Actually there are things that we could blame bitcoin itself, since increase in value and network traffic is inevitable bitcoin should've had plans ahead of time to maintain somehow a stable confirmation time and fees cost, after all not every one is able to be a miner to say go mine and take advantage of high fees people willing to pay, we need for developers to take an immediate action to solve block size issue and miners and nodes to come to a consensus agreement.
I know pay a high fee to confirm fast but wasn't the low or no fee a promise?

Developers have the fix or plan but they  can't come into a consensus since they have different view on how to solve the issue.  This is one of the drawback of being decentralized, there is no governing body that decide which is which especially when it comes to important issue that will affect Bitcoin's future.

Yeah sure. I hope that you will happy about paying tax to the government lol. I do not know why you like to blame about the fee. Most of the people are getting crazy about the fee while they do not know that thanks to the fee, they will never have to pay tax or something like that. And moreover, you can have a good security and become an anonymous person. LOL keep using FIAT dude and you will become rich with it Cheesy

I do not know why you are happy evading tax to the government.  They are the authority that keep your country safe from inside out.  Develop your infrastructure, supply goods to those who needs it and even give you free medical support.  And besides, if ever government accepted and regulated Bitcoin you will be paying taxes too aside from the transaction fee.

but honestly I can no longer give any answer to the question saying "why would I pay $0.9-$1 fee for using a new thing called bitcoin that I don't even understand instead of using my credit card for free that I have been using my whole life."

That's why it depends on people view about bitcoin if they like to try something new. Since some of the people still like the old way and according to their comparison that bitcoin is not that wise thing to use then just let them on how they was.

But on the other hand, there are also people that even they have no idea about what bitcoin really is, wants to test what is this really all about. This kind of people witnessed the advantage of using bitcoin even not taking some basics and ideas from the others.

You already gave them some basics explanation and that's it. It's their loss anyway.

Oh i could rant.. i could REALLY rant Wink

But OP you are wrong.. ever heard of credit card fee's ?
Like paying 25% ?
Those transactions are not "free"

But i gave up when i had a guy say "fuck Bitcoin, i just want to make money off it" ..3 years ago

What ? am i suppose to recommend using it when it takes days to have a purchase go through ?
I sold BTC on LocalBtcoins and i got the Interac eTransfer confirmation email immediately with NO wait !
It cost one dollar flat rate.
Straight to the bank account to spend immediately.

What ? am i suppose to tell noobs they have to use a calculator to figure out what fee will get their TX done in 24 hours ?

Oh trust me there is far more negatives than that too.
Bitcoin has to get it's shit together and fast.

Thanks for pointing that out spoetnik.
When I read the opening post I was really asking myself if that guy really is that dumb or just tries to troll us.
I feel sorry for the people he told about Bitcoin.I mean who knows what nonsense he was telling them just because of lack of understanding and knowledge.

Yes it is a big problem for bitcoin user, I also feels like the fee is bit high, bitcoin need some development or way to decrease the transaction fee, because if this keeps on continue more people will stop using bitcoin, even with anonymity feature people will start to doubt to used bitcoin as transaction currency

The Bitcoin transcation  fee is increasing day by day as we see delay in confirmation if the amount is set as high. Even with high fee, the tx takes time for confirmation and we need to address this situation as soon as possible.

There's no need for your assistance for Bitcoin. Everybody knows what Bitcoin is. So just go away and weep somewhere else  Grin

+1 to OP, just investment reason others counters with sounds like ponzi to me, "buy Bitcoin now and sell to greater fool who buys Bitcoin later". I dont think just investment can work for too long, and even if Bitcoin is only used for remitance payments in the future, its still limited by few transactions per second so the more popular, the less usefull because of increasing fees - and one day it become too expensive for remitance payments as well.

