Wait, wasn't the point of Bitcoin to stop the need of wallets and all of those things? it sounds a little ironic.
Seems interesting though, maybe I'm missing something Tongue
Maybe I would buy one in the future when Bitcoin actually becomes relevant in the real world, or when I start moving big amounts of btc.
Wallet and bitcoin are same in relation. You cannot separate them. No bitcoin without wallet, the only different is what type of wallet did you use?

QuestionAuthority

Four out of five is not bad !!

The only reason I did not rate it at five is because the installation procedure was not crystal clear and kind of anxiety-provoking (like many installations are for beginner moi).

Ledger is a good solution.  I like mine.  And it's a great value.

odolvlobo

I have now done some nine or so transactions.  After using it a few times, the device automatically generated another two receiving wallets (about four transactions on the first wallet, then it gave me another wallet, later a third), I do not have the pattern figured out yet.  Nor have I tried sending out a large BTC transaction to see which wallet(s) would be used.

I got my Ledger Wallet yesterday. It works as advertised. The interface through the website is very simple, basically showing transactions and nothing more. Hopefully, other wallet apps will interface to it and provide more features.

My only complaint is that it provides only a single address to receive bitcoins, even though it is an HD wallet. Perhaps that is just a limitation of the site.

I want one but you rate it at (four of five) stars. Why did you take a star off?

Hardware wallets are currently useless to most at the moment. Until they are completely usable with mobile devices I don't see a reason to own one at the moment.
But as soon as Ledger is usable with my Android I will be buying one for sure.

I can't agree. You are saying that Bitcoin is useless if you don't have a phone. Anyway ... Hardware wallets have benefits over other wallets: They are immune to hacking and phishing and they are convenient because they are not tied to a specific computer.

The HW.1 is compatible with the Greenwallet app on Android. I have one and it works great (even though the Ledger is way sexier).

You have a point. The main reason for a hardware wallet is to secure your coins in cold wallet. Hardware wallet protect coins even on a compromised computer. It is not useless to most.

Probably the most well known use of hardware wallets like the Ledger and the Trezor are for secure longer-term storage of BTC.

ticoti

A Trezor is on its way to me from the Czech Republic!

NewJerseyJess

The only issue I had was that setting it up was slightly anxiety-provoking (a little harder than I expected, but not bad).

I like ledger, but don't you think that if you spend, you should spend in a more complete device as trezor?

I have that doubt when thinking to buy a hardware wallet

We certainly seeing some good advancements on the hardware wallet front ... It'll be nice to see this develop to include a display.

The ledger wallet is a very nice looking hardware wallet. This might be the one I am getting when I need to spend bitcoins regularly. It is nice to see more hardware wallets available in the market and prices are more affordable.

Ledger Wallet seems very cool indeed. Maybe one day I will decide to get one.
What I also like is that prices of hardware wallets are getting lower and technologies are expanding in the good way.

In the future I cannot imagine a Bitcoiner without any of hardware wallets.

Kind regards.

You lucky thing, I knew i should have ordered one of these last week.
I ordered a My Celium Entropy to create safe paper wallets instead and there is a delay on shipping with no update yet.
