Though I don't think anyone really needs to prove themselves here since 99.9% of us here are just random pseudonymous users, I don't think he/she's wrong at all.
I think that proof of oneself is what has made some members more reputable than others here. There are some members a lot of high ranked members can vouch for here and that's because they've earned the trust of the community. So, to that extent I will say that at some point we all have that opportunity to prove something.

Again, we may be seemingly anonymous with our monikers but that isn't enough shield to hurtful words. This is bad for those who don't have the backing of the community especially when wrongly accused or misconstrued. Words (hurtful or not) transcend the mere facade of usernames. People go through a lot in life offline. We shouldn't compound it with unguarded utterances in the guise that everyone needs to grow think skin.

These isn't gonna end OP  Smiley
You can't make everyone as good as the way you want you know, so what you will do is just to read and ignore what's unpleasant, that's not gonna take much time instead of public abuse.
Most peeps are just so unruly, legendaries won't really grasp a clue of how it hurts and to what extent it can discourage, but its fine

How I perceive shamm's post is I felt he's been hurt before and humiliated by high ranking members and he's giving advice to us newbies and low ranking members to give importance on equipping ourselves with knowledge first on the forum rules and cryptocurrencies and merit will just follows. I just hope everyone here will respect and understand that not all members here are excellent in written english but we are trying our best to convey our ideas clearly but forgive our grammars and sentence construction as not all are native english speakers. As I notice about this user Shamm, he's irritable and easily offended as I have seen his posts but I admire him for ranking up so fast he just joined here this year and that is remarkable.

Knowledge is very important in any case, and this is very essential if we are entering every case, especially new things for us.
Without knowledge, we may be lost and don't know actually what we want to do.

And knowledge will be worthy if:
- You really have that knowledge
- You can share the knowledge with others
- You can practice or implement the knowledge,
Even in this forum and also the crypto industry, it is a must.

And, what is actually your matter?
And about humiliation, is there any? You will not get it if you don't really make a big mistake.
\And never feel that every critic to us is a humiliation, make it as input that we can take the lessons.
because everybody may have different ways touter the critics or suggestions.
don't pick only the bad words, but pick the lessons. We can control all people hereto say as what we want to hear.'But I am sure that everybody here also has their own limitation and will not do that kind of rude humiliation.

knowledge is the best achievement that we recieve and the best weapon against those people who've humiliate low ranks.

No one is bullying you for spending enough time on the forum before growing your account. Everyone learns at different pace but the truth remains anyone can effect a change if they choose to its just a time bound process that stands in-between. If one can spend time to study ranking up wouldn't be much of a challenge. This is the very reason most forum users plagiarize just to meet up with their accounts. I also believe knowledge is the paramount essence of this forum. Get the knowledge and watch it work for you

knowledge is the best achievement that we recieve and the best weapon against those people who've humiliate low ranks.
You don't have to prove that you are good newbies and you don't have to fight against any member because your rank is low, is newbie.

Merit is award to your good work and it is like that by the design of admin. It is not a weapon. We don't have merit for war. The forum does not need war and merit is not a weapon.
I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.

While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

Do not beg for merit excessively.

No one humiliates the newbies or newcomers and I want you to know that a lot of forum rules and regulations are amended many times just to avoid newbies jailer so that this forum will be welcoming for new members. However, this is a forum that contains people from different regions, backgrounds, ethnic and understanding so some people can say something that's not acceptable by you at some point what's important is not breaking the forum rules and regulations.

There is nothing wrong about his statement. I think you've misunderstood him, his words are not pointed or directed towards you, so i do not think that you have to worry about it. What you need to do is to pass by because there is no need for you stay.
hah?? I'm not worried about that: you need to study, learn each sentence correctly before your fingers type.