I still introduce people to Bitcoin as an investment option and also for remittance but not as a better alternative to cash or credit cards. We

cannot compare in speed or value for money, when it comes to micro transactions. Yes, you can send $ 1 000 000 000 for the same fee as you

would send $50 for instance, but once you start making multiple payments per day, Bitcoin is definitely not the cheaper option. It sucks, but

this has become the reality now.  Angry

That is exactly what I faced. Introducing bitcoin is easy but explaining it is very difficult, and this was the 1st question among many which my friends asked me when I told them about bitcoin. Promoting bitcoin is a great thing as more bitcoin adoption is better but I just thing is people explore bitcoin by themselves is better and know if bitcoin is really for them or not.

Talk as an expert when you explain about bitcoin to your friends. Initially talking about something that's easy & without any investment costs such as how to obtain bitcoin of a signature campaign that you follow. A few moments later, when asked about investment and payment, you need to explain if these are virtual assets that has big trust, community, and level of outstanding transactions.

If you are not able to explain further more, you direct them to be active in this forum, I'm sure they will learn a lot independently.

Slava Ukraini!
I have to agree with OP opinion.
Earlier one of the advantages of bitcoin was cheap, almost free transactions. Now it's gone. Bitcoin transactions is quite expensive, not cheaper than bank transfers. You have to pay fees if you want to avoid stucked transaction. Now even international bank transfers are not expensive due to such things like SEPA system.

You know, people didn't think they needed computers back in the past... And I think that this situation with Bitcoin really can change only if we continue spreading a word about Bitcoin, pointing out to its advantages (for example, c'mon, if you want to send money to another part of the world at a low cost, it is really a good stuff), and showing that Bitcoins is something people should pay attention to, cause it can then be late for them, there will be a breaking point when Bitcoin becomes really widespread.
Everything unknown frightens people.
My point is not to give up, because, by driving btc adoption we can steadily raise the price of Bitcoin, at least, provided there are no considerable stresses in the industry.

Yes I think people stopped to promote bitcoins because too much people use it now but I think this is good because like we can see the value of bitcoin is growing and this is because lots of persons use it. So we should promote bitcoins, for example me, I knew about bitcoins to late and I probably missed oportunity.

Every user who have introduced bitcoin to friends and members around the locality has the same feeling. I believe its just a temporary problem that has occurred because of the increased price that creates a traffic in getting priority in confirmation. Sometimes even increased fee doesn't get confirmed.

It is difficult decision, imo, after 3 years promoting bitcoin and it has to end. I also think even bitcoin has the other good feature than credit card or bank, but many people are not comfortable with high fees while they can do transaction without paying fees.

First of all introducing so many people to bitcoin is really good but I still don't get it. The people to whom you introduce are they that dumb if you bitcoin is getting mostly an increase of 5$ per day so are they that dumb that they can't understand that the price is increasing and I don't think they listened to you that bitcoin is a currency and straight away invested without even knowing that it's price keeps changing. Doesn't make any sense!!

Stay optimistic, ten people you explain about bitcoin, there is always one or two people who would be interested. Keep trying to build a good community. Expensive bitcoin transaction costs and often used by criminal mafia is not main reason for people who understand financial assets.

Develop confidence in group gradually until they engage in bitcoin business. We shouldn't give up because opportunity doesn't always come twice in our lives, and as long as there is no prohibition on anyone.

The first decentralized crypto betting platform
I agree, it's a huge shame how Bitcoin is getting less "grassroots" to put it that way.  It's harder to explain when the block size is too small for it to be as simple or quick a transaction as it needs to be. Mining is also less accessible since mining with PC gets you essentially nothing anymore.  It's such a great technology and based on great ideas and a great investment and so much else but on the surface is pretty hard to tell people about, especially with all the stigma about Bitcoin in the press, such as its association with illegal activities, all the scams, and the notion that it's "dead".

But I think it's the idea of something being digital and decentralised that's so great.  You can send to anyone, whereas before you could only either send to people online if you give them loads of private banking details, and in person you'd have to be near them.

The damn slow transactions are annoying, though.
