Of course when a user makes a quality post you actually expect reward for it (and more often than not you get it as we have source and members willing to give it out)
But I believe your post should be reason enough for a user to merit you, without actually asking for credit.

I also don't consider this merit begging though.
Posters who ask for merits as the whole content of the post best fits the description.

Excessive begging for merit sure being looked down upon, which looks like beggar. But publishing high-quality posts and looking forward to getting meirt I don't think there is anything wrong with it. Everyone wants to be recognized and praised by others.
A writer writed an article, if you don't like this article, but don't easily belittle it. This is rude, and it will also hurt the author's enthusiasm.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

This is a stance I strongly disagree with. I don’t think anybody running Bitcoin projects left because sections of the forum were being spammed. They would have likely just been concerned with their own threads and their own users. It’s when disrespectful forum members make it appear that their work isn’t valued that they target their effort elsewhere.
Honestly, I haven't really seen this, and even if I have I don't remember it quite well. But since this is bitcointalk we are talking about, I see this being more than just a possibility. And I also dare say that most of them who were disrespectful didn't know jack about the particular project or even bitcoin. People weren't toxic back in the day. Well, I guess toxicity and spam is all you get when bitcoin becomes famous.  Undecided

But I still feel that valuable members, members who understood bitcoin, who were here in the early days, who weren't necessarily running bitcoin projects; left the forum because of the spam and its factor: Signature Campaigns.

But the most valuable participants left because of the spam, and lack of individuals who understand bitcoin but all they found was individuals who thought bitcoin was brought up by illuminati, and that satoshi lives in a hut located in Bermuda Triangle.

God forbid someone creates something. This is the exact bullying nonsense I always talk about as why this forum has lost it’s most valuable participants. If people think Bitcoin’s success was due to it keeping out what is deemed low quality users instead of fostering innovation and giving builders an immutable platform, they are lost.
I wouldn't say this is "bullying", this is more of double standards, stereotypes, and some people's constant willingness to find problems with low ranked members. Like the positivity level is at par to zero.

But yeah there's some sort of bullying here though, it always has, and always will, so long as this is a part of internet where people can sit in their basements and make fun of people in a hurtful way. But the most valuable participants left because of the spam, and lack of individuals who understand bitcoin but all they found was individuals who thought bitcoin was brought up by illuminati, and that satoshi lives in a hut located in Bermuda Triangle.

It seems like people are more concerned with trying to get Moderator positions by berating newbies than they care about Bitcoin actually having use cases that bring value to this forum.
The perks here are useless, except for signatures, so being a Mod is something people would love to get, because they get to look "cool" ,unlike the boring legendaries and other stupid ranks. Some people are actually interested in modding the forum, to try fighting against the spam, but things are as slow as the Internet Explorer here, so things never lift off.  Undecided

I don't think OG is wrong here, this board is meant for the forum's issues, not for personal opinions or someone being nitpicky, so they want the whole world to change according to them. This may not be necessarily bad, but I feel this is nitpicky and the referenced thread isn't really promoting spam, its a bot for autofilling details in google forms... So I don't see how this is giving a bad name to bitcointalk. The "bad name" of bitcointalk goes above and beyond the general people's imagination.

I know some people might disagree but really think about it.

Way to go on making people get the 100% report accuracy.

Merit begging isn't really against the rules, its a community driven thing, only excessive merit begging might have what some might call "consequences". And the referred post isn't really merit begging, its like asking for tips, its not necessary, but its appreciated by some people. Some people are just overdoing on everything, in the name of "saving bitcointalk".

I guess you're done complaining about Flying Hellfish censoring P&S and decided to suggest a respected member with valid posts censor himself by posting less.  You really, really are completely unaware of where the problem is on bitcointalk.

Start by not being a part of the problem. Imagine if everyone made threads everyday about everything they do. This isn’t JetCashTalk. Maybe take a break from the new thread button for a couple days.

I think he`s already doing it. But the problem isn`t solved. Therefore, not indifferent users try to do a little more than just not be spammers. They want to spread information about unscrupulous members and inform other users about similar cases. Forewarned is forearmed. These are minimal actions, but perhaps they will help reduce forum spam.