Mostly low ranks gets humiliated because they post low quality post and other useless stuff. They just wanted to post to complete their weekly quota "like when you join campaigns" but i must say that although he might not be so knowledgeable enough and not a native speaker at least he tries. That's what matters.
Who are they?
"Afaik" - Low rank [Brandnew - Newbie] Jr.member isn't too bad because you can create weekly quota according to your statement.
I don't use code signature in general, so I'm not trying hard to catch up on weekly quotas Tongue

Actually in his congratulatory post i can feel his dishonesty. He should have post it with sincerity and honesty. There could have been no issues going on.
Note: You need to learn from each tip being talked about like the example every time a newbie asks and this might be the best way for you to get to that point quickly. that's the tip that says  Grin

Forget whatever misunderstanding you may have with Shamm and focus on yourself. Shamm is building his account to become a contributor to the forum. He became a full member shortly after joining. That is something worth commending.
Where should I praise him? Too bad I don't have Merit Tongue if I have then will give you Merit or maybe I need to do Tips as is talking  Tongue

Drama again? Shamm celebrated his promotion yesterday, I can understand his mood, a lot of people supported him.
But you should also consider that Shamm is not a native English speaker. The pharmacist reprimands him repeatedly. Today's topic in META is most likely the remnants of yesterday's emotions. It can be seen that Shamm is young, and even in the absence of complete knowledge on this forum, he often tries to be noticed.
Therefore, I do not think that he was going to offend someone and so on, his behavior will soon settle down. We often saw such active heroes, which the forum later reformatted into more sedate participants.

We are same I encounter that kind of situation wich other were humiliate you without valid reason.

I think that the language barrier may also be an important factor in getting the feeling like people want to humiliate you, although in some cases they don't actually do that.

I don't think he said you did something wrong to him, he is just trying to gain some more clarity on the sentence you used.

Just do what you think that can contribute to the forum and DGAF to any negative user commenting on your content without any basis to support ...
Also if some feels like a general statement made by someone is directed towards them or they feel attacked, it is a sign of low self esteem, because someone with a high opinion of themselves will care less about other people's opinion especially when it is not constructive. You should work to build and develop your self esteem.

@Tuesdaynight
This thread would have been much better if you had shared your own interpretation of what that user said. But you didn't. Do you agree with his statement? Do you understand what he said, or are you asking how others interpret his words? Do you agree, disagree, things like that...

I am not really sure why he created that thread. He is saying that people should strive to gain knowledge. That knowledge will somehow help them against those who have hurt them while they were still newbies. At least that's how I see it.

Looks like OP locked the topic because there was no reason to create it in the first place, or someone reported it and it got locked by mods.

frankly I'd like to hear random opinions regarding Shamm

There are few people who just humiliate others for not much of reason. It has happened to me too, they've usually landed in my ignore list.
And there are cases people may humiliate embarrass you because you think you know something, you even try to teach others and you actually know it wrong. It has happened to me too in the past.

Learn, grow thicker skin, learn even more, learn to use forum tools to help you - whether is search or ignore. As long as you'll keep improving, your rank will improve too.
On the other hand, grudge, stagnation (on the learning curve) and trying to rank up for the only reason to get into bounties/campaigns is a losing direction on long term.

Shamm is Full Member, although his writing is very bad. You, on the other hand, already have an advantage over him: your writing is concise, on the point, and in proper English. So, why are you worried?

Is it humiliation for those that have nothing to offer but to spam, plagiarize and make this forum not to be good, but people that post good will be good and enjoy to be here, the statement is entirely wrong but just a way to encourage newbies to seek for knowledge first so they can post good.

I guess you'll have to grow a thicker skin.... really... People say all kinds of stuff you might not agree with, but this one isn't even directed at you (in person). Just shrug and walk away...  I know that if somebody attacks you personally, it gets harder to walk away, but this one was just a broad statement. It even looks like the OP wasn't fluent in English, and it's even possible he wanted to say something completely different than what you've concluded, but the true meaning was lost in translation.

If you don't like what this person is saying, just click "ignore". If he says something that makes him untrustworthy in your books, add him to your trustlist, but with a tilde (~) in front of his username.
