I am not surprised seeing as restaurant liter its walls with bitcoin ads but do not accept bitcoin payment, i like the fact that the restaurant manager was sincere, from what i am seeing in the pic shared by the op, those ads are indeed paid for by the company that owns that brand, Op should have seen and known this, the ad banners are owned by a crypto currency business that bought the walls of that restaurant to advertise their business to the customers going in and out of that building.

I've come in contact with vehicle and tricycle owners who have bitcoin ad banners placed in every corner of their vehicle but still, know nothing about bitcoin or cryptocurrency.

It seems that there are many advertisements for Bitcoin, but few people know how to use it. I don't know what the purpose of the advertisement side is, but it is always positive. The purpose is to let everyone get used to the existence of Bitcoin as much as possible, get used to accepting Bitcoin, and finally use it together.

I am disappointed that OP didn't take his time to educate the restaurant manager, as they are advertising something about cryptocurrency and don't know about bitcoin. I would like to hear how the dinner and bitcoin class goes from OP on another topic or expect a brief reply here.
Happy holidays to OP, and good luck with bitcoin preaching.
Same here, OP didn’t say he say a “bitcoin accepted here” sign on the door, he only mentioned crypto ads on the walls. We are watching and expecting a continuation to this thread about how dinner ended. I hope it had a happy ending lol  it will be better if OP completes his story on this thread instead of creating a new one explaining the whole dinner/class.

Why would you invite a restaurant owner for Christmas dinner?

Maybe she is a  beautiful woman  Cheesy
I am also curious why he should invite her on a very special day, during dinner. This may be the reason. It will be a romantic dinner Cheesy

Aside from that, I am quite confused that a restaurant accepts ads of cryptocurrency but they don't know about cryptocurrency.

You do not need to be surprised, it is all business deal, besides it isn't the owner who is dumbfounded but the service staff.  Service staff has no say about the deals of the owner and is not a big deal if they don't know about the story behind the wall decor/ads as long as they do their assigned task and serve well.

Actually, his plan to teach the manager is good enough, at least that she knows something about cryptocurrency and will tell her boss about it... Because it is quite strange that using the decoration about crypto but don't even accept crypto.

I don't find it strange, they don't have a sign Bitcoin accepted here, did you see any?  If they do have sign and the establishment does not accept Bitcoin or worst doesn't know it, then that is what we can call strange.

I think why the franchise that set the banner there doesn't even explain the restaurant about cryptocurrency and teach them so that the ads will be implemented at first in the restaurant.

It is possible that they are into negotiation, who knows, since the ads company is a cryptocurrency wallet company (stated on the earlier reply) I believe they approached the establishment and offers their service.

Anyhow this Christmas is going to be a special one for the Hotel owner as she's gonna learn something new. In specific knowing and learning about bitcoin is really important for the fast moving world that is much connected to the technology. It is good that more advertisements were giving visibility to the existence of bitcoin even in the rural areas of the country.

Yes, if we look on the positive side, OP is spreading bitcoins to everyone, and this time a restaurant owner. And if after she's been taught about bitcoin and really loves it, it's inevitable that her restaurant will accept bitcoin. They don't accept bitcoin yet because they don't know about it yet not they ban and that should be easier to change.
I am very happy to see that this is also a way to promote Bitcoin which is one of the safest cryptocurrencies we have on the market. Advocating about Bitcoin should be our paramount so that those who did not have complete idea about Bitcoin can know what is all about and how the network works.
This is one of the thing I love seeing and we should keep telling people about Bitcoin so that more people will come and adopt the use of Bitcoin in businesses to boost the network. If we continue advocating about Bitcoin in different pattern, this rate at which people join the network will be massive.

It is a bit weird to decorate everything with Bitcoin vibes but not accept Bitcoin as payment and not train the staff to at least know what Bitcoin payments are.
Inviting a person for Christmas dinner is nice, I think the traditions of who you invite can differ a lot within different cultures, and I think it was a nice gesture on the part of the op. It didn't strike me as weird, and I'm not surprised by op's answer to it. To be honest, I don't get why many in the thread seem so worked-up about a simple act of hospitality.
I hope the op will return and let us know if there was a continuation of this story (did the owner come to the dinner, did you visit their place again to discuss Bitcoin, etc.).

I am more interested to know whether things are doing well with the business itself with regards to the market price of Bitcoin. Many businesses have made the same thing but also, many of those establishements eventually did not sustain the market behavior in this industry which forced to do so, I guess. It would seem like themoney circulating on a business would be instant turned into another investment. If we are on the bullish market ofcourse it would be full of advantages but since we're not, I guess that is where problems might occur in terms of general sustainability of the business. If owners would be pushed not to spend the payments (in crypto) because of low market price, then isn't it a bad idea to do so especually at the present. We would amire the initiative to do so but not all businesses are just ain't ready for this industry yet when it comes on a 100% adoption.
I think the price of BTC can greatly influence on how the demand/traffic of BTC on that business goes. In times like this where BTC value is dumping, I think some people don't care about their BTC, in a way that they spend it often but if its the opposite or when the value of BTC is pumping hard then I think many people will value it more and limit their purchase using their BTCs. Yet this won't affect the business as a whole, as long as that business still accepts other forms of payment methods.

