All coins are down together atm so you could balance your portfolio. Maybe hold 60% and invest the rest in other good coins. I'd hate to be all in on the one crypto. diversify, pick a balanced portfolio of coins which have good teams, actual use and are in a few of the crypto realms (currency, privacy, utility etc) this way you spread your risk and can possibly ride a wave of a good lesser known coin which has much more room to grow.
There two ways - you can hold it for 1000$ Ethereum, or a little bit more, or can buy Altcoins now for this and earn good money on them. But don't put you ethereum in ICO projects, you will definitely lose it.

Hold and HODL, you can also invest a part of it in promising ICO after doing a complete research by your own.

If you decide to hodl your etheruem, it will profit you more than converting to another coin. Your portfolio is good, hodl tight to it for some time more , the market gets affected anytime bitcoin is down .
Some can be invested in sub-units. of course, it will be more appropriate to make a decision by comparing it with the purchase price. but it should be ignored in the subunits.
