I'm sick of MMORPGs.  I'm sick of FPS.

Games I enjoyed in the past are Civ 1-5, Xcom, Sins of a Solar Empire, and Supreme Commander (a real time economy/war game).

Any suggestions?  I'm willing to buy the game from you (Steam) using Bitcoin!

Europa Universalis IV, great game Smiley

if you liked civ 1-5 you'll like this too, I loved civ5 but I consider europa universalis IV even better Cheesy

much more diplomacy so I find it more realistic Smiley

it's going to take some time until you figure it out but once you do, you'll have hours of fun Cheesy

my only regret is that it didn't start earlier 7th century - 12th century so I can play with the Croatian Kingdom but even this way I got my kingdom trough rebellions against the Hungarians Cheesy

I love the way you gain vassals, make royal marriages, alliances, how other nations love or hate you because of your actions, it's all related, everything makes perfect sense Cheesy

btw if you start playing don't mess with the Ottoman empire, they're the strongest nation in the whole game Cheesy

there are some bugs like I noticed a few countries with different religion that they really had but you can still convert them, it's even better that way, more challenging Smiley

If you liked X-Com you really should give the reboot from 2012 "X-Com - Enemy Unknown" a try. Well done modernized version of the classic X-Com paradigma.

And as someone that liked Supreme Commander (and probably Total Annihilation?) you definetly should look up Spring (an open-source real time strategy engine) and the Balanced Annihilation Mod (an attempt to redo Total Annihilation in the Spring engine in a balanced way) for it. My Friends and I have loads of fun playing it co-op versus AI each Monday, we're too bad to try against real humans online though :p.

I never liked Civ myself, but if you're into turn based strategy on a larger scale with some level of complexity and you are into SciFi then Endless Space might be worth a shot too.

Some Indie games that don't quite fit the genres you stated but are worth a look for interesting ideas are: Risk of Rain (basically a 2D platformer version of rogue that can be played cooperatively), NEO Scavenger (turn-based hex survival game) and Awesomenauts (basically Dota 2 as a 2D platformer, which is quite fun and hilarious). Risk of Rain and Awesomenauts are part of the current humble weekly bundle which I suggest anyone to pickup as it features only worthwhile games this time, it only has 1 day left though.

You said you enjoyed real time war/strategy. What about Hearts of Iron? My favourite is HoI II complete, played III a bit but never got into it enough to really learn it... It's really complex series at first, but well, it's just awesome because you can rewrite the history and do funny things - Like play with some really small country and try to conquer the world (if you're skilled enough)  Tongue

Hearthstone.

Thank you for this.  It's not a FPS or MMORPG and looks rather interesting.  I'm installing it now.  Smiley

(2048 was a bit simple for me, sorry)

Hearthstone is a good nice game. But if you find randomness of cards a little unfair, and truth to be told better cards gives you advantage. Purchasing cards is optional,  because you also earn them over the course of play by winning matches, but buying cards=better deck=more wins. Try a game when you can't buy anything that made you stronger, and where only factor that matters is your skill for instance Starcraft II or DOTA2.
DOTA2 is free to play on steam.
