I'm not sure if bitcoin price will reach $3000, but I can only suggest to now save it first, do not sell it. Since it looks now bitcoin price i think is unstable to lead to higher prices again. Sell when bitcoin prices close to $3000, Not to $3000 i think it's no problem to sell it, it will not suffer a loss. Stay consistent on the target to sell it and do not be rash to sell it.

It is not a lean period at all. Far from it, the price has more than doubled in value this year. Surely you don't expect it to keep rising unabated? This is a consolidation period, no major drama, the current rate is fantastic for bitcoin. I don't know why the Op needs to sell at $3000. could it be he bought over $2500?

Bitcoin has already hit 3000$ not so long time ago. It didn't keep that price too long and droped back below but this isn't some magic number that couldn't be reached easily. And I don't think we have to wait next year to see that price again, it could happen much sooner and even go above that price.
I hope you still didn't sell your btc because it definitely will hit 3k and even much much higher by the end of this year.

Yes you are right that time is not to sell your bitcoin because its price will soon hit $3000 and I think its time is to buy more bitcoin, hold to till $3000 and if its price will hit to $3000 then if you sell or more hold, but still now didn't sell btc, yes its also my personally opinion that after segwit its price will low for short time but after its price will start to going to increase and then enjoy its price. I have been waiting for Bitcoin to reach $3000 so that I can sell my Bitcoins, but seems as if it doesn't want to reach that value anytime soon. SHould I sell with the current amount? 
If you have been willing to wait, I'm sure you still can be willing to wait for another month or two to reach the value you want, fluctuations continue and if you wait until 1 or 2 months I'm sure bitcoin will continue to increase to $3000. But if you can not wait any longer, I think the price now at $2500 is also good enough and there's nothing wrong if you sell it now.Yes, why can't you wait a little longer? I'm confident that it can be touch but because of many factors it will probably takes months or so before touching it. I see that the price is currently in red again so I we need to wait a more. And I'm sure many will dump their coins once they see that the price has hit $3000. Its a mental barrier for some.

3000 by mid 2018 lol u think the price is pretty much going to stay the same for a whole year? That would never happen in the crypto world where everything is moving at mindblowing speeds.
