, on the lower part, there's a "show more" button you can put numbers anything you want, eg. 50 - 500 more rows.

Once you found the address (public key), copy the private key shown on the same row and import it on coinomi or I guess on trust wallet which have a feature for importing private keys afaik. Then recover your funds. Good luck.

Correct me if I missed something though.

First of all Thank you

ok they following your steps, and they put first 5000 in address row, then 10000, then 20000, then 200000,
still there is many many addresses , do you know how many expected addresses wiil be there? ( now it's 40000 address still showing more and more )

I will let you know once they find my address.

Thanks you for your suggestion. I sent the 10K USDT to the USDC Coinbase Commerce merchant account for the goods and merchant told me that they have mnemonic phase of wallet, There is any possibility to recover from there?

You certainly have a better shot than if you deposited it to a Coinbase account.

Coinbase Commerce is non-custodial. As the merchant suggested, he has access to the recovery phrase. He just can't see the payment through Coinbase Commerce.

The merchant needs to securely import the recovery phrase into a wallet that supports USDT. Then he should be able to see the payment and refund you.

Yes they did with my crypto wallet but when they choose restore with mnemonic phrase there is a thousand of addresses (can only unblock on address at one time) is connected with this mnemonic phrase and there is not such a option that we can search the address I send the payment.

There is any way that we can unlock only the address I sent the payment.

Yes. You should be able to recover the funds whether you sent the funds to your merchant wallet, or to their (non-custodial) wallet.

Try to install Trustwallet[1] and follow this step by step guide[2] by using your mnemonic phrase from Coinbase commerce.

Yes they checked with trust wallet, but there are many addresses are connected with the mnemonic phrase and it is not showing the USDT amount.

Can we do something like this, The amount I send on the address, can we unlock only that address with the mnemonic phrase? Because there are thousand of addresses are connected with this mnemonic phrase.

It's guaranteed that they will have the private keys of the wallet. The question is, if they will go out of their way to help you or not. Because it's not just as simple as grabbing the private keys and importing it to MEW and sending you the funds.

Since 10k is a good amount of money though, I'm guessing that they'll probably help you.

My merchant (Payment receiver) have mnemonic phase, Can he recover from his side?

Again like I said, yes they can, but the question is: will they? Because we're talking about Coinbase here, a behemoth of an exchange; not just some friend of yours. Some exchanges requires a minimum amount for them to actually bother recovering your money. It's just up to Coinbase if they'll help you, just respond to their questions.

So this is a merchant address huh. Idk how coinbase commerce account works but If the merchant told you that they have the mnemonic phrase which I assume the recovery seed of the address then I guess there's still a way to recovered those usdc, only if the merchant do the work, though expect its too technical.

Yes they are very co-operative with me. Can you please explain more how it will work so I tell my merchant to do it and it will be appreciate if you can help and I will give you reward for the help.