If there is a business relating to crypto who are badly affected right now then that would be the crypto exchange because there will be less people who are making a transaction right now.

Many people only hear bitcoin but they don't know how bitcoin works to be able to get the goods we want, even though some countries already use bitcoin as legal tender but as a society it is still difficult to use and get the bitcoin, I think you have to teach the owner of the restaurant so that all the stickers they use are very useful and can get more profit  great at making payments at their restaurants.
The OP ought to have educate, enlighten the owner, waiter and waitress on how to transact with Bitcoin right there in their shop, personally I wouldn't buy the idea of inviting the owner to the owner home to so, meanwhile it won't take much time teaching and explaining how to transact to the shop manager, waiters and others who are very much interested learning it with aid of a mobile phone, I had personally and successful done this with few of colluegues in my of work, friends and some of students who now very conversant with how to use Bitcoin, I recently showed one of my student on how to transact using P2P via Binance, I believe there will be a gradual adoption of Bitcoin with this methods.

I'm not so surprised to see something like this, not 1 or 2 times, in fact there are already many restaurants and inns that use Bitcoin payments or use crypto currency themes in their rooms, it doesn't look like there is a problem, but they will be overshadowed by tax collection  which is quite large from their government of course, this is a problem for entrepreneurs who use Bitcoin, of course the government does not care about the current bitcoin price, they know that the price of bitcoin is much more expensive than using Fiat currency, even though everyone pays more using currency  Fiat money instead of Bitcoin, because not everyone owns Bitcoin and only a few percent of the world's population own it, the rest prefer to hold Fiat currency.

I'll start with the bad stuff first. Everyone here immediately clicked on the link provided by OP at the beginning of this topic? I decided to check first and this is what I found.

It's funny that most visitors see the name Bitcoin on the scenery, but think that it's just a picture and learn nothing about the technology itself. It’s even funnier that the manager of the establishment doesn’t know anything about this either (we hope that OP will fix this). In this case, one can't speak of any mass adoption.

The pictures indicate some links that are hidden behind the heads of visitors. What is written on them? I have a feeling that someone is promoting their sites (on about crypto topics) in this way and which have little in common with bitcoin (or speculating on this). That's why this franchise requires the installation of such scenery.

The conclusion is that Bitcoin is not yet known by many people, especially a manager and waiter who works in a restaurant near OP's house.
It's only natural that he makes a confused face when you ask "Can I pay with Bitcoin?"
Maybe Skye Wallet only has a limited budget to market its products, so the developer chooses to make a banner at a restaurant in a small town, which we all know, that the target audience is people who don't understand cryptocurrency.
This is because the Skye Wallet wallet has received bad reviews from several users, so it is included in the dangerous wallet category.

I wonder what makes the restaurant owner advertise what she doesn't know about just for the money. That is the major mistake some human beings make, not caring about what they advertise except for money.

Nevertheless, this is a good opportunity for you to lecture her on bitcoin and also how to be accepting bitcoin payments in her restaurant.

Good luck to you as you are planning to teach her bitcoin at Christmas dinner

Almost similar experience when I visited a self-styled Bitcoin City in a place I now reside. 3 hours away by train/bus and while I wasn't entirely disappointed, couple of first places I went into with a Bitcoin logo outside turned out couldn't accept BTC payments.

It wasn't even an ad deal like in your story, it was literally a logo to signify BTC payments accepted.

In their case, staff weren't properly trained or didn't know at all how to accept BTC.

Great stuff, let us know how the education session goes Wink

I asked her why they wouldn't accept Bitcoin payments but have the walls decorated with bitcoin stickers, banners and crypto wallet  ads. She explained they have some sort of franchise deal and get paid for keeping the ads on the wall but they don't really know how Bitcoin works or how it can positively impact their business. I could sense she wanted to learn what I knew, but it wasn't the time and place for a Bitcoin lecture. Instead, I invited her for Christmas dinner and promised to teach her Bitcoin.
Merry Christmas everyone
She is the manager and not the owner of the place but influencing her by educating her about bitcoin will have a great effect on the restaurant and how they continue operations. You were able to notice the bitcoin logo on the restaurants because you are into bitcoins, some other persons may have observed it but kept mute. Great of you to show concern to help this local restaurant add another payment option.

Definitely you cannot teach her about bitcoins in one day, but you can arouse her interest. Make it your personal project this December to help this restaurant start accepting payments in bitcoins.
