Save a little more and get a Gridseed Blade or if you're stuck on SHA-256, these are affordable:

R-Box won't ROI, but it's in your price range.

Cool! I might buy an U2 or NanoFury off that site, we shall see Smiley

This thingly looks promising. Keep an eye on it but be careful with preorders.

Again, I already own scrypt miners. I do like that though, I will keep an eye on it.

Oh sorry I missed that.  I guess you could buy a couple antminer u2 for fun.

You mean like 35 u2's?

Why not buy 2 S1's?

.5 BTC is too low to buy a decent mining harware, maybe you can buy 2 Nvidia Geforce 750Ti to buid a little scrypt rig, nothing more, hold them Smiley

I wouldn't bother with graphic card mining. it cost me about $2000 to build a decent mining rig running x4 R9 280x's. i'm in the process of selling off the graphics cards because it's no longer profitable to mine with them anymore with the increase in difficulty and the drop in price of alt coins across the board you will not even break even.

This right here. And your budget of $275 (as of today's rate) is pretty low when it comes to mining. If you want to actually make a profit, you will need at least 10x that (and that's still got a ton of risk associated with it). I'd just hold the BTC or try day-trading it to increase your holding.

i'd save that up for a Scrypt ASIC like a Gridseed. There's a good bargain over at monster-asic.com I stumbled upon a few days ago. Just don't give up. Mining is a lot of fun  Grin Grin Grin

My honest answer, as a basement miner, is to buy more bitcoin.

That is investment advice.

For fun though - nothing beats mining.

For x11 try this:

3x r270
Gigabyte GB-AM1M-S2H
AMD Sempron Kabini
750W PSU - best deal
4gb RAM -best deal
30 GB SSD - best deal
Total about BTC1.5

That is a pretty cheap 5.5 Mh/s X11 rig.  Also, I hear NVIDIA gear is good for X11 so you may do better there.

My guess is this will not pay for itself but it will be fun.

Forget about the mining hardware, you make more money if you invest in "KaChingCoin"

I did not ask for sarcasm, I asked for an honest answer

Have you calculated the cost of your electricity first? There's no real point of bothering if you electricity costs are higher than the efficiency of any miner's you buy. With that in mind - for $250 USD I don't think you would get much in the way of GHS, personally the time for mining has really passed unless you have super cheap electricity/access to cheap miners.

Yes, I have

Well .5 isnt much to work with, in my opinion, THIS is your best bet

But, you are forgeting a all the extras required to run a card.
ah my bad, i though you just needed a card, yikes... even less to work with, i think you should wait til you get more BTC to invest because your not gonna be able to break even for quite a while with the low budget build...
