You have 1023,1024,1025,1026,1027,1028,1029 and 1030 all those different activity are a possible rank up case.
If your post count = you activity score, you can do it by deleting a few posts back to see when it was you actual rank up, but in our case to get your post count to equals your activity then we have to delete a few thousands posts.
That is what Loyce is talking about.

Let me explain a bit, for every post count you get an activity point, but you have a restriction to get only 14 activity points in a two weeks period. If your post count is higher than your activity, those activity points that are over the post count are not lost. With every first post in the new activity period you get automatically extra 13 points activity (in those cases when the post count is at least 13 points over the current activity).
Here an example
You have 50 posts and 28 activity, the new 14 days cycle have started and you make a new post (51 total posts), then you activity will go to 42. Let's say after that post you go to some nice place for vacation and you come back after 3 weeks (the new cycle has started again) and you make only one post again. Your activity will go to 52 same as your post count.

On the other hand:
If you have 140 activity and 1000 post count you need to delete 861 posts to reduce your activity with 1.

How it's 8 different possibilities? I see:
1. He is going to have 1022+14 in the next period, and he become the Legendary (1030+)
2. Delete minimum 7 posts from the beginning to make sure they were already added in the activity counts. So in the next round he will have 1022-7+14 which will possibly still keep him in Hero :-D
3. We can keep reporting his early posts to ensure minimum 14 gets deleted in each round :-P
4. Someday the system will get tired and will award him the rank eventually without having 1030 activities.

Assuming coinlocket$ makes at-least one post in each round.

I can tell you that @BitCryptex was in the exact same situation just a round back. He ranked up on the last round. So sorry for loosing you bet, but sometimes coincidence are so unacceptable

What is puzzling me is at what exact activity you are supposed to rank up. We all have much more posts than activity so, you get 14 with every new post in the new round. From 1022 til 1030 you have 8 different possibilities, so we don't really know.

 That would have been the funniest dick move I've seen in a while.
I still don't get why nobody pointed out the changes that theymos announced after the last DT change. I imagine it didn't stir up to much drama as it only affected Hero/Legendary
Not like the sounds of a million voices being snuffed out all at once, when it affected newbies.

I bet that $coinlocket$ will be the only one in the Rank up observer thread who have to wait for the 1030 activity point to rank up to Legendary rank. Period for the bet: today to next 1 year.  

I am happy you will be a legendary within the next two weeks. If 2020 has taught us anything, it is that nothing is impossible, so who knows what will happen at the next activity period (I kid, I kid).

There is somewhat of an argument that people with very high merit should have lessor activity requirements to rank up. Maybe once a user has 110% of the merit required to rank up (excluding any merit they had 'grandfathered'), 1/2 of additional merit they receive could go towards required activity, up to a limit. This could be an additional reward for those of us who are stong contributors to the forum community.

Are you sure that you will be ranked up even if you reach 1030+ activity? What if something goes wrong here?
I'm just trying to feed paranoia. 

I remember, also waited for the maximum activity to catch Legendary rank. Just don't forget to post in your last Hero weeks 

Unbelievable what you have to go through. But now the end is in sight.

I can imagine that theymos will intervene manually and hide an easteregg so that you will have to wait 14 days longer than the previous maximum

Well, technically people with activity on the 1st period between 775 and 777 can be more unlucky since they can rank up with 20 periods, not my case tho.

What are you paranoid about?  If anything I'd have ants in my pants waiting for the next activity period if I were you--imagine if Theymos upped the activity requirement to rank up before next Tuesday.  You'd be pulling your hair out!

Just as an aside, something similar almost happened to me before I hit Legendary in January 2018.  Yeah, I almost ran up against the 100-meter, reinforced concrete wall of the merit system before ranking up by about two weeks (if I recall correctly; it's been a while).  Other members weren't so lucky.  Hero members got 500 airdropped merits but still had to earn 500 more to hit Legendary, assuming they had the activity requirement met.  OP, you might know that already but that's a little history lesson for the members who haven't been here long.  It was like a different world back then, before Jan. 2018.

Well you can make it more interesting. Delete few hundreds post from the beginning and your activities will lower again and you will not fear for becoming the highest ranked user :-P

Assuming full 14 activity points every two weeks, there are only 8 points to be gained in the 19th period (as evidenced by your activity score of 1022) so I think that means only 8/(1030-775+1) = 3.125% of wannabe-Legendaries can be sure.
