I belive in Reddcoin. Popular alt coin mining pool www.Genesis-Mining.com has lately added them to there mining pool (in total only 9 coins). These guys are professionals I think you can count on their oppinion.

Your thread should be made in altcoin section, and I believe you will get more attention there as well...

Which coin will get exchanged directly to USD next? Because that's the real problem. The one that does will have a much better chance than all the others.

in the end none of them will

in the short term, i don't really care all that much, i'm too busy to care about altcoins

most of them won't even last a year.

I think quite a few will survive 2014. I bet on the communities around the coins, so DOGE and FTC. As for getting on BTC-e I think that FTC will get there first as it seems a little more serious and well-rounded.

It took me ages to realise why I couldn't post on this forum - DUH!  Roll Eyes

Anyway, I'd like to think Litecoin will take off properly if it makes it onto MtGox. Doge and Peer might do well too.

You haven't used Gox, have you?

I heard about Bitcoins years ago, shame I never spent any time researching them Sad

so.. which ALT do you think will survive in 2014 and actually make it to, say, btc-e?

Litecoin is almost as well established as bitcoin itself, and is arguably even better.  Aside from litecoin it is really a gamble, but I think Peercoin, Worldcoin, Namecoin, and (maybe) Primecoin all have real potential.  If you to go coinmarketcap.com and sort by volume, you can get a pretty good idea of which alts are real contenders.  Here are the top 9, by volume:

Litecoin is established in what way? I'd say it doesn't come anywhere close.

Even though Dogecoin created as a joke. I think it will be the next alt coins which get into BTC-e. There is a lot trading activity in Cryptsy, so it should do well in BTC-e.

I also think DOGE will make it to btc-e if only because so many people have heard of it. The publicity campaign behind it was enormous. Even more people became aware of it after it shot up in value after hitting cryptsy.

The newer alts seem to be falling in value straight after hitting exchanges like cryptsy. I think btc-e will only want coins that stand a good chance of rising in value, so DOGE might not be a bad bet for them.

Only time will tell what the next btc-e will be.

I'm betting on StableCoin (SBC) for the long haul.

the cake is a lie
From what I have been reading around here seems like Protoshares have a good chance of survival. Also Megacoin looks good to me .But I'm new to this.

#   Name   Market Cap   Price   Total Supply   Volume (24h)   % Change (24h)   Market Cap Graph (7d)
1    Bitcoin   $ 10,532,413,135   $ 861.26   12,229,075 BTC   $ 68,855,765   -8.78 %

10    WorldCoin   $ 16,402,831   $ 0.42   39,026,159 WDC   $ 141,315   -16.06 %

The default setting on coinmarketcap is to sort them by market cap (not surprising, given the name of the website), however, that can give a very distorted view, because if someone creates a currency with 1 billion units and they own 99% of them, it is fairly easy to drive up the market cap to huge levels through transactions that are only a few thousand (or even a few hundred) dollars.  For instance, look at the volume of Mastercoin or Zetacoin -- it is incredibly tiny, even though their market caps are quite high.
I think Ripple could also have an outside chance of succeeding as well, although I admit that (a) I really don't know a lot about it, (b)  volume is incredibly small at this point; and (c) it has some potentially serious limitations, including principally the fact that it can't be mined, and that it is incredibly confusing to get started using it at this point.

Earthcoin. It's one of the few lately that appears to actually take itself seriously. Or maybe it's just coincidence that most altcoins I read about are jokes to a degree.
