Hey fellow hodlers,

I just created an easy way to receive donations in crypto for Free.

Looks quite nice! I'm working on a very similar service. Thanks for the motivation Wink

Bitcoin address is easier and more secure.

You start with Bitcoin address which you control. You exchange it for website address which you do not control. Hosted on server you do not control. Owned by people you do not know. Advertised by person who either never used bitcointalk or created new user for this thread.
Instead of saying "here, this is my bitcoin address" you say "here, this is an address where you can go to meet a guy whom i never met or know - they will tell you bitcoin address they promise is mine and they will do it for Free". What an easy way, eh?

This is a recipe for disaster. The only thing that lessens it is that few people donate through static addresses posted somewhere. If you could prove that you displayed the requested address to each and every user, then you have something. Otherwise it's scam city.

Really glad to see so many claiming a profile!  Smiley

Thank you!

I signed up and created a profile.  When selecting my profile, I see nothing.  Not the photo I uploaded during signup nor anything having to do with the various receive addresses I entered.  What gives?  I'm using Firefox, if that matters at all.

Edit:  OK, I see things correctly at http://myca.is/bmulcahy but not when signed in at https://app.mycryptoaddress.me/.  Pretty slick idea though!

Fixed!

This looks very cool at first sight, but as mentioned above, you have to to convaince users that you are trustable and that their addresses won't be changed at moment of donation/paiement.
There is no team description: suggest to put social/professional profiles.
There is no contact board with support: suggest (at least) to put link to this thread in the website as an official channel of the project.

Nice suggestions! We'll definitely implement an optional feature so that you can add your social links like Twitter, Github, Linkedin etc.

And yes, we are going to look into ways to increase trustworthiness.

Hey guys, one of the creators of MyCA here, along with OP.

Cool creation, but seems like users would be unnecessarily trusting a 3rd party to give out their correct Bitcoin address. I’m not sure how you could resolve that issue, outside of building trust in the community so people are willing to accept the risk involved. Nice website.

I totally agree, we are looking into ways to make this decentralised. We've been looking at Ethereum name service and others to see if we could use concepts from their design to make it more safe. Also, turning it into a Ðapp might be a solution.

I'm not sure whether I'd actually use it, but I think that's pretty damn neat. Looks slick, works fine (at least for me), quick sign-up process... good luck, if it takes off it might just make crypto more attractive and accessible.

Also it was nice to see that satoshi's page was still up for grabs ;p

Haha! We were actually wondering when someone would pick up the Satoshi address!

We intentionally left it available, we were thinking on having a screen like "Oh you really thought this would be available, huh?". But decided on leaving it available Smiley

Congrats on claiming it!

Why would I shortlink my address? Some have vanity addresses and this kind of shortening will just defeat the purpose of having one. And besides, we love to see our addresses in our website isn't it? this is sort of like our digital signature. Anyways, best of luck to your project.

When mass adoption kicks in and regular people start using Bitcoin, I think that they will not love seeing their addresses on their website. That's the idea at least.

MyCA makes sense right now for receiving small donations, also the link is cool and it can be easily shared on social media.

Anyways, thanks for the feedback guys. We are going to look into ways to make it more trustworthy and decentralised!

When we do talk about public address then its not really an issue at all. They might know a bunch of addresses but it would really be just like that.
The good thing on using up this site is it do puts out all of your possible crypto wallets but same as others said above i dont see a reason that it would be
really usable because most of us would prefer on showing off our address looks like a digital signature.

The danger would be them displaying a different public address when someone goes to send you funds.

If you are the creator thanks for creating one for the community, maybe I can use one of this when I finally launch my blog it's so easy to use it's just one click to copy your wallet address, highly recommend for blog owners or those who offer donation based websites.

I just created an easy way to receive donations in crypto for Free.

You forget that posting an address will not get you coins.

If I ever donate coins, it's with a personal decision based on the situation.

I would NEVER donate coins to an address just listed on an address page.  :/

"Easy way to receive donate" is probably a bad choice of words.

With MyCA, you get a personal profile (https://myca.is/patrekur for example), where you can store all your addresses. To give you an example, lets say Patrekur is a crypto blogger that accept donations. Before MyCA, he always ended his blog posts with a PLEASE DONATE: BTC: ''sfjaklj342j342", ETH: 'sadfasdfew' etc.

With MyCA, he could skip all these long coin addresses and just have: PLEASE DONATE: https://myca.is/patrekur, and this profile would store all his addresses. So the donations are still based on a personal decision, it's just a more convenient way to list all your addresses.

But MyCA doesn't only work if you're trying to get donations. If you have a profile on MyCA, you could also use it if you need to send your address to someone who's sending you crypto. Rather than copy/pasting the whole address, you could just send your profile (that has all your addresses).