I forgot more than you will ever know.
To be honest I first thought the software was really for automated posting, which is not the case.

Most of the tool can actually be pretty useful to fill out various forms. To me best usage scenario is really filling out crappy Airdrop forms. This is NOT harming the forum.
If it is used to post bounty reports it can be seen as negative for the forum, however I doubt using the tool would really make the task any less annoying or faster.

I am not sure I see your point here JetCash, excepted for the merit whining part.

I don't think that we should be posting spamming tools in the beginners board, even if they may be for other sites. It gives the forum a bad name.  The OP is also begging for merit for his post as well.

It things like this that discourage me from visiting the spammers training board ( sometimes known as the beginners board).

I think the topic is about joining airdrops and not encouraging people to spam? I think there is a big difference of the two?
I am not here to defend the account nor to promote spamming, but I think you can be part of airdrops and bounty campaigns while making quality posts that will help this forum.

False dichotomy of believing that every member that join a bounty signature posts only spam and useless posts is an illogical fallacy and a hasty generalization.

Now should there be a section(ignore list discussion) when ever a bad post is made the whole entity newbies(both the offender and non guilt) would have to suffer for it this can really dash the zeal of  most. Let's every offender suffer there wrong doing the section(that why it has a report button) and those in the same rank should be left out of it. It's quite inappropriate coming across a thread like this one and the OP is trying to privatize the forum(when ever he makes a thread on any section he posts it else where, when ever he puts someone on ignore he post it, when ever he misses  a former member he post it, when ever he doesn't want to merit someone he post it e.t.c) it's not ethical and should be frowned at. We can take our private decision and not trying to make it a forum discussion. The forum has more than a million member and if everyone decides to emulate  this attribute then the value would be lost.

One of the meriters has only received two merits, and he gave his sMerit for that post. That looks like the underworld looking after the spambies. It's why I try to keep merit away from them.

I do not quite see how so, the fact that 2 earned merits generates an smerit means the user has an obligation to spend it. And should be allowed to. Just as you are allowed to keep yours from them.
Your reply just compels lower ranked members to not merit at all or merit those higher up so as not to be suspected of abuse.

A user has and can do what s/he wants with their spendable merit.
And without any availabile evidence, I don't think you should assume

I am alive but in hibernation.
The post you were referring to has a reply button available and should have been used to vent your disdain.

I do not know what exactly may be Jet Cash reason for not replying in it.  But there are few reasons associated for me to not to reply on threads that I am not liking .

1. I do not want to be associated with that thread.
2. My reply will actually bump up that thread and I do not want to bump up that low value discussion.

Will you likewise leap to the defense of a newbie if they made a redundant post, such as this one, no one on bitcoin talk cares about who or what you put on your ignore list, its your private matter..

This post is unnecessary as well as unhelpful and of low quality(i guess it's not only noobs that make up such blend)

The post you were referring to has a reply button available and should have been used to vent your disdain. Creating another thread linking to that thread is just like a long chain of wrong threads. Everyone has their own discretion on how to use the ignore button but would it be healthy if a thread is made when ever it's done? And beside every merit giver has their reasons for doing so it must not appeal to everyone, if a post Can trigger a strong communication in someone and they have smerit to give out then it's no big deal.

Depends on if the newbie is getting shit from a member who's being completely hypocritical or not.

If you think they are breaking forum rules do this: scroll post to the bottom and on the right side you will see this button:

Press it!

Now, type this in comments:

When you are done, on the right side you will see "submit" button. It looks like this:

Press it! Congratulation, you have reported post to moderator  Cool

Care to elaborate? I have checked this "spamming tool" and this looks like tool to fill various forms:

WebM8 will remember all your usernames and passwords and fill your log on screens automatically. It will also allow you to fill other web forms by point and click

Am I missing something here?  Undecided

You are allowed to take actions without making a thread about it.

Of course, but by opening them up for discussion, one might be able to influence other members to support the action, and in some cases this can be beneficial for the forum.

There are so many threads about the decline of Bitcoin Talk, and I hoped that I might be able to reverse this by gaining support for actions that the more serious members appear to support. I love Bitcoin Talk, and I hope that it won't slip further into the quicksand.
